Complete install of Meross Smart Garage Opener, with compatibility accessory!
มุมมอง 31Kปีที่แล้ว
Is your current garage door opener not compatible with Meross Smart Garage Door Opener? Here is my installation, with the accessory that Meross will send to you for compatibility. Purchase it here: amzn.to/44LD8bZ Thank you, very much!. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Meross: shop.meross.com/?ref=zdTlrBpZwxHt33
Quick tip on heat pumps, most will use the O setting but if you have a Rheem or Rudd brand they will use B setting.
What’s up with the whispering?
…my child was still sleeping during the voiceover.
So the accessory is wireless and doesn't connect to anything? Mine is different and it's very confusing.
Your accessory is different from the one in my video? If so, I’m not aware of the “new” accessory that they are sending. Although, it could be that they have changed what they send now. That’s odd 🤔
@@heyhomeIQ my big problem is I can't figure out where the blue and brown wires from the main unit go. Do they go inside the opposite side of the accessory?
look closely at the pictures from seconds 00:48-00:57… does that help?
Can’t lie I giggled pretty hard when I saw this comment since I’m in the middle of installing and watching it too 😂 Great video @heyhomeIQ ! They do indeed send a new accessory out for “free” which looks VERY different than the one you showed (also looks significantly cheaper too). It’s black / yellow with no LED and four yellow buttons (or at least in my case it was yellow). But now as I’m writing this I realized maybe it depends on what type of “learn button” your garage door has. In my case it’s a yellow button. Anywho, do you by chance happen to know if they do indeed have a “comparability instruction manual” online? I went looking and still couldn’t find it ☹️
Actually scratch that, I found it on one of your other comments. I wish I could upload a picture to show but the one I was sent looks nothing like the one on that instruction manual ☹️ Edit: I just checked and the “accessory” in the video is RGR910 and the one I was sent is “RGR551C-ACCESSORY” which I did find a manual for after googling! 👍 Hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here.
I’m a little ticked off waiting for the additional accessory
Yeah, they should automatically include it!
@@heyhomeIQ I spent 2 hours trying to diagnose why it wasn’t working when only to find out when I manually downloaded the Meross app it said I needed the part. When scanning the QR code on the device it only installed the Apple home thing which had no mention of this. Surprised they didn’t have anything in the box that stated this additional part. I was going crazy
@OrganicStuff1 😣 I feel your pain! I went through the same thing you did. Luckily, it was worth the wait, but I was heartbroken waiting for the free accessory that they could have “freely” sent in the initial product package. I’m excited for you though, and hope you receive the accessory within 7 days (normally sooner).
@@heyhomeIQ ty I check the mailbox daily hopefully Friday
@OrganicStuff1 Awesome!
With my original liftmaster garage door opener the two wires coming out off Meross white unit connected where the garage door wall switch wires connected. With my new liftmaster the wires coming out the white unit attach to accessory unit that Meross sent to me for no charge. The accessory is basically a remote with two wires coming from push button. I had to teach garage door new remote. Since I had new garage door unit I also went through reinstall. With a couple of unplugs and replugs everything works. Thanks Meross for sending accessory at no charge.
I just went through EXACTLY the same thing you did. By the time I landed on "put White in W1 and Orange in OB" I had disconnected everything and plugged in the old thermostat. It was getting way too hot with the AC blowing hot air into my home when it's already 85 degrees outside on a summer day. Day 2 - I set up just like you suggested and then realized I also have a pink wire. Looks like it belongs in the Y2 hole. That's where it was on my old thermostat. I have no idea what most of these mean and/or do, but at least it's finally blowing cold air again. And why does the setup menu still insist on having me select a furnace (in addition to the heat pump)?
just a note because it is not clear. when the list of button colors comes up detailing how many button presses are needed its for the remote button that you have chosen and not the myq learning button. you press the program button on the remote. then you press the learning button on the GDO. then you press whichever button on the remote that you wish to use [so yellow button=8 presses ON THE REMOTE] until you hear the GDO click or the lights flash. then you press the program button once more on the remote and put the battery cover on. the remote should then be able to operate the GDO which is what you want even though the meross unit will be doing the operation daily.
Seems to me that you didn’t connect your thermostat correctly. You did connect it tote heat pump connection.
Im trying to upgrade to an ecobee. I have the same thermostat as in the video but the wiring is a bit different. I also have a heat pump system. My current Honeywell only has the. W1 connected but no W2. It also has the U1 connected. I’m not sure which wire to use for the heat pump (o/b) option on the ecobee.
@@cdiaz1257 I would like to help but I’m confused with what you’re trying to say.
@@BlacHaze78how can we communicate?
good job !
Thank you! 😊
shite
Love the video and pictures are worth a thousand words. Great instructional video!
I’m happy you enjoyed it!! 😃
I can’t seem to get the accessory paired with my opener. Do you have a link to the instructions online? This seems to be my only hurdle. Everything else (app, hardware, sensors) works fine. Just can’t get the accessory to open the door, which prevents the entire process.

@@heyhomeIQ YTHIS. it is not included in the box and it should be.
I did not know that I needed this combination of instructions and ASMR, but I did. Thank you. I would just add that it's very important to make sure that none of your wires can get close to the moving mechanisms of the garage opener, i.e. the chain or belt that opens the door, the rollers that guide the door in the two tracks, etc.
😁 I’m happy that it resonated for you. And, yes, you are right! Not having the wire close to the chain is veeeery important! 🙌
Straight forward
Thanks for the information What is your day job? Voice over was a little distracting…. Just saying Also could use a little clarification on which button is pressed to program each brand of motor (program button, button 1 or 2)
I literally laughed out loud! 🤣
program button to get the solid blue light. THEN the learn button on the GDO. THEN the button you choose on the remote the number of times associated with your GDO learning button. THEN press the program button to finish.
thank you. this was so much more helpful with my opener than anything else i've seen... also why are you whispering?
