Brilliant. I am an ex cancer patient who often needs to wear hats and can never find one I like. Will make this today. THANK YOU for your creative flair.
I cried almost everyday through out my school years (I say that like I’m not still in school) for being hella over emotional about someone saying a almost meaningless remark and when a teacher told me off. Rip me 😭😂😭😂😭
Wow! I am making one for my wife with my son, we have a sewing machine but I had no idea how to do this. You made it so simple, thank you! I looked up "DIY BEENIE" and your pretty face popped up so naturally I said, lets watch her! Your video was super simple and straight forward, thank you. She is getting a home made beenie from me and the boy fir Christmas and a scarf. Keep rocking.
Thank you so much for the idea. I took my moms sweater and just made a beanie out of it... It's a surprise for her when she turn back from work. Wasn't sure which sweater to take from her closet, so I just took some with Gucci 100% cashmere stuff on the label. hope she doesn't care much about that one. .. Anyway the beanie turned great although I used paper glue instead of that fabric one.. Hope she 's gonna like it .. can't wait
The paper glue is not going to hold if you wash the beanie you made. If it starts coming apart I recommend that you sew it back together instead of using more paper glue or get some fabric glue.
+J Niemann It doesn't matter anymore... It turned out it was one of mums favorite sweater. She bought it in Italy just a month ago for 500 dollars.. she was so pissed off when she saw what I did, although I had the best intentions. She cut my pocket money to half until April 2016 so I could pay off that stupid sweater.:(
I just made one. I sewed it because I don't have a glue gun. It took three hours, but I am very proud of the outcome. They are good enough to use as gifts and easy enough to make. Love this :)
+Angela Ponder there isn't much of a difference at all. Just that instead of using glue, I used thread. I don't have a sewing machine so it took me a couple of hours but it was definitely worth it!!
I just made 3 of them within 3 hours since I was using regular fabric glue and not the heated one. Also being super cautious in making sure the glue dried. Buuuut it was so worth the wait!
I saw this video a few years back and thought it was such a great idea. Then I could not find it again. So glad to now find it and I am in the process of making some beanies right now. Thank you for such a clever and creative way to make cute beanies - just genius! 💗💗
I made one of these and I turned the sleeves into socks instead :3 if you cut Steiger across the top, cut if any fabric at the end that has the stuff you want for a beanie, flip it inside out, and glue the small hole, flip it back right side out, then you get socks :3
OMG I LOVE this sooooo much! I've always wanted a beanie but they are like $25 here, and if you knew me, you'd know I CAN'T SAVE MONEY! AHHH Thank you!!
Do some shopping at the "thrift" stores for sweaters...♥️ Bargains galore in thrift stores. Even if you make an error; sweater would be couple bucks. 🤷🏽♀️
Girl you did that so incredibly fast and it came out so cool but I had to keep reversing/rewinding and I still didnt get the ideal i still didnt get it yet, lol but I will
Just fantastic little lady! I have unraveled the yarn of a sweater to knit a hat, but never cut one to glue/sew to make a hat. Wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing your cool ideas.
No I didn't mean the beanies or leg warmers didn't fit us I meant you can make those out of sweaters that don't fit us (I was talking about the sweaters not the beanies).
I used this technique for a hat I am using for a cosplay. Although I slipped the part where you measurement the fabric because I used an old small kid's shirt from a thrift store so I would not waste so much fabric. The shirt was so small it was just the right size for my head. Maybe using a kid's shirt could do well for this to.
I don't know how I just stumbled across this, but I didn't go looking for it, and I have been in serious need of a beanie for the past week. I can't find any that look good and aren't too expensive. Thanks!
I just made my first one and I love it!!!!! Got a pile of old sweaters on a chair in my bedroom, guess what I'm doing all day today!!!!! It's beanie mania!!!! Thanks so much hun.
Hi Andrea! I REALLY hope you can see this but I was so inspired to make a DIY beanie video inspired by yours, that I DID! I hope you see this and watch it! AHHHH :)
Thank you for this! I've been looking for a DIY beanie video because the guy I like loves beanies and I wanted to make him something special and this is perfect
Cute. 'Side you want showing' is the right side. Can sew or serge, and it is really nice to know about the glue for fabric. Nice add for using the arms for leg warmers. Good job.
I would totally do this if I still have a sweater to cut up. I used to get into so much trouble as a kid for cutting up things. :p LOL I would add some of my own touches too. I cruise the thrift shops for lace that is different and cool. I saw some lace trimmed leg warmers the other day but I'd rather make my own. Thanks SO much! God bless you!!
I like to take long sleeves from sweaters......and make sleeves with thumb holes... or use extra material from bottoms of shirts/sweaters and make kewt headbands.... or take skirts and slice off a piece diagonally and use the extra piece for a shirt or something to put (tie off) around a bathing suit.......so many ideas.... love it! I totally believe in being creative and never wasting anything.... (express)........
Oh my goodness.... You gave me a super great idea on what to do on a boring weekend, especially since I live around a number of thrift shops! I'm going to try and make one with a satin lining! :D
That's was such a big help !! Thank you. I was just thinking to myself the other day I need to go out and get some new beanies. Lol. So mad props. Now all I have to do is try to attempt to make one.
This was awesome. Thank you for showing these ideas. I've been wanting a slouch hat, but with a low income, I can't buy anything that isn't a necessity. But guess what... I can always find a sweater or two that can get cut up!
Thanks really like it! On the leg warmers if you add to leg warmers together so that the sleeves are at each end. Glue or sew the big parts together leg and thigh warmers for tall boots or just over your jeans. If you want!
made 3 hats, leg warmers, & a ski neck warmer from one of my dad's old sweaters. He's not huge or anything, it was just stretched out a bit. Merino Wool is Toasty!
Brilliant. I am an ex cancer patient who often needs to wear hats and can never find one I like. Will make this today. THANK YOU for your creative flair.

