Would I be able to find what I'm looking for in Old Siam? Can you recommend other areas in Bangkok I could check out that sells quality Thai silk fabric? Thanks.

They are well-known for selling fabrics at reasonable prices. I hope this is helpful. You can search the word "Bang Lamphu Market" online. Alternatively, you can buy Thai silk and costume on Shopee which's the main online shopping in Thailand. There are many shops to compare online too.
Yes, you should go there as there are many interesting places nearby as well such as Wat Phukao Thong or Golden Mountain Temple. You can ask locals there for direction. I believe it's within walking distance to get there. By the way, these days transportation and railway system in Bkk has expanded and reached so many areas. You can get to this place by MRT Samyod station and just walk across the road then you reach the destination. I hope you enjoy your time in Bangkok. I think this year because of the heavy rainfalls, I suggest that you come towards the end of the year or the beginning of next year. Cheers!!
