7:40 Wow, I'm usually one of the guys that gets all pissy about silly rules changes. But I couldn't care less about this rule. It seems reasonable but maybe a little harsh. Whatever.
My problem with the Larson rule is that Nascar, which claims it wants to attract more fans, is not encouraging drivers to do other things that help that driver get noticed, and therefore attract more fans. I understand that weather played a factor last year, but so did NASCAR’s decision making at the time. They made an awkward situation more problematic in my opinion.
False because nothing is stopping anybody from doing the 500 and 600 on the same day other than the weather. NASCAR wants it's drivers to prioritize it's races vs other series like Kyle did last year.
Then he should never even try to run to 500 And that he needs to learn to prioritize NASCAR over anything else or retire from NASCAR and can race the 500 all he wants and run every dirt race he can think of
Question, even if Larson would have been able to get into the car in Charlotte last year, he wouldn’t have gotten credit for the race anyway, correct? Wouldn’t it be like when Gibbs pulled almirola from car in Milwaukee to put Hamlin in, where Hamlin won the race but almirola was credited as race winner
I find it silly that you are all in on bringing foreign drivers into NASCAR but oppose actually making sure they can appear in the race. Other than road course their lack of experience would make it difficult to qualify if there are 40 entries. This really means that there is little chance these drivers would qualify for an oval race, especially if it was on a short track. I think the chance to see F1, Supercar, IndyCar, or WEC stars at Martinsville or Bristol would be incredible. I think the so-called Larson rule was necessary otherwise you will eventually see drivers who have qualified with a win (the dumbest rule ever) say they will skip races to go to Lemans, Bathurst, Indy, even dirt tracks like Knoxville, Eldora, and Husets. After all, the payout at those dirt races makes them very attractive for people like C. Bell, Larson, and other dirt aces.
