Linda is the greatest female voice of all time, past and present, no voice comes close to hers, truly one of a kind and she could literally sing anything and completely own it, she never missed a note, and probably the best live singer there ever was. She could sing as soft and sweet as honey one minute and belt it out strong enough to blow out a stadium. Not just her vocals, but her harmonies are like none other, she never tried to drown out or outdo her partner, she caressed her backing harmonies and duets. She and the Eagles are my whole childhood to adulthood, I could listen everyday and never tire of hearing them, their songs are as fresh today as they were in the 70s.

Glenn passed away in 2016 due to complications from rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia. Music has a way of taking its toll on performing artists. This tribute to Linda is one of the best speeches ever prepared for the RRHOF. The lady has great pipes, but that alone is not enough to be considered a great singer, who will be remembered in the future. Linda sings from the heart, with deeply felt emotion and honesty. That connection ensures her place in music history. We love you Linda.
I've never seen a more heartfelt induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame than Glenn Frey's induction of Linda Ronstadt! I can feel their love and respect for each other in my heart. RIP, Glen. Much love to you, Linda.
You can see the sincerity in Glenn's eyes as he spoke. You can hear the heartfelt emotion in Glenn's voice at the end. Love to Linda. Respect to Glenn. You both sang to my soul and made my life better.
If you haven’t heard it and want to shed a tear, Google and listen to Brad Paisley’s “Last Time For Everything.” You’ll see what I mean. Around 1997, I was at arm’s length to Glenn at a free concert in the lounge at Sunset Station Casino in Las Vegas, about 3 years after seeing the entire band outdoors at the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl also in Vegas. Hail to a man who was paramount to the soundtrack of my youth!
So true... several times I heard Linda's version of a song before the "original artist hit version", and when I heard the original artist it was like "not bad, but Linda's is the killer, definitive version."
I don't mean this to be critical, but I simply cannot imagine how anyone could think of Linda as either underrated or under appreciated! Read just the first paragraph of her Wikipedia article! "She has earned 10 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award." And that's just the beginning! Sold over 100 million records! She WAS the soundtrack of my life and many others!
I had the pleasure of seeing Linda with the Eagles and Jackson Brown during my teens at the Capitol Center in DC. Great vocalist and there will be no other like her again.
Linda live was transformational for tough guys. Only female Solo performer that filled arenas with guys, boys and men. Loved her music and her vibe. Judging by most comments the boys are still listening to her. That is rare.
What a beautiful heartfelt induction speech by Glenn Frey, you can feel the love he had for her and that time of their lives and careers. RIP Glenn and Linda could sing the alphabet..
@@dotjai330 Ah the memories of the Palimino Club - I was there everytime John Stewart appeared. Sitting at the bar, you could see over the heads of the people at tables, and look right into the band. Loved it ! How I miss 'The Ole Lonesome Picker.' An album a year for over 40 yrs ! RIP John . . .
Anyone who doubts Ronstadt's rock and roll cred wasn't there or is a fool. She rocked harder, when she felt like it, than half the posers in the sanctimonious hall. Linda...still the only girl I could listen to forever.
No need to compare or cast shade on any other RRHOF inductees; Linda's brilliance and talent and love of music was a bright light that illuminated everyone around her, and now illuminates the other RRHOF inductees, that they were deemed important enough to be mentioned in the same conversation with her. I do get your point, though, that some of the RRHOF selections can be baffling compared to more talented and successful artists that are not yet in the Hall.
What a beautiful singer I was blessed to have Seen her twice in concert singing the wonderful mariachi music. She could sure belt out those high notes. Made me so proud to be a mexican american
I saw her in 1977 at MSU I was 10' from her in Jenison field house Fell in love with her vocals and incredible performance forever Praying for you now and today
I spent my free time in the restaurants/ bars around Westwood Village listening Canciones de mi Padre songs while doing my masters degree at UCLA. What a comforting time.
Linda was a great experience vocally and visually. No freaking pretentious BS and the boys in the bands LOVED to surround those pipes. Met a guy who played on a record of hers - he said she was a remarkable musician.
Linda was one of a kind, blessed with incredible vocal skills, then pushed it through the stratosphere. A shining star whose body of work will always be there for future generations for as long as there are future generations.
At my Mexican Restaurant in San Antonio in 1988.....we played "Canciones de Mi Padre" on a continuous loop. If you didn't want to hear it again....we would show you to the door.
I absolutely loved her pairing with J.D Souther when their voices become ethereal in "Hearts Against the Wind", from the Urban Cowboy Soundtrack. I cry whenever the first chords are unleashed
Beautiful tribute to the godmother of the Eagles by a grateful Glenn Frey. Sad that illness hit Linda so hard, but she made a huge mark on the world of music. The voice of a true angel.
I love you Linda Ronstadt and all the music you've given us. Glenn Fry you're a great guy too, we lost you far too soon! RIP Glenn you will be deeply missed, seen you three times in Winnipeg with the Eagles. Wish Linda would have come here!
In high school I took a field trip to Death Valley. Shortly after starting the return trip (6 hours I think) we played Linda's Greatest Hits I all the way back - best bus trip ever!
It’s cruel that Linda has had her wonderful singing voice stolen from her. But thank God she was able to share it with us as long as she did. I was turned on to her music back in 1975 by a friend of mine while I was in the USAF. I still listen to her music almost daily. Thank you Linda, for making life better.
She'll always be my favourite singer . Fell in love with her voice the first time I heard her sing Blue Bayou . What a talented lady . Thank you Linda .
My God, what a fabulous introduction for a fabulous woman. Thank you M. Frye for this great sentimental story of her talent and musical history. Will always love and listen to her music…. and yours, rest in peace. You both had legendary careers. THANK YOU BOTH !!!

