- After taking a few loops on Greenfield Lake I decided to see how far the Watersnake T24 trolling motor would go powered by the ECO=WORTHY lithium battery. The goal was to see how much life remained in the battery after an 8 mile non-stop run on the Cape Fear River.
This battery is amazing and i now have another one. I have a list of future videos planed with these batteries on the Kayak and with other devices.
Future Maker Monday videos;
22 Mile trip on Cape Fear River with only 1 battery.
Install a Garmin Striker 4 on the Lifetime Kayak.
Camping!!!!
DIY tin Can Rocket Stove
DIY Buddy Burner Stove
DIY Sterno Gelled Fuel refill attempt.
Cheap Chinese diesel heater project revisit.
I am trying to grow my channel and create better content, if you have a suggestion please leave an on topic comment.

Hi, That setup works well for you by the look of it. Am about to buy a motor plus battery for my kayak, still deciding on size vs price. I just wanted to let you know that measuring a lithium ion battery voltage at rest is not an accurate indication of state of charge (how much power is left in it) in the battery. While this method is OK for AGM type batteries, lithium batteries maintain an almost stable voltage until near depletion. Even at 80% discharge (20% remaining) a lithium battery still reads about 12.9 volts. With your voltage of 12.66 (as measured) your battery is about 85 % discharged (15 % remaining). If you are a long way from shore with that voltage, you better have a good paddle and packed lunch. A more accurate way of determining the state of charge in a lithium battery is to either buy a state of charge battery level indicator specifically designed for lithium batteries, or calculate the A/H draw on the battery over your given time of the trip. This assumes that you know the current draw of your motor and how to calculate the total power drawn. It is not difficult to do, and a fairly accurate method. Happy kayaking to you.
Good info, bananab. Have you seen any evidence of the Watersnake issue that I mentioned in my other comment?
So it seems that the allegations on some Euro-based documentation that the Watersnake motor warranty is voided on Lithium Ion batteries. I was just about to buy the T24 to use in my Propel slot on my Native Slayer. I have a 36V NK300 3hp on the back to get to/from the fishing hole, but I wanted a lightweight, low-power trolling motor in the front just to maneuver around the fishing area and also as a backup motor to assist if the big one dies. I fish big water, sometimes in windy conditions, here in SE Louisiana and want insurance when leaving my pedal drive home. If I can't use a Lithium battery, then I have no use for that motor.
Excellent video
Hello, I thought you are not able to use a LiFePO4 battery on a Watersnake T24 trolling motor but only a deep-cycle lead battery. Many say that the motor is not able to take the constant voltage for long period of time otherwise the electronics will burn or the motor not sure. Let me know how many time you used it to get an idea. Thanks for the video.
I ran mine all day last weekend with a T24 and a LifeP04 50ah battery, yesterday I wanted to do a test on battery consumption and had it in a test barrel running about 1/2 output for a good chunk of the day .. no problems. Mine is on a MinkKota PWM
Very awesome. I have that same kayak I absolutely love it. The way yours is set up is great. I just modified mine with a 36thrust minn kota Wish I would have thought of the weed wacker line hack before I drilled hole’s for a Foot peg control system 😂 🤙
Thanks for watching, For the money I paid the kayak is so worth it. How fast do you go with the Minn Kota?
@@B-rad-and-LBs-adventures I’ll be taking it out as soon as it warms up. I can’t wait 😂 I’m like at 300 pounds of weight me + gear I’m trying to Streamline the absolute essential things so I can discard any unneeded weight. But I’ll be posting a video on the Build Soon. 🤙
I run 2 35 ah batteries . I average 8 hours use on my feelfree lure 11.5 .
What battery charger do you use and/or recommend
I use a duralast that I already had, it has a LifePO setting.
