Whitley recorded this in a hotel room on a cassette tape, but it was never released or re-recorded for an album released. His son, Jesse, gave the tape to Aaron Lewis, who recorded the song for his 2019 album, State I'm In.

I discovered this and another Keith Whitley demo on Facebook. I was so glad when they made it on TH-cam. Keith Whitley still never disappoints. Every song of his is a priceless treasure. I wish he could've been around longer to give us more great music.

You know you're a great singer when a demo of yours can get almost 7,000 views in three months. At this rate that might be up to 26 or 27,000 a year for just a demo. Just imagine had he released it. Now yes I know Michael Jackson demo might get a million views in a year but this is a guy who died 30 years ago and that he's getting this many views.

I’m not sure! One of his washed up band mates was making a profit off of his Keith collection and I believe he was angry someone else released this song! Not sure why as to he put the song originally on Facebook and here on TH-cam! Anyways I’m loving these songs!

Because once these are all put on TH-cam, the label has no reason to ever put them out on an official release. Lost it’s demand, in their eyes. And they get around to the fans if they do enough digging, like many of us have. Putting them all on TH-cam effectively lessens the chance that the label would ever package more songs alongside some of these in an official release.
Hi Alex. I respectfully disagree with your claims. Whoever owns these unreleased songs is sitting on a gold mine, and why they won't release them is beyond me. Just because they're uploaded to TH-cam doesn't mean there's no incentive for an album release. If that were the case, no one in the music industry would release songs, but yet, we still have new songs released.
@@scottnowak6162 One would think greed alone would be an incentive to release these songs. I would also have thought with Keith's up for the HOF it would have been a perfect time to release new music and spark new interest. Thanks for releasing them these are like finding a treasure chest full of gold.
Hey Scott in case you didn't get my message from the other video, I'm wondering if you've ever heard the song "Don't take candy from strangers" by Keith Whitley. There's this other guy on TH-cam that has the video somehow but if you could get it from him I would love to hear it on this channel. I don't know how it got it but maybe you can too. A great song!
So if Scott if you have any demo of the song "BUCK" that Keith Whitley recorded I would love to hear that because I have the actual song on the album and it's on TH-cam but I haven't heard the demo itself. ( That is if there ever was a demo recorded)
Hi Donna. A demo was recorded for the song, Buck, but I don't have it. I'm sure it's out there somewhere, but that and the demo for Daddy Loved Trains are ones I don't have.

Scott the same guy who uploaded that don't take candy from stranger song has another channel that his name is in all caps and he has just more Keith Whitley songs maybe you can comment and ask him through that channel if you can upload them to your channel .
