@@Nicolemolina. it will be not worked! cuz baking powder contains only soft things. like cake pie etc. if you dont have any soda then you can make only with sugar but it will be not more good. but you can try it.

I haven't tried it that way but do give it a try. 😃
You can use vanilla extract but look up the recipe because it may have changed slightly don't cook it the same as this video though because in this video they over cook it the one in this video is too dark it will taste burnt

BE CAREFUL when you do this the sugar won’t melt instantly and it smokes really bad I almost burnt my house down cause if this and it sticks to the pan like really bad so a lot of hard scrubbing so take it off while it’s sticky overall taste good just don’t burn down your house

Just like melted candy, the baking soda itself won't add any flavor EXCEPT you put it in too much, it will be spicy
@@galaxykitchennI think maybe it's because you left your sugar on the stove for a bit too long(?) Because the color is supposed to be a light brown/orange color, it's supposed to be sweet and delicious
