    Thank you so much for the great tips! I always go for yours because you have a way of teaching which works (I teach ppl to teach!) and what works is that you consider what works and what doesn't and why it doesn't. So often I see videos of ppl who can face paint amazingly....but I don't really get 'how' they have done it...but you do what you say and you give Sophie's tips. Thank you for inspiring me and when I feel that I am not very good I go back to your videos and it always seems more simple again. Thank you

      Your kind words mean a lot to me, you have no idea! It is always hard to find the right level of explanation. Some might think it's too much talking, too many irrelevant explanations and some welcome a slower pace and more step by step instruction. I try to put myself in my shoes when I was a beginner and think about the kind of information I would have liked to find back then. I really appreciate your comment, thank you!

    Sophie - your videos are amazing - so helpful, thank you!! I have only just started (today!) to try some face painting on my kids and spent last night going through a lot of videos and materials on youtube and internet. Yours I like the best!!
    Please, for a true beginner, would you tell me how you get the brush paint for so long (long enough to make an actual line or actually many lines)? I might have the wrong paint and wrong brushes (using some old stuff I got to practice on) and I am most definitely lacking skills, but seems like even when I follow your tips on how to double load the brush, etc, I can only make couple of very short strokes with the brush before the paint is gone.
    Is there a simpler way - mainly for the outlining with black - something like an eyeliner/pencil perhaps?
    Thank you so much and again, many thanks for the videos!
    PS: And I do really like your voice & accent, it's very calming and pleasant to listen to. I must say, after watching so many videos, it's important too! :-)

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Zzz Vvv Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm glad you found me and that you enjoy my tutorials. The challenge with loading the brush and getting enough paint on it is a typical problem at the beginning. I assume you already watched the video where I explained how to load the brush, right? Two things you might want to look for: a quality brush with thick enough bristles (the thicker they are, the more paint they "hold") and the right consistency of paint. The consistency is the hardest thing to get at first. But don't worry, you will get it! It takes some practice and cannot happen in just one day. The brush needs to be reloaded regularly but you should be able to paint 4 to 5 long lines with one load. Make sure your paint is wet enough and that you work the consistency to a thick paste. I would also recommend practicing your line work with a wax-based face painting brand to begin with. There is no other way, I'm afraid. A regular eyeliner or makeup pencil is not appropriate for face painting. If you are interested, you can buy a so-called "liner brush" but it's so thin that it holds even less paint so your lines will be even shorter... Hope this helps. Please write again if you have any more questions!

    Love your tutorials your great 🦄. I'm new to face painting and I got a practice head, it stains so bad and I've tryed everything, I have a trick lol it sounds strange but all u do is wash the practice head and dry it, use peanut butter on a paper napkin, I know it sounds strange but it totally works even with old stains ,makes it as good as new I promise , it's crazy hahaha just use a circular motion and it comes straight off xxx

    • @SophiesTipps

    I have a practice head and to clean mine I spray 2 layers of hairspray over it before you start painting, let it dry, it will stain a lot less. When I'm finished I wash with soap and water and I also use rubbing alcohol and "Mr. Clean" magic eraser to get off any paint residue and it works like a charm! That way you can use and colors light and dark!

      @SophiesTipps  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Sophie! I am thankful for your experience and knowledge! Do you use a Sealer after you complete your designs? I fear little children will "sweat" off their water-based face paints (Mehron Paradise). Have you any problems with that?

    • @reginasingotani2389
      @reginasingotani2389 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jamesqqj cool

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot. No, absolutely no sealer. If children sweat or cry, the paint will run off, that's the way it is... I've experienced that and "fixed" some designs that had been partly ruined but I live in a cold and dry climate where sweat is not really an issue. If you live in a tropical climate, you might find this more of a challenge. In this case, you can consider using powder-based makeup (such as Starblends for example). The colors are not as bright and vivid but they can withstand humid conditions a lot better. Hope this helps!

