Engine hydrolock prevention for Avanza 1st & 2nd models. Water dripping from the windscreen onto the airbox and flow down into the air filter seal channel. Via the side slot of the airbox water flow into the airbox, throttle body, intake manifold and up in the combustion chamber. Next... hydrolock could happen and damage the engine. Instead of putting overhang over, you can cover the airfilter channnel slot opening from inside by glue something from inside the airbox.

Bale for prevention lang ba yan sir para di na makapasok yung tubig sa airbox? Pero may water mark na yung airbox mo, ibig sabihin ba nun napasok na ng tubig yung throttle mo pero di ka naman nagpa-overhaul ng makina, tama ba sir? I mean may ginawa ka ba nung napansin mo na napasok ng tubig air filter box mo? Masisira ba agad makina in case may nakapasok na tubig sa throttle o hindi naman?
Kaya pala nalito ako saan nanggaling ang tubig,tapos weekly ako nag engine wash,kasi binahayan nang daga,kaya ngayon nag top overhaul ako,kasi naghalo yung tubig at langis

@@froilanlogronio5996 wag kayo palagi magpaengine wash lalo Lang makakasama sa engine and eletricals, sa buong 13 years ng avanza ko, 2 beses lang ata ako nagpa engine wash. Kaya siguro wala akong naging problema sa engine ko, aircon compressor at brake master lang napalitan this year.

I know this is an old thread. That is the best solution from keeping water to enter inside the engine via trottle, manufacturing defect ng Toyota Avanza gen1 and gen 2 yan yung airbox cover yung harap nakasaklob siya pero yung sa likuran nakapatong lang, ang tubig doon dumadaan galing sa gutter. Ito ang kulang sa Pinas kung sa ibang bansa recall na yang mga unit at papalitan ng Toyota ng air box, factory defect yan eh.

Looks like a double face tape to stick the improvised roof to the thing, and the other side looks like normal American tape

Original air filter po ba gamit nila? Just checking baka kasi di nagseseal ng maayos pag di original.
