Quick tip on heat pumps, most will use the O setting but if you have a Rheem or Rudd brand they will use B setting.

I just went through EXACTLY the same thing you did. By the time I landed on "put White in W1 and Orange in OB" I had disconnected everything and plugged in the old thermostat. It was getting way too hot with the AC blowing hot air into my home when it's already 85 degrees outside on a summer day.
Day 2 - I set up just like you suggested and then realized I also have a pink wire. Looks like it belongs in the Y2 hole. That's where it was on my old thermostat. I have no idea what most of these mean and/or do, but at least it's finally blowing cold air again.
And why does the setup menu still insist on having me select a furnace (in addition to the heat pump)?

Seems to me that you didn’t connect your thermostat correctly. You did connect it tote heat pump connection.

Im trying to upgrade to an ecobee. I have the same thermostat as in the video but the wiring is a bit different. I also have a heat pump system. My current Honeywell only has the. W1 connected but no W2. It also has the U1 connected. I’m not sure which wire to use for the heat pump (o/b) option on the ecobee.
