I never played Magic Online, stopped playing MTG in 2002 and started playing again a few months ago, mainly thanks to the Channel Fireball Reid Duke as well as LSV Draft + Match videos (i stumbled upon on accident). The videos helped me a lot to update my 1993-2002 knowledge of Magic. And now i also feel like getting into Magic Online as well. Both Reid Duke and LSV do a lot of explaining regarding why they pick cards and also why they do what they do during matches which helped me get back into it with the countless of new cards, rule changes etc. So thanks for these videos and i hope they continue!
this was one of the most brutal 3x6 I've ever seen, seemed almost lazy haha, you should Check out Caleb Gannon he also does some really nice talk through on his draft channel about picks and reasoning
Just did my first cube draft. Didn't get any power, but did get hooked up with a very fun to play Base-blue Jeskai deck (essentially super-friends.dec). Didn't win anything..I am not good at MtG and havn't played MTGO in ages. But man was it fun! Opponents were nice, I ran into interactions that my newbie self never thought of, I got to discover/make some neat plays..I got to play with planeswalkers so far outside my budget I'll never get the chance again (until the next cube). I didn't get to play with any power (except that blue was essenitally open from both directions so I got to go base-blue good stuff). Not quite enough in power-cube in the hands of a newbie..but man. Playing Bribery for the first time ever was sweet. Chaining fast mana into a turn 3 Taimyo was back-breaking (I won that game!). So thank you LSV. If you hadn't played so much of this Cube via this and Gabby's stream, I'd have never given it a shot. What a great time.
I agree, black lotus, draw spells, and big creatures were all in Alpha. Playing Shandalar right now and my deck is essentially draw 7s into moxen/lotus/mana vault to play 6 mana creatures. So, as intended.
Sneak attack forces you into an archetype to be sure, but there are a lot of payoff cards in this cube. Said payoff cards are the reason Show and Tell is not optimal: you get a sweet card, but they'll have a sweet card more than likely too
People are always wondering about and/or accusing other players of ghosting LSV. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he gets ghosted quite often. At his skill level, it just doesn't seem to matter much. Reality: 'Any player matched against LSV may choose to have 'Glasses of Urza' in play, indefinitely." LSV: "Sure!"
I don't understand how progenitus isn't a windmill slam when you have natural order, someone explain it to me. Your opponents can't interact with it and you win in two turns...
It isn't a windmill slam because it will wheel. One of the most important things in Cube is learning how to plan your wheels. Progenitus is huge for a NO deck, especially when you have Survival too, but no other deck is going to take it, so there's no reason not to let it come back around and take something other people are more likely to fight over.
you didn't even come close to answering their question. progenitus wasn't going to wheel again at that point due to the number of cards in the pack. nice strawman though.
@@xwlfx315x that's not a strawman, they were asking why you wouldn't consider it a windmill slam. To answer the question more directly, Progenitus falls behind other targets in the fact that it doesn't do anything except damage without haste, where something like Primus basically puts your opponent back 2+ turns which is massive. Atarka is a better sideboard target against aggressive tempo decks because you could still lose the race. It's good on field, don't get me wrong, but it's just slightly too slow.
Pack 1, slams Black Lotus: "Okay guys, I'm definitely not forcing storm this time." Pack 2, takes Fact or Fiction: "FoF is good in any deck..." Pack 3: "I'm not taking Rite of Flame. I'm actually taking Probe, it's better in Storm decks... (mumbles under his breath: "IF I'm playing storm...") Pack 4: "See? I didn't force Storm. You didn't see me 3rd picking Heartbeat of Spring or something... [slams Brain Freeze] ... but I will be taking this!" Lol... Such a typical LSV line. 🤣
You're confusing Pack with Pick, also LSV disnt say "I'm definitely not forcing storm this time" he said "were not going to force storm, but were also not, not going to force storm". FoF is a good card and does go into any blue deck. Pick 3, "not pack 3"...he took Tropical Island, he took probe pick 4. You also quoted more than one line from LSV in this video, so you might want to clarify which one you're saying is "such a typical LSV line, or simply say "such typical LSV lines". Lastly, you're whole comment just doesn't make much sense, since in fact LSV did not go storm.
Depending on how old you are, somewhere between 1000 and 10000, I'd guess. Ten thousand is enough to eat one every day for thirty-ish years, and by then I imagine you'd either be thoroughly sick of them or dead.
About 10:00 he ask, “What’s going on here?” And I’m screaming on the inside storm is WIDE OPEN. Haven’t finished the video yet, just expecting some primo stuff not to wheel.
I've seen 3 multiple times. I'm not going to swear on it but I think I've seen 4 but then again it's more than possible that one may have been 3 and a sol ring or something else that's basically power but not true P9.
As much as I love watching LSV chase Storm and/or some other variant of a control deck... it'd be nice to see him play a deck with no blue cards every once in a while. Doubtful that will ever happen, though. 😿
17:20 gearhulk's gonna wheel- all these cards are gonna wheel the whole pack's gonna wheel no one's gonna take any cards cause there aren't any cards in this pack
I'm aware of that. They should probably think of something else (like a smaller logo) on these twitch videos. I do like that it's no longer obscuring the dialogue box though.