+lazalazareviclaza I can't tell if you being sarcastic or not 😂😂😂
That won't hold✌😒
I just made one. I sewed it because I don't have a glue gun. It took three hours, but I am very proud of the outcome. They are good enough to use as gifts and easy enough to make. Love this :)
+Rebecca schneider What did you do differently when sewing it??
+Angela Ponder there isn't much of a difference at all. Just that instead of using glue, I used thread. I don't have a sewing machine so it took me a couple of hours but it was definitely worth it!!
+Rebecca schneider thank you!!

You've officially changed my life... I love you!

I'm sad... I can't rock a hat like most people... I look crap in them :(
This is one of the most impressive and creative DIY videos I've ever seen.
OMG I LOVE this sooooo much! I've always wanted a beanie but they are like $25 here, and if you knew me, you'd know I CAN'T SAVE MONEY! AHHH Thank you!!

I just made one & I hand sewed it!!! I am forever grateful bc I love beanies & can now make them my selves!!! :)
Cool. I was really looking for how to make my own satin-lined cap, but now I also know how to recycle some of my own sweaters and shirts. 5 Thumbs up!
I like to take long sleeves from sweaters......and make sleeves with thumb holes... or use extra material from bottoms of shirts/sweaters and make kewt headbands.... or take skirts and slice off a piece diagonally and use the extra piece for a shirt or something to put (tie off) around a bathing suit.......so many ideas.... love it! Perfect gift for my boyfriend !! He loves beanies but there like 20$ each by us. Now I can do a couple ! You earned a new subbie !
Thank you for sharing your gift of creativity. I’m going to get all the sweaters that I was taking to goodwill and make beanies. 🥰

Thanks really like it! On the leg warmers if you add to leg warmers together so that the sleeves are at each end. Glue or sew the big parts together leg and thigh warmers for tall boots or just over your jeans. If you want!
