As my first Bandai game I have never understood all the hate that people throw the company's way. But after playing this, wow do I understand. I have been in the game since the start and have lots of staples. But if the prices remain this high I honestly can't justify spending my money on the game anymore. I know that seems extreme. And I love the game. But Bandai are mismanaging the crap out of it. As always though great video! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Also love the playmat I got from you. Thanks again for that too! :)
@@MMK86 Completely understand why you would do that. But have you looked at pre-order prices? OP07 (the one not coming out till June!) is already hitting $200 a box. That's crazy. Who wants to tie up that much money almost 6 months in advance. But it's not only that. You got to pre-order OP06, EB01, and starters too. It's an expensive game no matter how you do the math. Even for a TCG.
@@DefiasBrotherhood you are right the prices on pre-orders have moved quite a bit the past few weeks, OP-06 was 129 around here, now all sold out at 180-199 and only one place has em at 240...OP-07 same, 129 preorder then climbed to 180+ with no stock in sight...hey at least the new decks are partially in stock lol
Yeah it's been fine at certain times, but I really feel for new players trying to get into the game. I have friends interested and it's rough to see them turn away the game because of the cost of everything
They can also add “reprint packs” to the double packs. Instead of flooding us with new Don cards, they can add some of these staple card to those products to help get the cards in players hands
@@Opinionated-By54nder unfortunately it's both at fault. Scalpers set the prices on TCG as people pay for them and then stores copy more or less. Kinda sucks as an endless cycle 🤣
@@Opinionated-By54nder Yeah but stores price it based on tcgplayer/online prices and when scalpers buy out the product supplies go down when demand is going up so prices goes up. Not totally blaming them but they play a factor in prices.
@TheDengmaster415 but why punish ppl that decided to invest early have thier money tied up for 6-7 months and decide to recoup money that was invested in Bandai to make more product
Localized printing would also do wonders for this issue. The fact Japan essentially supplies the whole world with the cards is insane. The cards need to be printed in every major region
@@TheLuffyTCG i guess i meant in amount. They need to heavily invest in that aspect. There’s some. Just definitely not enough plus Bandai Japan still controls the majority of it
@@TheLuffyTCG There are 2 distributors in the US, and 1 in Canada... For NA. The bigger one, in the US, is majorly scummy. They, allegedly, hold stock of a lot of their products and resell later. Also, ALLEGEDLY, certain employees who handle cases for stores, make side deals for products such as: cases, starter decks, pre-release starter decks, and tournament kits. GTS is one of them, and Alliance is the other (FOR THE US). The larger, is allegedly, scummier than the smaller.
One of the easiest things they can do is just add reprints to the English EB sets in catch-up packs like in set 2. Those sets are way smaller which would help justify buying more products for the consumer.
Very true. Although I think the EB sets are gonna be a lower MSRP because of only doing half the cards in a set. I could be wrong but I believe that's the case.
That's one move i don't understand from Bandei. Why are they making a special set like EB and it's literaly just a normal set with a few cards less. This could have been a great way of making reprints of old staples in a different artwork, bringing down prices of singles from op04 and older (as well as some promo exclusice cards). I mean they won't sell those old products anymore, so they wont miss out money by reprinting cards of those sets. Making this set a reprint set and maybe add some nice collectible artworks in there, this set would sell perfectly and make the game way more affordable to sustain the playerbase long-term. 1 reprint set every year with all expensinve singles from the previous year would be awsome and help the game being affordable.
@@Cedric25397the only reason I can see for them not doing that is because sets are designed a year in advance and they couldn’t change the product in time to fit the current demand.
@@Xros808 Yeah, you are probably right. But still, this isn't Bandeis first TCG and also not the first time they have issues with a TCG like this. Why not have some spare reserve in the planning so ghey can adress problems in a 2-3 months time frame? Also planning a reprint set for after a year could have been done in advance and i think the card list could be flexible more short-termed. It would also have been possible to postpone some planned, but not yet announced products to create some capacity for reprints.
If they had any idea what they were doing theyd be doing something akin to yugioh gold series and reprinting a few sets worth of staples in a gift collection-esque way. Its downright depressing how hard it is for people to play the game as a new player.
One problem that im noticeing is that the shortage of product is leading people to hoard cards from even the more printed sets. OP04 Sabo was cheap for a while, 5-6 euros per card, but when it started being very played in Moria and when the ST13 was released there was a huge buyout and the card skyrocketed to 12-15 euros, and a similar thing is happening with OP04 Doflamingo. People are panic buying stuff as soon as some new info is announced and this is making the prices super inflated.
