I spent 4 years in the Army. Didn’t expect a hard hitting piece in the military. Lost friends. Took part in the disastrous withdraw from Afghanistan and watched unbelievable incompetence of leadership first hand. Gave four years and still haven’t gotten a response on my disability claim a year later. For many others it can take a decade.
You're the only one I know who describes that mdma trip. First time I did X in Amsterdam I was sitting under a bridge in vondelpark and I see a TV hanging in the ceiling and I go "wow that's super cool". Buddy asks me what I'm looking at and the TV disappears and I just say "nothing" cuz I realized my box was temporarily gone
I live in Germany and when my mother was terminal in the final stage of her cancer, our doctor left a lot of incredibly strong medicine in her bedroom at our house. We gave her fentanyl mouth spray whenever it seemed she needed it to ease her pain. We had 300ml of BAYER heroin in the room, in case it got even worse. That had to be administered by a doctor however. Drugs have a place, the conversation needs to change.
I did 2 tours to Afghanistan and Iraq. Gave almost 8 years in the danish forces. Recently got out to study law, and couldn't agree with you more. It was refreshing to hear how you could describe exactly how I feel, if anything I feel less of my country now..
Slight correction at 23min~, the US has had military service for citizenship for decades, the bigger issue is that the Department of Defense can't actually give people US citizenship, it doesn't have the authority. They have to file paperwork with the Department of Homeland Security, most of the time it's fine, and there are tons of reminders given out through basic training and technical schooling/advanced individual training where instructors are like 'hey, non citizens, do your paperwork', but ultimately some fall through the cracks or are denied for some reason or another. Many of the issues with the VA stem from the US healthcare system in general, or the lack of a single-payer option, the VA acts like that for veterans but only for conditions connected to military service (with a few exceptions, like they just assume you have hearing damage for many MOS's/AFSC's regardless of if it is actually service connected). If there was a single-payer option and all service members just got full coverage there would 90% less hate of the VA, the actual VA hospitals are actually quite good, in many cases, much better standard of care than anything a civilian hospital in rural North Dakota is going to provide, the wait times and appointment process could certainly be improved though.
Spent quite a bit of time with psychedelics, its definitely helped with things like ptsd and just overall keeping my ego in check. I remember growing up, I was too young but they're was a magic mushroom stand in portobello (london), i think around the early 2000s when tony blaire was getting into bed with the bush, he banned mushrooms to get the heat off him at the time, which is a shame. Psilocybe has never taken a soul, it merely convinced you by sheer astonishment that it has.
Absolutely love me some ye olde rich growing up stories. That one where you shaved your head, got dumped, "negotiated" some mushrooms and attempted sheep telepathy still creases me. Great content mate. Takes me back to IHIH. Signed, degenerate Australian CS Fanboy
stamcell eating & worshipping richard as thumbnail yeah banger incomming ! i will sadly not be attending this time around in Denmark Richard i got a ton to do at my new job sadly.
Love these drug stories Richard. My best story off Molly was doing it all night from like 10pm - 10am and then going to an Anime convention and tripping the fck out walking around.. Went to a Pizza Hut after the con and remember my teeth chattering while ordering food.
I agree with what you said about psilocybin. It made me so much more empathetic to animals. It made me want to go vegetarian. It taught me about the fact that we use animals without their permission. Not to mention we kill them just for food, I felt terrible at the thought of eating an innocent animal who had zero control over their life. Amanitas are also very interesting and the effects of ibotenic acid and muscimol. It's life changing stuff. I will add I learned a lot about other stuff too while using psilocybin in small amounts. It really is a teacher. I think people assume it's a drug that makes you have wild experiences, but it's not true unless you do heroic doses. In small doses it's a very pleasant experience, I experienced euphoria the first time I did it. I couldn't believe how beautiful everything was, I stared at a palm tree in someone's front yard for like 5 minutes late at night lmao. Where I live in Melbourne Australia, we have Psilocybe Subaeruginosa.
As a researcher who works with LSD and MDMA analogues (in Australia), I can say that the outlook that Richard has is pretty spot on. No molecule is good or bad and I believe that there is no drug that has made it into the main stream (baring perhaps 4-bromo-amphetamine and 4-chloro-amphetamine and a few other extremely neurotoxic ones) that has no medical value. Also people should be allowed to choose to use them recreationally, I’m very apprehensive towards the extreme medicalisation of drugs but it seems like the only way currently. Of course addiction can happen to anyone and there are identifiable risk factors for it, but looking at each drug individually the amount of addiction vs amount of people who have used it is always very convincing. If you have had a surgery that you were put under for you have most likely had propranolol (the drug Michal Jackson died from) and fentanyl.
My dad was missed by the Vietnam draft by a single day. He was fully prepared to go to prison rather than potentially kill someone for a bullshit war. Nothing but respect for him
Id be curious to hear your thoughts on RFK and his bid for presidency. Not sure how well known he is outside of the U.S. but he has been gaining a lot of traction especially with young voters (under 40).
Always loved your cs content but the drug stuff u hit the spot tonight Richard. Ketamine has done bad things to me but i also loved it when I party. I dont Know how to explain you are a man of the people
1:00:02 is that pre-covid or current economy worse? Isn't like every west country worse than it used to be pre-covid? Did u cover that topic anywhere else more extensively or do you recommend some articles, videos, podcasts about brexit influence on economy since the topic will be more common in many european countries?
Despite the current volatility in the stock market, there's still a world of opportunity out there! I've been reading up on Bloomberg and other finance media, and they've been sharing stories of people making incredible gains, like over 250k, in just a matter of weeks or a couple of months. It's like a wealth transfer happening right in front of our eyes
when it comes to navigating the market? Seeking guidance from a consultant or investing coach! It may sound obvious or generic, but trust me, it can make a huge difference. Personally, speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio by about 65% since January. It's all about getting that expert advice and support to make the most effective moves in the business.
choosing stocks can be really risky, especially for non-professionals. I learned that the hard way in 2020 when I lost almost everything. But once I started using a financial advisor, things turned around. Now I'm making at least $38k every month! So I'm sticking with investing through an advisor.
It's truly heart- warming reading a lot of testimonials on Brenda Leigh. Her personality, ethics, principles and prowess as a Financial Adviser has gained her fame and recognition around the globe.
