- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 9 มิ.ย. 2023
- We recently stopped by GWAR's Slave Pit in Richmond, Virginia to talk with original bass player and current lead singer, Michael Bishop, about the Steak Bass. Mike talks about why he needed the Steinberger, which GWAR Albums it was featured on, and how it came to be the famous Steak Bass.

I did catering for GWAR last week and I can confirm that they are ALL the nicest dudes in the world.
My buddy opened up for them in Cleveland and I can confirm. They were super cool.
This deli tray is unacceptable!!!!
gwar just seems so fun. a buncha art nerds just living their best lives
Michael Bishop is a bass god! We used to write each other back in the AOL days.
This guy seems really down to earth. I used to work in Hampton at Wallace's Marina as a teen 30 plus years ago for this guy Kelly Place who was from Richmond. Kelly was good friends with the guys from Gwar. I remember Kelly telling me that he had some friends coming to visit and that they were members of Gwar. He asked did i know who the band was which i did and had listened to a few times. He said that they were going out on the boat and asked if i wanted to come along. I was like hell yeah! Really cool guys!
Mike Bishop.....Richmond Legend❤
i religiously consume any media pertaining to GWAR this is no different HAIL GWAR
Never been a big GWAR guy but man he’s fuckin awesome.
His comment at 5:30 is the most relatable thing I've ever heard.
Also "it sucks to play with it but it looks cool"
I’m not a Gwar fanatic but he seems like such a fun guy!
He really is
GWAR is the greatest band ever😂
Thank you Mike. Beefcake forever and the only vocalist worth carrying on the tradition!!
this guy is the reason i play bass
🤣 complete tonal control always set the same...
but I can change it if I want 🤣 that's great ! and so true........
That’s how I feel as well!🤣
@@joshbeast8599
I have played for 45 years 🤣 ands that's what I do 🤣
My reaction when he said that: I feel seen 😂😂
Absolutely cool video. I saw Gwar twice and it was awesome! (And a long time ago lol)
Super nice guy.
Never thought that the bassist for a grarly band like GWAR seems so well spoken. He sounds like he can narrate a commercial for Bass Pro Shops or something.
Funny because he's a huge fisherman
Mike Bishop is fuckin awesome. A great singer and musician, and a really nice guy.
Mike, my man. Geddy played a Steinberger. Long live GWAR!!!!
GWAR ❤️
Loved the practicing across from Brooke rd post office 90s. . .wow!
Wow! He says it plays like a shorty but the strap peg is at like the 15th fret; bizarre! But Steinbergers DO play a little "different" in general. Hilarious that he just plain called Roman 'sketchy' too.
That was really awesome!
That’s some meaty bass tone you got there bud!
Saw you guys in ATL for a new years show in the mid 90s. Blew my fng mind. Awesome live.
So a Steinberger, an old Fender Bassman and an Ampeg 810? Damn now I'm GASing...
Btw... please tell me there's more with Dr. Bishop upcoming....
Oh, yes. Approximately 3 more videos to come
Comedic horror music?…. How could it last?…. 30 years later?…. Everyone knows GWAR!…. ❤
Medium rare tuning for sure
5:25 - true story ha!!!
Oderus passing has made me realize how all of the Christians felt when their Jesus died!
Ed Roman made a bunch of guitars for Vinnie Vincent too
Hail Blothar and hail GWAR
Would love a new Kepone album
Steinbergers rule. I bought my XL2 new in 87 and it will be to be pried from my cold dead hands.
The headless design is actually better for the sound most people assume the large headstock will "balance" the sustain but large headstocks just kill it
“the cable would grab ahold of someone’s chains or armor…”
GWAR problems.
dropped off my other carvin. ,new bridge. ,gotoh keys. ,aguilar opb 3 preamp. have a good day.
Love GWAR but that bass is disgustingly dirty 🤣
Having that thing covering the bass prob dampens the vibration- hell no
Ed Roman is the definition of sketch hahah!