This made me tear up. 🥺 One of my all time favorite music writer/singer inducting my all time favorite female singer into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. I am truly grateful that I got to see Glenn perform with his band before he passed away. The Eagles played a huge part in my teenage years...back when I was still trying to figure out this thing called life and myself. Linda was a fixture in my childhood. My mom would put Linda's greatest hits album on the record player and we would clean the house to it. My all time favorite being It's So Easy. Thank you, mom, for introducing me to both Linda Ronstadt and The Eagles.
Still debating Linda Ronstadt? Don't. Just listen to that voice express her heart's joys and sorrows. There is so much to her musical legacy. Hearing her LIVE could leave you spellbound.
Very emotional tribute and very emotional to watch Glenn Frey. Glenn seem like a guy who was very true to himself and had his finger on the pulse of everything.
In agreement with you 100%. It is THE BEST INDUCTION! Period. A more deserving talented humble person than Linda Ronstadt does not exist in my opinion. PEACE TO YOU.
Linda's was glaringly talented. I've always loved her voice. So beautiful and graceful. When I found out she was sick my eyes filled with tears, gracefully told us. After all these decades of Linda as the soundtrack, it's incredible to realize Linda is the only rock star with the depth and sincerity needed to succeed with every other style of music she recorded. Freddie Mercury tried, but the results show Linda had something he didn't. Other artists I consider my favourites, men and women, couldn't and didn't even try to do this. Linda is the greatest singer of the latter half of the Twentieth Century. Always on her terms and presented as she truly was.
What a beautiful, heartfelt & well deserved accolade to Linda from one who knew her. Bless you Linda, you hold my heart in the notes you sing & always gave my soul wings to fly. You were that Different Drum, we were always Willin' to stop to listen to. ❤❤❤