I’m happy I could help! Yeah, I was trying not to wake up the house.
@@heyhomeIQ that’s fair
Your video saved me so much time. Thank you!
I’m super happy it saved you time! 😃
Thank you! I couldn’t find instructions anywhere and your video was the only one I saw that showed how to set up the accessory!
I am very happy to know that you found this video helpful! 🙌😃
Thank you SO much for this very soothing, relaxing ASMR video which was exactly what I needed for my incompatible garage with accessory installation. Now off to my unexpected nap... ;) Hopefully it doesn't take too long for Meross to send the accessory. Cheers mate.
“sleep tight!” 🤣Yeah, it took about 5-7 days to get the accessory. I was anxiously and impatiently waiting 😀…and it was so worth it! I’ve had zero issues and my favorite feature is the “overtime”reminder I get when I have my garage door open for longer than 15mins ☺️
Wow, NOW THAT… sounds perfect! It’s the complete reason why I invested in this. I’m always so paranoid the door is open after one morning waking up and seeing the door open! All night!? So thanks for that feature call out.
@rockjockfilms absolutely! 🙌
Just got this set up. My wires to accessory remote were different colors than shown here. Didn’t matter which way to connect so don’t worry about that. The learning remote part is confusing. Hit the program button (remote) then the learn button (garage). Then press x ? (See chart) the door button (1 or 2) not the program button lol
😆 I’m happy to know that you got it set up!
Hello, please how did you contact meross for the compatibility kit? Is there a phone number or email?
support@meross.com 🙂
Nice job!
Thank you! ☺️
Why are you whispering
😁 my son was still sleeping, at the time of recording.
I’ve done everything and I even hear the click but it is still not opening ☹️ what am I doing wrong?
Dang! Did you have the accessory sent to you? …or, was your current opener already compatible? Let’s get this figured out 🧐
did you hit the program button one last time?
I got it after some time trying
Why are you whispering 😂😂😂😂
😁 …my child was still sleeping at the time of recording 🤪
@@heyhomeIQ 🤣🤣🤣
I actually liked how calm her voice is. Slow and clear! Good job🙌
@lightning1086 Thanks ☺️
1) Thank you SO MUCH for this simple video. 2) Your voice is so good here, we’re bordering on ASMR garage door territory. 3) Phenomenal job with cable management. Mine does not look anywhere close to as good, though I did use cable “staples” to hold the cord to the ceiling. Now just waiting for the accessory after trying, and failing, to twist the cables together.
1) I am so very happy that this video was helpful for you! 2) 😆I didn’t realize it until after I recorded 😁 3) Thank you!! I believe that using cable staples may have even made it a bit simpler 🤔 Fantastic idea!
Just to clarify since I"ll need the accessory too, I'll still be able to use Siri to open the garage door as I'm entering my neighborhood and don't need to be super close to the door itself?
You are absolutely correct! You can most definitely still use Siri…and, since I’ve added my Dad to my “Home” group, he can open and close my garage door from his home, miles away! I hope this clarifies a bit more 🙂
@@heyhomeIQBeautiful! Got everything set up before realizing I needed the accessory! 🤦♂️ Thanks for the quick reply!
@@heyhomeIQ Just popping into say that I got the accessory hooked up and love it! No more fumbling around for the remote on my way home! Had the “obstructed” issue that seems to be common but eventually got that cleared up.
@mattks3903 Super!! It’s such a convenient accessory and proves itself to me every single day 🙂😎
Thanks for making this video. So damn helpful! Accessory I needed just arrived from China. Installing mine now!
That’s fantastic! 😃 I’m excited FOR you, as this accessory continues to be one of the most favorite smart devices that I have in my home. Take care! …and stay tuned for some of my upcoming videos of extremely useful smart home devices 🙂
@thrillingd Could you share the link of the accessory you purchased?
@@paucorsol you fill out form on meross website and they send you the accessory you need for brand/model of your opener
So does it know when the garage door is open or closed?
…it sure does! And also gives you an “overtime reminder,” which alerts you when your garage door has been opened for more than 10-60 minutes (your option). The reminder has been a VERY useful alert for me 🙂
Does the accessory require a battery?
The battery comes already inserted inside of the accessory that they send. I did not have to purchase a battery separately 🙂
So now that the two wires aren’t going into the garage motor, you don’t have to keep the Meross device on top of the motor, right? Very useful video btw, thank you!
Right! It’s just convenient for me to have it there. As long as your wires are connected properly, the Meross device can be placed in a position that works best for your setup 🙂 Thank you, very much!
Like she said, you technically could put the device pretty much anywhere if you lengthen the sensor wires.
One thing that may come up is an error message in HomeKit indicating door obstruction. Just make sure you didn’t accidentally put the wires loose at some point where the device wire connects to the accessory. One other thing that I did was mount the sensors on the side of the door and the roller track, sort of how it’s done with the Tailwind opener. Works much better that way.
fyi I tried this, and the Meross device is not be the garage motor. Works just fine and particularly helpful if the WiFi coverage is spotty by the garage motor.
how long did it take to get the additional accessory?
1 week (about 7 days)
Ordered it on Thursday, got it Monday.
This video will come very handy now that MyQ garage door openers broke compatibility with HomeKit using home brdige.
Is this an ASMR video?
😂😂😂😂 not my intentions 😁
@@heyhomeIQ I love the soothing voice instead of someone all hyped up about...a garage door opener, lol.
Helped me set up garage door and cum