@@TheLuffyTCG The market speculation based on easters releases is something im used to as an old time YGO player, what i would really want is more reprints compared to the easters market considering how well the game is doing xD
More Queen: "is this the real life, is this a fantasy? Caught in a landslide, an escape from reality. Open your eyes, can't you see that i need QUEEEEEN! I'm just a poor boy..."
hard agree. i'm glad i bought most starterdecks in 2's around the time they came out (at least the relevant ones). but if you'd wanna get into the game now and get every (or even some)starterdecks in 2's you'd have to dig DEEP in your bankaccount, which should never be the case for a STARTERdeck. i like what they did with the 3 captains set, adding some old revelevant cards into the mix, but at the same time it was a pretty expensive set...
Sorry to say but I’m glad I gave this game up for Lorcana. The market is more outrageous than it was when the game first came out and they’re really getting out of hand with the alt arts. I’m so glad Lorcana will never have a card as a promo that won’t also be in booster packs.
I thought they were gonna pull a dbz zenkai and release some new decks with a new gimmick, that being the devil fruit, think of the inheritable effects from digimon but for one piece. One devil fruit per card which can't be removed. Or maybe a rule change that allows color mixing in exchange for having less don in your don deck? (1 color, 10 don. 2 colors, 8 don. Ect.)
Adopt the same strategy as the official stores. Make local stores sell at msrp and require them to cut the plastic at time of purchase most of the stock product is groups of people buys mass amount and sitting on them
I think if they made the hit rates so alt arts/ SRs and secret rares are more per box that would help the more there out there the better that way it would have more of that stock out there at a more affordable price. It worked for pokemon
@@TheLuffyTCG like we get what around 7-8 SRs per box make it around 12 and 1 sec and 3 alts per box that would help get the card out there and there would be a lot out there so buying singles wouldn't be crazy
I've watched the first season of the show and the live action on Netflix and loved it but I haven't been able to get my hands on a single card at retail and because of that it makes me not want to attempt playing the TCG or even continue watching the show because if I know I get more into the show and like it I'm still priced out of the TCG or can't find it anywhere. I'm sure there are many of us out there who will never get a chance and it's a shame for the player base
Shit, I've been playing since launch and it's been so hard to build the decks I want because of the cost of boxes for the first 3 sets and getting singles has been a joke.
Since 60% of the double packs is literall useless cardboard, they could introduce in the future an extra pack with previous staples, like a pack containing at least 3-4 staples..
Would be cool if they did something like WotC did with Pokemon way back in the day (I'm old) when they came out with a Base Set 2 and then later Legendary Collection which was basically just a reprint of cards from the first 3 sets but with a different symbol. They could even just include the more popular cards of the first sets. That way we could get our hands on those cards, but cards from the original sets would still hold their value for collectors because it's not just a straight reprint. Even if something like that happened, they'd still need to up their supplies. It's obscene that we don't even have an opportunity to go to a store and buy some packs in the hopes of pulling one of the cards we need.
I do think we need to just gove a little time for some of it, with the tournament pack suggestions i do think that is the correct way to go about kt however i think they kind of already are reprinting staples, but they are staples for what was meta a few months prior, queen has only just become meta relavant really this set so if it were to come in a tournament pack in a few sets time
That's fair, however queen has been a card throughout the whole game now. Every purple deck in the game has used that card so far. It's a bit surprising that they didn't have that included in a TP over other cards that have 6 different arts out in the game
I think they should do what they did for digimon, resurgence booster (reprint 1 with a few new cards)....Only thing I would hold true and I know some may not like it, would be just print the regular arts or specific arts that are new for the card. Only reason i bring this up is so people do not feel jipped on spending hundreds on alt arts at the time. I would feel so bad knowing that Katakuri AA gets the reprint with same art. I think having regular arts though would make it more affordalbe to get staples.
If OP06 is as scarce as OP05 has been I think I’m just going to liquidate most of my stuff, I’ll keep some stuff to play but at the most casual of levels
@@TheLuffyTCG I’ve basically used every alt art I’ve gotten as trade bait for stuff from older sets lol I think I managed to trade a Wanted Poster Luffy I got for a Kat and Kuzan lol
I like all your ideas! I had to tell my friend who wanted to get into the game to either borrow a deck or play a budget deck for now till Bandai fixes something. But that sucks having to be his options.
I agree with you. In Europe we have even a worst situation because we have a problem with the distribution. in some countries a lot of products are sell with fair prices in stores but in other countries it's the opposite. In Italy, as example, they limited the number of Boxes of Op 08 per store (3 case per store). Right now each store can sell a pre-order only for 36 people or less, and we need to consider that in Italy a lot of people play this game (ther are locals with more then 20 people). Meanwhile, if you go to the Bandai store in london (or in other stores in UK) you can find buster pack of Op 02 for like 4/5 £ (i.e. original price). I hope that with EB 01 we (rest of the world) have some reprints , because if not it will means that we will have the double of the cards per Box .
Damn. It's not too different here in the states. Many places don't even get 3 cases. But others get like 20. I don't understand how it works honestly lol
Brothers and I join late op4 and it was tough deciding on dropping money on a deck we don't know will enjoy. Rn is so bad for new players hopefully they can reprint on some of these stable cards.
