The thing about the 992 compared to many of the $100+ dollar shoes is: the 992 mid sole feels quite a bit more firm in the mid sole compared to most other offerings from: Hoka, Brooks, Saucony, etc. It takes getting used to.
@@gilesdavis100 People are getting the collabs and they don't unds them. Really hope the NB hype dies so the true fans can get them. Here's to some other brand becoming hype for 2021. Rmbr there was a time you couldn't get a pair of boost.
@@gershom86 After 2 years I would say that they're still a lot better than Nike, where you got dog shit quality and less than 1% chance to even land a decent shoes. And this is coming from a life long Nike fan... New Balance > Nike right now
Is it true that if I'm a 10.5US in Nikes, that I need to buy a size 10 in New Balances ?! I have a pretty standard foot. Not too skinny, and not too wide..
If you can, go to a NB retailer & try them on. I am a TTS 13 US in Nike, Reebok, Adidas, etc. However, I own 990v5 & 990v4 in size 12.5 and they fit me closer to a 13 in other common brands. I also have a pair of NB 992 in a TTS 13, and while there is a bit more space in the toe box than I'm used to, they are not too big to wear comfortably. In fact, the extra toe space is quite nice for long strenuous days. So, basically it comes down to preference, if you prefer a looser feel, go TTS. If you prefer a fit closer to what you experience with other common brands, go a half size down.
I’m deciding to get one but can somebody solve my problem? The problem is I tried this 992 at the shop (Colorful one which I don’t like) first I tried 9US which is a bit too big for me and then I tried 8US which looks good on my feet but a bit tight so I’m planning to buy it from outside which is resell price (Grey OG and GR color) and there is 8.5US(not available for trying in the shop) so which one should I take between 8US or 8.5US?
As always, Great Video!!! When you say half size down, how much space you have it on your toe (a cm, half cm)? I am curious to know because everyone's true to size are different, mine when I say true to size I only have half cm between the toe box and my toe.
I’m not exactly sure in terms of space, but I’d go down a half size from a more generic shoe by Nike or Jordan. For instance I wear a 9.5 in Nike Blazers and a 9.5 in most Jordan retros but heard that these fit a little big, so I went down to a 9 and they fit me perfectly!
@@SteveNatto nice vintage blockbuster video tee brotha. I've been a new balance shoe guy for fifteen years. I've honestly never bought a $175 pair before.....they are usually under $100. I'm going to snag a pair but can't decide on the 992 or 990. My favorite pair is the 990v4,....the navy blue, grey and white. But I can't find a brand new pair because they are on the v5 now. And no way am I buying a nasty used pair of shoes, no matter what shape they are in. So the 990 or 992?.....and what is a couple cheaper pairs of new balances that you like? That blockbuster video tee is worth $75 to $200 if it's from the early 90's. Big time into vintage tees
Lol the Balenciaga Triple S went out of fashion 3-4 years ago. It’s just that the general public is slow. Especially in the US compared to Europe where I live. Everyone are now trying to resell their Tripple S shoes lol. The problem with very specific styles like the Triple S is that was too hyped and very recognizable, so you can’t really wear it again after the trend blew over, as everyone knows and recognizes the shoe… it’s not a classic nor a timeless shoe if you will.
Actually the 990 is the ultimate Dad shoe and NOT the 992. The 992 is basically the Steve Jobs fan boy shoe and that’s why it’s always sold out while the 990 is the ultimate in comfort.

Love the 992! Have the green jjjjounds and a few others. Such a go-to silhouette and crazy comfortable.
For sure!
Wish jjjjound and other boutiques would stay off these cuz it just brings in hype beast who don’t even wear new balances
Gilly - good point. I only buy to wear. Makes it frustrating sometimes, but it unfortunately has just become part of the game.

Hi! I also feel the noticeable pivot point in the insole on my 990v3s. Do you know any solution or any quality alternative insole? Thanks!

My 992 gray is yellowing after a year ? Is that normal ? What should I do bring back the bright gray
For the midsole?

Personally, I go with same size - 11, both Jordan’s and NB. Obviously, it varies based on the structure of your own feet.

I personally chose to go 1/2 size down with my 992s and it leaves enough room to be comfortable and has a closer fit similar to an Air Max that way.
But also I think it depends on how thick your socks you normally wear are.
I like the gray colorway but I don't like the mesh part at all.
993 good alternative
