      This generation has an ugly front end until you add a Cowl hood to make up for that weird front.

    I think he got a great deal on the ElCamino. If he was smart he would leave the rally wheels on and put some great new rubber on it. The rally wheels look great and they will stay in the round and he won't have any problems with keeping the wheels balanced either. I would have definitely paid that kind of money for the car. It's just getting broken in with those low mileage figures.

    My great grandfather loved El Caminos. He used to load his riding mower in the bed when he mowed lawns. It was far easier to load than a full sized pickup.

    • @JohnMiller-zn9pf
      @JohnMiller-zn9pf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      People loved them then, for the same reason compact trucks were popular later. Easy to load, easy to park. Easy to get around city streets (compacts, NOT el Caminos lol)

    The 1973 to 1977 GM A body cars ushered in a new era of GM cars that had suspension designed for radial tires, and were widely praised at the time for increased handling and a great ride quality. This car has been loved, highly maintained, repainted - and is actually probably many times the miles of what is shown on that old 5 digit odometer. Cars that have been thoroughly cleaned and somewhat restored can look like low mileage gems and many buyers and sellers overlook the low mile lie provided by a 5 digit odometer that will always show less than 100,000 miles

Each take thereafter got worse and worse until I threw up my hands and walked away for a bit. Came back and nailed it on the first try. My dad told me the biggest problem with those El Camino's is that they were rust buckets, as for those bumpers that was the norm form 1973 through the rest of the 70's. This car must have been a Southern Californian special, it sure as hell didn't come out of the north east, or mid west. Those Rally Wheels are from that date line, I seen pictures of my dad's old Chevy with those wheels.

    Unless there is documentation as to the original miles, it is too hard to believe. The car is almost 50 years old. The brake pedal will tell the story.

    5000?? Are you serious. That thing would be 15 k. Where I live. Thats a nice find. I would keep the rally wheels though

    Well I hate to tell Neil but those are the factory wheels for an El Camino with the upper grade option like the conquistador Sophie put wheel covers on it that'll be a downgrade option although Malibu Classics did have wheel covers or you could get the wheel option why you would want to put wheel covers on it those Wheels look very nice seems like a backward step to me how about I give him is 5 grand back and I'll take it and drive it like it is

    Could you please let us know where you go to these public auctions, and are they open to the public?

    • @hullinger
      @hullinger  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Each state, city, town... uses the online auction site of their choosing to host their online auction process. You can try GovDeals which is more of a nationwide surplus auction. Others like Purple Wave and Public Surplus are more regional. Finding the auctions for the town or city near you requires you to call those towns and ask. Good luck in your search.
