  • Potential Risks-
    A raw vegan diet may also come with some risks - especially if you don’t plan it well.
    May Be Nutritionally Unbalanced
    Vegan diets can be appropriate for all life stages - as long as they’re well planned.
    Vitamin B12 is one example of a nutrient naturally lacking in a raw vegan diet. Getting too little of this vitamin can lead to anemia, nervous system damage, infertility, heart disease and poor bone health.
    While anyone can have low vitamin B12 levels, vegans not taking supplements are at a higher risk of deficiency.
    In fact, one study found that 100% of participants following a raw vegan diet consumed less than the recommended 2.4 mcg of vitamin B12 per day. Moreover, more than a third of the participants were vitamin B12 deficient at the time of the study.
    However, the use of supplements is often discouraged on a raw vegan diet, due to the belief that you can get all the nutrients you need from raw foods alone. This can increase your risk of nutrient deficiencies.
    Raw vegan diets also appear to be low in calcium and vitamin D, and proponents often discourage the use of iodized salt, which may further put you at risk of deficiency.

    May Weaken Muscles and Bones
    Several aspects of a raw vegan diet may result in weaker muscles and bones.
    For starters, this way of eating tends to be low in calcium and vitamin D - two nutrients needed for strong bones.
    In one study, people on a raw vegan diet had lower bone mineral content and density than those following a standard American diet (23Trusted Source).
    Some raw vegan foodists may be able to get enough vitamin D from sun exposure.
    However, older adults, people living in northern latitudes or those with darker skin may be unable to consistently produce enough vitamin D from sun exposure alone.
    What’s more, a raw vegan diet tends to provide very little protein - often less than 10% of your total number of calories per day (23Trusted Source).
    Though such low protein levels may theoretically be sufficient to meet basic biological needs, some evidence links higher intakes to stronger bones.
    Protein is also important for preserving muscle mass, especially during periods of low calorie intake that lead to weight loss - such as can be expected on this diet (41Trusted Source).
    May Promote Tooth Decay
    Raw vegan diets may also increase your likelihood of tooth decay.
    This may be especially true of diets which include a lot of citrus fruits and berries.
    These fruits are thought to be more acidic and more likely to cause erosion of your tooth enamel.
    In one study, 97.7% of people on a raw vegan diet experienced tooth erosion to some degree, compared to only 86.8% in the control group.
    However, more studies are needed before strong conclusions can be drawn.

    May Reduce Fertility
    In some cases, a raw vegan diet may reduce fertility.
    In one study, 70% of women following a raw vegan diet experienced irregularities in their menstrual cycle. What’s more, about a third developed amenorrhea - a condition in which women stop menstruating entirely (43).
    Additionally, it was observed that the higher the proportion of raw foods, the stronger the effects. The researchers calculated that the women eating only raw foods were seven times more likely to experience amenorrhea than other women.
    Scientists note that one of the main ways a raw vegan diet may impact a woman’s fertility is by being very low in calories. This may cause women to drop too much weight, reducing their ability to menstruate.

    In the comments I noticed many are abusing this gentleman asking him to reread the ancient texts for better understanding. This is probably due to his comment at the very end where he suggests to eat raw daal for a while and see for ourselves the consequences. I don't think he should have picked this particular example since no one in their right senses will every eat raw daal (with the exception of ankurit/sprouted green moong and black grams, that too in small quantities maybe in the morning) I think what he is trying to say is a strict diet of just raw veggies/fruits isnt good for the body in the long run and he is 100% correct. Ayurveda says that excessive amounts of anything for a prolonged period is harmful for the body so food needs to be balanced and variety is crucial. Ghee/oil lubricates the body and is so important for bile secretion without which fat soluble vitamins like vit d cannot be absorbed by the body. But juicing and eating salads is also equally imp since the more one cooks the food in high heat all the phytonutrients get destroyed. He isn't against raw food just asking to eat in moderation like salads and chutneys and kanjis. Another very imp point where is is correct is not everything is suitable for everyone and while raw food maybe beneficial one needs to see how ones body is reacting to a certain food. Many of us don't have the necessary enzymes and gut bacteria to properly digest certain food like milk for instance.

    We should include 30 to 40 percent Raw food items daily. This means balanced diet. Carb, protein, good fats all are important for us.
    Cooked :dal rice Roti sabji
    Raw: Green vegetables, salad,dry fruits, sprouted
    Also we should consume food in which water content is high.
    Ex: bread, meat( which is eaten in western culture) very low percent of water, this is dangerous.
    It is being said that a big part of digestion actually start within our mouth, proper chewing helps further digestion. We Indians know all things from the beginning but sadly we believe in foreign culture, we think adapting their culture means modernization. I have no reason to hate India and Indian culture. We are very blessed that we born in India, Rich in all forms. We should protect our culture.