Linda is truly a gift to the world. A gift that could sing any song put in front of her. she is the total package wrapped in beauty. the only artist I would be happy to watch lips sync.
what a blessing it is to have Linda Ronstadt's voice recorded with such a huge inventory of excellence. I don't envy her retirement, but she is beloved beyond her amazing talent
So sad to see he's gone but, so gratefull to see him perform 4 times!! Seeing the Eagles get back together was a dream come true. Actually seeing them in concert was an even bigger dream come true!!
Ronstadt had pipes of glory. The devotion of those who surrounded her voice, rocking or crooning, is rare. Deep musical chops and a fierce passion to sing what she wanted, when she wanted and how she wanted. Bored to death of a dying rock scene, she helped create, Linda took that Stradivarius quality instrument elsewhere. Just emotional but beautiful from one talented musician beautiful man to induct a beautiful ❤️ lady God bless you Glenn Frey RIP 🙏 and beautiful Linda ronstadt
Glen and Linda would've made a beautiful pair; how fitting for Glen Fry to be the one to give such a eloquent (and reprimand to the RRHOF board) speech about the woman that helped launch the Eagles career. It took long for Ms. Ronstadt to be inducted, but it was worth it.
The purist female voice to date. I've posted other places. Some might be better rock singers, country singers, etc. But none could do everything as well and Linda with the crisp clear perfect sound. There's a thing called perfect pitch. Linda had perfect pitch. Nothing ever sounded forced. 3 octaves and not 1 of those notes seemed hard for her to hit. Most singer will struggle at top of their range or at the bottom. They hit it but it's work. Linda did it so easily it's criminal. It just flowed out so easy it put everyone else to shame to this day.
She's the one!!! Herself and Joni Mitchell hands down smartest women in the business, am so honored to have been part of the generation who got to experience it. Little did our mothers know how we'd be changed and so far from removed from life as they knew it. Womens Lib ground zero for the masses!
Ronstadt and Frey- 2 artists of incredible talent, integrity and class. Linda deserved in Induction Speech this good and Glenn delivered.

Yeah brah- her rendition of Tumbling Dice is mind blowing.
yeah, only usually it involves DRUGS AND STUPIDITY not rheumatoid arthritis, colitis and pneumonia.
The medication affected his immune system leading to his death from pneumonia. Before Covid people died from colds too.
It's heavy use / experiment with drugs in their younger years not music

Linda was in my Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the late 1970s, when I developed a massive crush on her as a middle school kid.
Linda is owed by so many ! Poney up Eagles !
Gorgeous tribute, thank you Glenn! LINDA deserves every word!
While the "Rock & Roll" hall of shame keeps making a mockery of music, it's great to see Linda being celebrated, as she deserved to be.
Wooo ho..! Emotional feelings comes seein Glenn gosh💔🙏 cant believe hes gone. And of course he was THE one to induct Linda. Always knew they were in love at the very start🙏❤ They always kept this special bond between em awwww my heart💔❤ so moving. I feel his emotion. #missyaGlenn #legends
He was tearing up at the end of this video... Notice the crack in his voice when he says Linda's name.
Well deserved for Linda. My prayers are with you. 🙏 RIP Glenn Fry. Greetings from Canada. 🇨🇦🙏🌹(Love is a Rose)
I have been a Linda fan since the age of 12 or 13 and Glen's speech reduced me to tears... God bless Linda and Glen (rip),
Love has no pride when I call out your name, Linda.
My two favorite musician's! Linda's music is played in my home all the time.In addition, no words can describe my deep admiration for Glenn. R.I.P miss you. ❤️
He seemed to be struggling to not get choked up. I couldn't hold back the tears.
She is by definition The queen of rock. The first female superstar of rock defines her as The. Linda Ronstadt.
Linda was a radio staple in the seventies! What a voice!
Watching this in 2020 ,so so sad as a big fan of both Eagles and Linda R onstadt ...time is cruel so cruel .
Its just life
Time flies on by. Looked in the mirror the other day, & wondered who was looking back at me. . . .
Very cruel indeed. 😥
I miss hearing Linda Ronstadt sing. She had a beautiful voice!! It's so sad that she can't sing any longer because of Parkinson's disease. My thoughts and prayers for her and her family. God bless Linda Ronstadt!! 💖💖💖
Just emotional but beautiful from one talented musician beautiful man to induct a beautiful ❤️ lady God bless you Glenn Frey RIP 🙏 and beautiful Linda ronstadt
That's right!! Linda Ronstad was an inspiration to me!! 🎶🎵❤️
Glenn ALMOST made it through the whole speech without his emotion overcoming him.
Everyone loves her
I had not realized it took until 2014 for induction. Frey is right , she should have gone in with them in 1999
Indeed.
Glenn's facial expression said it all, those living can still enjoy their work, I happen to be one of them since the 70s.
No one like her. Have loved her always. ❤️❤️❤️
She's the one!!! Herself and Joni Mitchell hands down smartest women in the business, am so honored to have been part of the generation who got to experience it. Little did our mothers know how we'd be changed and so far from removed from life as they knew it. Womens Lib ground zero for the masses!
....and Glenn, TO YOU👍👍 THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES🎩🎩🎩 RIP my friend...