That was an interesting storm deck.
"Starting with Lotus is great. It's a great card to start with."
LSV hitting us with a bit of an understatement.

The horse goes neigh, the duck goes quack, the LSV goes ch-ch-chu.
"This whole pack's gonna wheel because there aren't any cards in this pack" XD
Lol. when turn 1 Iona looks like a sad play ...
Fair and fun magic, like Dr. Garfield intended. ;D
I actually think out of the busted archetypes in Vintage Cube, this deck really comes closest to how richard garfield intended magic to be played.
I agree, black lotus, draw spells, and big creatures were all in Alpha. Playing Shandalar right now and my deck is essentially draw 7s into moxen/lotus/mana vault to play 6 mana creatures. So, as intended.
Thanks for these TH-cam uploads LSV. I can stomach very few streamers but you are quite interesting to watch.
Good choice backdooring into ramp. Without yawg will, storm might as well be a pile of cards
This is one of the biggest stompings I have ever seen in cube... poor guys :(
41:55 Should've taken just the forest off of FoF for the sick brags lol
Sneak Attack isnt the trap, Show and Tell is the trap
I would consider a sneak attack a trap.
Troy Moore no, it's a top card to pick
Sneak attack forces you into an archetype to be sure, but there are a lot of payoff cards in this cube. Said payoff cards are the reason Show and Tell is not optimal: you get a sweet card, but they'll have a sweet card more than likely too
Was a joke, ya know. A sneak attack? nvm then :(
Generiname non storm is a trap
46:55 It's not insignificant that he says blue three out of the first four times here.
"Opponent has a Seeker of the Way by the way."
Magic is fair and balanced
Is there a record for finishing a league in a given time? < 45 minutes seems like a good start

that was an insane deck. Why draft boring storm when you can beat your opponent with giant green men?
Awesome as always, Love your drafts LSV big Fan here :D

15:44 The Atarka synergy (15th month resub immediately following pick)
that deck was vile
This does beg the question: At what amount of Burrito's do you start running into diminishing returns (the concept, not the card)?
Depending on how old you are, somewhere between 1000 and 10000, I'd guess. Ten thousand is enough to eat one every day for thirty-ish years, and by then I imagine you'd either be thoroughly sick of them or dead.
Craterhoof had to be the pick over Grim Tutor. that early with the Trop already taken
not when you secretly want to force storm
@@intuit13 i mean he even said grim tutor was mediocre in storm so not sure why not Craterhoof tbh
In Ireland, they have a saying: When a boat runs ashore, the sea has spoken.
About 10:00 he ask, “What’s going on here?” And I’m screaming on the inside storm is WIDE OPEN. Haven’t finished the video yet, just expecting some primo stuff not to wheel.
how come jace can bounce iona naming blue?
I wish there was another 3 or 6 rounds to play. These oponents put up very little resistence.
Please remove logo from chat
Well. That was a thorough browning.
Does anyone know how to take part in these legacy cubes? (Mtgo noob here ;))
Dries Verhoeven depends on the season. I suggest following mtgo on twitter so you know when cube is out
*vintage cube; it's in the limited events -> leagues section of mtgo
You know what makes these drafts more simple?
Mono red
Lsv seems so chill
So instead of storm 'we' drafted a Hurricane ? sure a storm may kill a camel, but this clearly and simply broke the camel's back...
No ulamog?
Prediction: LSV drafts blue cards
mostly green cards though
what's the point of drafting for green if you can't get craterhoof like what are you doing
LSV playing such a degenerate deck is just sauce, raw sauce...altough you could have gotten a pretty sweet storm deck as well :)
no ketchup.
15 mana, power on hand, power on top of library. "Seeker of the way?... Cool"
I mean, Timetwister is BARELY power.
Wtf 2 power in the same pack!?
I've seen 3 multiple times. I'm not going to swear on it but I think I've seen 4 but then again it's more than possible that one may have been 3 and a sol ring or something else that's basically power but not true P9.

51:30 should have leveled up the treespeaker just in case
I am not at all surprised that LSV was a blitz player lol
Whenever a friend and I play a phyrexian revoker and the ability doesn't matter we name Joven's Ferrets
actually is great naming "abandon hope" as extra bad manners XD
17:20 gearhulk's gonna wheel- all these cards are gonna wheel the whole pack's gonna wheel no one's gonna take any cards cause there aren't any cards in this pack
stay true!
Cube Speedrun
Reanimator was sooooo open this draft
*Passes fifth pick craterhoof* wHaT AM i sUppOSeD tO bE!?

"LSV ruins the nut green deck"
Luck Skill Victory
Senpai
Please provide an option to not see the player. Thank you.
LSV, I love you but the deck this draft was definitely BUG storm.
Annoying to have the CFB logo on top of the chat. Are they really that worried about the video getting stolen?
They have the logo there on all the videos. Other people don't have twitch chat though.
I'm aware of that. They should probably think of something else (like a smaller logo) on these twitch videos. I do like that it's no longer obscuring the dialogue box though.
Consider stopping with the CHU CHU CHUUUUUU-sounds, some viewers may find it slightly annoying
Mr Freund no idea what you're talking about
"Some viewers"? You couldn't possibly be talking about yourself?
busted deck busted draws busted player, the 3 hit combo