    He's true. Eating raw leafy vegetables increased my acidity so I started cooking well and eating. Basically only few vegetables I eat raw and it has helped me

    I am sorry to say sir when they say raw food diet it does not mean rice and wheat.. it means vegetables dry fruits and fruits and that to vegetables which is eatable in raw form.. the things which are not eatable in raw form is not included in raw food. This is not the correct info. I am sorry to point this out but this is not the correct guidance..

    You are perfectly right sir. I have been eating Lettuce, Kale, Zuchini, Carrots and Pomegranates all mixed in a big bowl (250 - 300 Gms) daily for 2 months. But since last few days I have started having muscle pain, having kat kat sound in knees, Fingers of Hands and feet, and I have issues of Vata and it has aggravated of late due to over eating of green salads. Thanks for the same. I will stop eating green leafy vegetables as Vata has increased a lot and have getting pains in areas around knees and shoulders. Will have Gajar, Mooli, kale, etc in moderate qty. 🙏

      Ayurveda trumps NK Sharma, Reiki Healing Foundation every single time. Ayurveda is a balanced approach for long term healthy life and sustenance. Just like how fasting is a good thing as it helps in detoxification but it can't be done every single day and be made an everyday lifestyle. Similarly, eating only raw food or only cooked food forever is not right way as well. Both things should be included in diet in appropriate quantity.

    हा, अगर आयुर्वेद कहता है तो ठीक है मैं वैसे कुदरती सच को मानता हुं डॉ. राजीव दीक्षित के साथ। 😘😘😘😘☺😇🤓🤔😏🙏💪👌👍👏 वैसे मै खाने के पहीले ४ तर कि कच्ची सब्जिया अपने वजन के हिसाब से ५३*५=२६५ ग्राम इतना खाता हु ओर बादमें अपना घर का पका भोजन खाता हु। यह मैने डॉ. बिष्वरूप रॉय चौधरी से सुनकर किया था उनकी वह डी.आय.पी डाइट, लेकिन अब मैं घर के पके भोजन को जादा ताकतवर मानूंगा उसपर मेरा विश्वास बढ गया, धन्यवाद इसपर सही विडिओ बनाने के लिए।😊😎👌👍🙏

    I like your post but dear I am not agree with your view on raw food. Here recommendation of raw is only for raw eatable vegetables and fruits.

    आप सही कहा है कि इंसान को अपनी सेहत को संतुलन में रखने के लिये पहले स्वयं के शरीर को देखना होगा कि हम शरीर से मोटे या भारी है और हम अपनी चर्बी कम करना चाहते है या हमारे शरीर मे कोई पथरी या नसों में कोई गाठ बन गई है । इन सब को देखते हुवे ही हमे शरीर को कच्चा खिलाना होगा नही तो शरीर कमजोर हो जाएगा और जो लोग शरीर की जरूरत से जादा तो खाते ही है तभी उन्हें रोग आते है और उन रोगों को ठीक करने के लिये भी ऐसे या ये लोग कच्चा खाना या दवाई भी जादा ही खा जाते है और संतुलन में कभी भी नही आते । कच्चा खाने का भी एक निश्चित अवधि समय को भी ध्यान में रखना होगा । हमारे शरीर को हर वस्तु को एक निश्चित मात्रा में सभी चीज़े चाहिए नही तो एक चीज़ को ठीक करने में शरीर की दूसरी कि ताकत में कमी आ जाती है तो सब चीज़ो को संतुलन में लेना जरूरी है ।

    *Kacha khane ka fayda yahi hota hai ke vo Alkaline hota hai. Kache ko jab ham paka lete hain to vo Acidic ho jata hai. Jyadatar logo ki body lagataar paka hua khane ke karan Acidic ho jati hai. Issi liye kacha kane par jor diya jata hai. Cancer jese rog Alkaline body me kabhi nahi hote vo sirf Acidic body me hote hain. Ye pramanit ho chuka hai.*

    I just want to say that those who are following raw diet never criticized Aayurved. They don't criticize any diet system. They don't eat pulses in the manner you have described in this video. They eat sprouts. If anyone person makes mistakes while following a perticular diet plan doesn't mean that there is something wrong in the system itself. I am following NDS and proudly say that it is the best for me. I don't comment on any other system. One more thing please follow what you like but don't criticize others. Kaccha hi sachha.

    Some things is good or bad for someone. I have tried with raw cabbage juice but after drinking lots of problem like pressure in throat. But when I have taken cabbage in form of boil subji then nothing happens it's easy digestable.

    He is right.. I tried most of salads and skipped my diets to loose my weight . And in long time I have retained weakness in my nervous system. I was feeling very good for starting years ...but later in a longer period of time I am having lots of physical problems.