    Liebe Sophie, Deine Tipps sind so wertvoll, manche Videos schaue ich wieder und wieder, und übe daran. Doch mit einem tue ich mich wirklich schwer. Ich bin Rechtshänder, und zeichne die rechte Gesichtshälfte leichter als die linke Gesichtshälfte der Vorlage. Und das Problem: die beiden Hälften werden nicht symmetrisch. Besonders bei Verzierungen und den Schmetterlingen mit ihren Schnörkeln. Hast du da vielleicht einen Tipp?

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja ein Tipp hätte ich schon: ich empfehle bevor du überhaupt anfängst ganz kleine Punkte auf dem Gesicht mit sehr wenig weiße Farbe zu markieren. So kannst du z.B. die obere und untere Kante des Flügels markieren. Beim Zeichnen weiß du dann wo sind die "Grenze" des Motivs. Ein anderes Tipp wäre dein Motiv mit der Linke Seite anzufangen. Dann kannst du die für dich leichtere Seite an die andere anpassen. Aber wichtiger ist, nicht zu kritisch auf dich selbst zu sein da die Kinder nicht auf sowas achten. Die Symmetrie wird kommen, keine Sorge. Es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit. Einfach weiter üben. Wird schon klappen, das weiß ich! 😉

    • @SophiesTipps

      Aha, interesting... But I am wondering how this can work because face paints are water based and coconut oil... well, an oil. Not necessarily a good match... 🤔

    So today I am going to a school carnival and sense I am good friends with the school, I will be working the face painting booth! At first I was totally excited and stuff because I would be working with a friend and she could help me, but she can't now and I am all on my own! I am an artisit and I love to paint but I have not done any face painting before! Any tips? Thank you!

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      My main and most important tip is just.... relax! You don't need to be perfect and paint as well as your friends. Kids love face painting and are happy with vibrant colors and lots of glitter (for the girls!). If you plan to work with a display, try to limit the number of designs to a minimum so that you can practice those only ahead of time. I know that the first events can be very nerve-wracking but it gets better with time, don't worry!

      I use TAG, mehron, kryvaline, Wolfe (stay away from snazaroo as it is very thin and will streak on the kids faces. It’s ok but not good.

    One question why my paint running on my manniquin😢

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume it's because you are using too much water with the paint. Try to get a "creamy" consistency before you apply it. It might also be the paint you use, maybe it is not pigmented enough so you feel you need to add more and end up with a running texture. The practice heads are made of plastic so it helps a lot to apply a layer of solid foundation on the head before starting. Hope this helps and good luck!

    Rubbing a drawing eraser across a clean plastic rubber head before putting paint on it might help paints go on smoother and blend easier. It may be more effective for some type heads than others.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great tip, thanks for sharing it. I will definitely try that in the future!

    • @IfeTheStoryteller

      Thanks Sophie. I don't know if this will work with all practice heads. I left that one in another city and had to buy a different head. I clean this one with 91% alcohol and carefully scrub it with a Brillo pad and it works fine without damaging the head.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I heard that using 90% alcohol actually does more harm than good because it strips the plastic off its upper layer and becomes unusable after a while... We can't find any alcohol higher than 70% in Europe so I could't test this myself...

    • @IfeTheStoryteller
      @IfeTheStoryteller 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, that's interesting. I'm using a Mehron practice head and several people who have the same practice head swears by it. They say they have had their heads for several years. (At least those persons who rated it on Amazon makes that claim) I haven't had mine that long as I start and stop my painting but for the few times I have used it, I haven't been disappointed. But that's good to know and I will be careful. I also will use the eraser again. I just haven't used it on this type head yet. Thank you for the information.

    • @SophiesTipps
      @SophiesTipps  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried the Mehron head but I am sure it's excellent quality because most Mehron products are. It could be that it was made specifically to "resist" even to the toughest detergents. Hard to say but I certainly hope so for you. In any case, this is very useful information for anyone else reading this and who might be looking for a good practice head. Thank you very much for sharing this info! 😘
