I drive my TRX in snow mode 90% of the time and it has saved me a ton of money. Though, I tend to be a bit heavy footed on the highways, so I change to sport mode and dust some Raptors off. Then right back to Snow mode. Overall I average 14-15 MPGs and thats not bad at all compared to how freakin heavy the truck is. My Gen 2 Raptor got around 16-18 and was in the 12-14 range when I would romp on it. I say thats a fare trade off for a truck that is a lot faster, 400 lbs. heavier and a good bit bigger. TRX for the win!
Save more w/ no cruise control an dont use the lane assist tech. You will get better mileage. Speed up before going uphil and let the momentum take you up, this will save some.
Anther great TRX video. Loving these. I have been getting right around 10mpg around town. I just did a trip of about 80% gravel roads through mountains going around 40-50mph with a few stints up to around 70 to E joy the baja Supertruckness. I still ended up with about 12.5 mpg and close to a 400 mile range. Snow mode makes sense for sure. I'd like to try similar where I just drive it in manual mode the whole time so I can still use the baja setting for the suspension and be the most comfortable for ride wise. Again thanks for keeping the TRX content going!
Current TRX owner. I get 13.3mpg normal driving in 'Auto' mode, roughly 435-450 miles of range on full fill up (highest has been 13.8 on a 200 mile road trip) I see snow mode get tossed around in forums, I think people are just more consciously driving. Mode makes little difference, MPG really about your habits over time (engine breaking, cruise control etc) FInally though, if you are worried about MPG in your $120k truck that only takes premium, its probably not the right choice.
@@mijahildiaz4522 😂 could just be your driving style. I mean at end of day they are super fun to drive. 5:50 agree 100% 😂😂 Had a 2021 Tundra SR5. Best I ever got was 12 mpg. I also had the same "squished in the garage" problem lol. Had to lean over to pull the passenger mirror in before backing all the way in. Power folding mirrors are definitely the way to go.
A Smooth boost controller you can. Set to not go into boost when you don’t want to. So your engine is pretty much NA. Good on pistons and reduces engine load compressing air. You want to get it on, turn controller on full and it will give you everything.
The only thing that's stopping me right now from buying a TRX is the bad fuel economy + you can only use premium gas. I mean I've got a GLE 63S AMG and I get 16-18 on average and I'm not driving it like a grandma. I know, I know it's a heavy off-road truck and you have to be ready to pay the price but still, it's almost like you can never be far from a gas station...But really appreciate these fuel economy hacks, Ben. I need at least some sort of a justification for buying one lol.
You should have power fold mirrors to go through your garage. I average 12 mpg in my 22. About to take a road trip to FL next week. I'm going to try it out in Snow Mode.
That's good but you can't compare average MPG numbers to highway numbers. It manipulates the results to make them look better than they are & it's kinda like looking at what you'd like to see rather than what is.
Interesting! You got about an extra 100 miles from the estimated miles to empty. Started the vid at estimated 195 ended at 140. Drove about 145 miles via speedometer thus gained 100 miles so far.
You should try out a pedal commander ;) that would be interesting on a TRX (Also, I just saw a TRX for the 2nd time two days ago and they are mean looking! :)
I have also tried manual shifting and keeping the RPMs down. However as far as fuel economy it comes down to either lugging in a lower RPM which uses fuel versus spinning the engine faster where it is more happy. I have not really seen a difference either way.🤔

This should be an interesting video. I just picked up a 2021 TRX and I’m getting 11 miles per gallon. It’s very fun vehicle however. Nevertheless, I’m going to get an extra set of wheels with a all season highway type tread to see if decrease rolling resistance helps gas mileage. 🤔

I guess IQ's drop when you get to Utah. Hey genius, a TRX gets 10mpg CITY, 14mpg HIGHWAY. You shot this video on the HIGHWAY. So, yes, you got around 14mpg, just as was advertised by Ram. Putting it into snow mode MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT get you about 1/2 mile per gallon savings because the tranny shifts at lower rpm's but not 4mpg better. You got 14mpg because you were driving on the HIGHWAY at a steady speed, not stop-and-go city traffic. OMG what can anyone expect from the land of mormons and Roseanne Barr. SMFH.

Sir!!! Thank you!!! I was on the fence about getting a TRX however now I feel much better about it 🎉🎉🎉
That’s actually quite interesting….But since when does Ben Hardy care about MPG??? 😂😂😂
Ben does, but his bank account does😆
Fuel mileage sounds like my old 2004 Dodge 2500 quadcab 4x4 with the offroad pkg., and a 5.7 hemi !
My power wagon gets 10 around town on a good day on 37s. 14 on recent trip to VT. More fun then a Prious
The higher altitude will actually help it get better mileage, with less air density the ECU has to pull fuel.
How much longer is the TRX compared to charger Hellcat ?
You should try out a pedal commander ;) that would be interesting on a TRX

$5 per gallon for premium. I drove by a station in L.A. yesterday that was $7 per gallon for premium.

Try it in valet mode. I wonder if that is better than snow mode

you`d be paying more for tyres than actual fuel usage saving plus the headache of changing and storing tyres and the appearance of HT tyre.
Great video makes me want the truck even more.
Is driving in snow mode all the time put extra stress on anything? I would assume so. Any engineers in here?
I think if you live in lower elevation states you average at 11-12 mpg
Great job, is there any long term issues driving around in snow mode? Thanks
Good question. I also would like to know.
how do you avg soooo low....I avg in auto mode 13.5-14 and with trailer around 11mpg....Im in the Mountains as well...
lol every time I see someone mention fuel mileage with one of these I laugh in 2017 TRD.. 4400 mile road trip at 14.2mpg over the trip is a party!

Did you opt for the tech package? that's how got HUD and digital rearview mirror
