Well explained but army men keep the ▄︻̷̿┻̿═━一 gun tightly on their shoulder because when they do so, The gun and their body acts as a single system or single body and since since mass inversely proportional to velocity so they face a comparitvely much recoil force on the gun. Also it doesn't change the velocity of the bullet.

But there is one correction... velocity will be INVERSELY proportional to mass because of the reason that is more is the mass ,less is the velocity
Less is the mass, more will be the velocity
INVERSELY means that if one is increasing then other will decrease ...
