I have the BRZ version of this car, I have only been autocrossing in it. Pads, fluid, and RT660s make the car kind of silly to drive on the public roads. Thanks Misha, love that you are having fun in our zippy momentum car.
i want to do the brakes in my one just to see what its like, could i do just some yellow stuff pads , metal lines and fluid ? is that very expensive? and if i dont really track the car is it a stupid idea? i understand what it would do to the feel of the brakes, like more grab , less fade and stiffer pedal but whats it like to daily?
@@autosenses2960 Did you go straight from Michelin Primacies to the RT660s? Would love to hear about how it compares and if it's less or more fun with more grip. I'm thinking of switching to Pilot Sport 4S on RPF1s or Konig Hypergrams eventually.
Really appreciate the multiple views especially the foot well. I use to always quick shift and jam it into gear. Seeing how deliberate you are when shifting is helping me be more smooth. Glad you are enjoying the new car as we enjoy your content
Looking very smooth, and quicker than you you would expect from such a modest powered car, what times do you think the standard GR86 could achieve on a single lap? Running my car in at the moment, have changed the wheels and tyres so far, semi forged and 10mm wider stickier road tyres, saving about 7kg unsprung weight, great video with the 3 camera view.
These videos will serve as a good benchmark to see the progression from a stock to a fully moded car. Excited too see what you have in store. Some stickers are in order too.
Just started thinking about putting a Volvo T5 engine in some kind of early Type 86/BRZ. These films are really persuading me the chassis would be a winner. Love your driving btw.
Extra points for when you switch from a manual to the exact same car as an auto. Happend to me when my car got a oil change, first time triggering ABS on a parking lot :`D
A lot of cars cut power as soon as you touch the brakes too, as a 'safety' measure. Kills left-foot braking. Even my 370Z did that. Thankfully not the Miata
@@Balhaarize don't use the entire left foot on the break. Try to anchor your heel on the floor so your butt does not slide off the seat. Misha said that in one of his videos. But also make sure there is not floor mats that could slide under the pedals and there are no cars behind you before trying it.
"Airport rental? nice choise for a car" has to be the best line in this video hahaha Nice driving misha, its a joy seeing you enjoy it so much! By the way, arent rental company's prohibiting people from using their cars on the ring?
Something I like about my GR86 is that the TCS isnt too intrusive. I t really does help someone like me who isn't Aryton Senna yet makes me feel like him. (But not seeing my coolant and oil temps while on is annoying)
Wow! Learning to left foot brake like that in a manual car must take a lot of practice. Do you have a video to explain the basic why, when and how of left foot braking? Would you only practice (or develop) that skill on track, or can it be done, safely, on road too?
If it's even possible, what mods do you think it would need to go sub 8 min 20.6km? Alignment components, pads, fluid, and 200tw tires mainly, right? I have the Subaru version and absolutely love it so far, but I haven't tracked it or modified it very much. I've only put on camber bolts, a lighter clutch helper spring, and a lighter axleback exhaust, all of which I would recommend for a street oriented car. Would love to hear more about your plans and expectations for your car.
I am very curious what your over all take after the lap. It seems like brakes, suspension, possibly aero, gearing after power mods to match the gear to the track, and this thing will be extremely quick. I am extremely excited to see where this goes.
Noticed the car has done over 1km before the lap. Assume you did a post run oil change? If so what did you go with? Most of the information out there suggests to go to a 5w30 or 5w40 for “heavy duty” use. Would also be cool to see what oil temps you seeing in the heavy load areas of the track like heading uphill after Bergwerk. Thank you!
I owned an FA20DIT Forester (yes, turbocharged version of the FA20 found in the predecessor - GT86) and I've read that 5W40 is the top viscosity as the oil channels are quite narrow, not suitable for W50 oils (I am just repeating what mechanics told me). Acknowledging that FA20 was the "test version" of FA24 that's in the GR86 I would also be interested in what oil is recommended for it.
I don’t have the core strength to left-foot brake without a harness, the braking forces take my body and right leg into the accelerator pedal haha…I suppose it helps keep the revs up 😂
There are often complaints about a lack of power, but honestly, the GR86 looks pretty quick under your control! It should be a fun car to drive on the Ring!
The only people complaining are the ones who haven't driven it. Super fun to drive (I have the current BRZ). People seem to forget the car is light too.
Nice lap, love watching you push the cars to the limits of their capabilities. It would be a nice comparison if you can do a lap in one of the new GR Supras aswell to show the overall differences in the platforms and their abilities.
I assume you're enjoying it so far? I feel like mine will benefit a lot from a bit of camber on the front, but it doesn't need much else to be really good. Brakes hold up well for me around the Welsh countryside, but I imagine you're getting a bit of fade at the Ring? Pads and fluid for sure, but also not sure if Toyota did any kind of brake cooling at all? My Bilstein coilovers go on in 5 days, as well as a wealth of other alignment bits from Whiteline, gonna be great to feel the difference.
I will be installing "small upgrades" after Easter before throwing on the "big stuff", to show that you can get far with basic upgrades too. My Bilstein shocks arrive mid May, curious to see what you'll think of them!
@@mgcharoudin I'll send you a DM on IG or something when I've had some time to try them out. I'm fitting B16s, just FYI. Forged wheels should be here in a few weeks, just struggling to decide on tyre size. Thinking about 225s to maintain the agility, do you know what you're doing with tyres yet?
The car seems not powerful enough slow sections of the track especially when you held on 3rd gear. Also you told your previous videos that 6th gear is unnecessarily long. It is possible to lower fdr to make the car punch more or some positive displament supercharger to bump up all torque curve.
Seems pretty good to me, maybe a brake pads and fluid upgrade, but I wouldn't change the dampers for a car that's mostly street driven. Put some PS4S on it and call it a day. Edit: tune the rev hang out too! 😅

Why is Misha's acceleration graph so asymmetrical? Is it the track, or is it the driver who doesn't push the limits on right verses left turns. I've followed many a person up a local canyon road who seem to only have turning in one direction mastered. Smooth one way, a series of bouncing between the lane markers on the other.
@Misha Charoudin I don't know her other than the appearances on your channel, but I would go with Carbon helmet, and dual little pink pawprint racing stripes down the middle.

Mixed surface is very difficult to know how much grip the car really has. The good thing is you can run all season of the year 😂😂 so no problem in your case
Weird question, but why are you using your left foot to break sometimes?? It looks awkward, but I'm sure there's a reason you keep switching? Awesome driving btw!
Split second increments in laptime while tackling corners, you can be on the throttle faster without needing to move your right foot from brakes to the gas pedal. These tiny seconds can become 1-2 seconds on the whole run, cutting down time considerably if nailed on every occasion