I feel like I was able to find a good amount of OP04 but I got a box of OP05, and boosters on release day and that’s been it. I just had to trade 3 alt arts for a katakuri. The market is the most frustrating part of this game hands down
I've been playing since op02, and if the stock issues remain the same into op06 I am going to drop the game. Sad because I have invested a lot into the game as of now, but I am not a serious player so getting price gouged on a box or two isn't worth it. Scalpers and resellers have mainly ruined it for everyone. Just focused on buying out all the product they can and then instantly posting them on facebook groups for 3x the pricing.
Yeah definitely not making it good for the rest of the community. But we'll see what direction it goes. I do think some reprints would help and it wouldn't effect market too much honestly
Yeah I've seen that before. A lot of the places I play at have them constantly because people sign up via the bandai app. I also believe it's on the store to order them, so might be worth asking if they can keep up with the orders
I got into the game around end of 03 going into 04, and I remember seeing Romance Dawn packs for $5 at a hobby shop when I flew out to Washington state in July. I passed it up cus I figured I'd get some later when I got into the game since it's a starter set, but uhhhhh... the remorse I feel every day is immense. I have never opened a pack of Romance Dawn, and very little Paramount War. It's insanity when looking at any successful TCG because the first 4-5 sets are the introduction to players and need to be readily available, including any supplementary material like starter decks. The shortages, price hikes, lack of proper printing allocations, etc. is all baffling and pitiful. They need to realize that this IS their priority, not SHOULD BE. Players will bleed out at this rate cus I'm on the verge of just giving up on playing, maybe collect some.
Yeah I don't envy any player that didn't get their hand on product at the beginning of the game. I was lucky that I got everything MSRP, but now pre-orders all the way to set 8 are insanely high priced which is ludicrous
I just started collecting the game and didn’t realize you can’t use Japanese cards to play in the US. I was assuming MTG rules were universal in TCGs where the language doesn’t matter.
I have opened a few boxes of Op02, but still only have 1 borsalino 4 cost, now theyre getting up there, not as bad as sec katakuri, but its a super rare. $50 for one is ridiculous. I also only have one katakuri, and its the alt, so i won't be using that haha.
Ok I have to say as someone who played against a friend with Japanese card it was annoying as heck I could not read his cards he was even annoyed when he played
That's totally fair. I was more expecting the players to understand what the cards do when they are played. But if not that's totally fair. And it might just take the slot of one card out of 4 that they don't have possession of, you know?
He bought the Japanese starter deck but I don’t think that you should recommend this to new players because the cards being expensive and Japanese ones not drove him away from playing the game
@@cardlover7817 oh I didnt recommending this to anyone lol. You can't use them legally at the moment. But if we could, it could be a cheaper alternative
True but if someone is reading this only use the MUCH cheaper Japanese cards that everyone knows and it does become legal don’t make a full deck with Japanese cards lol
Seems to be a bandai thing, DBS Masters had the same problem, around the time Draft Box 4 released, eventually supply became available Digimon had the same problem at first now supply is everywhere & readily available I’m sure one piece will follow this pattern as well
My idea was doing “themed” event packs of like “Top Played Blockers”, “Top Played Rush Cards” or “Top Played Events”. That or adding really playable cards as the SP rarity in new sets. That or just come out with those beginner decks that they hand out having more high use cards. You reprint pack idea is also good 👍
The Solution would be to reprint boxes of 1-5 without AA cards and replace them with starter deck cards. Then you'd only have players buying it and the cards of all the playable cards would come down in price, everyone would have access to promos. You'd get rid of scalpers who wouldn't buy them as they can't make money off them and it would drop down the prices of all staple cards.
I like the idea but I don't think they'd go this route. It'd be great, don't get me wrong! But that would be a whole different print line. I'm optimistic for some remedies in the future though!
Aside from stock issues, you have entire discord communities organizing mass buyouts of key staples as well as alt arts, then reposting the items on an agreed upon price, essentially price fixing to protect their investments. The speculators are not helping this game, only frustrating new players.
What I dislike most about this game is the artificially limited stock. I could not enter into any prerelease events since the game first launched because spots would be booked out almost immediately. I never got into it because I literally cannot even get any starter decks because everything is sold out. It has only gotten worse.
The Internet is serious these days with the card market, hype, ammount of people buying, reselling. Im one of the new players in one piece started with 05 releasing and i can say my experience has been ehh.. not much because i cant find it without paying 3-5× prices
Welcome to the game, the community is pretty dope but yeah product is rough right now. I think this was the most hype set though because of 3 mangas but we'll see if everyone can get their hands on set 6 well enough
If bandai wants to make more money they can go the route of magic and do reprints of older cards and do different formats like standard, limited, modern, etc.
@@TheLuffyTCG I hope so. It's my first bandai card game so I don't know how they've handled it with their other properties. Every other card game has done reprints and the prices of the original cards still hold their values.
They should do a 'duel devastator'-esq product. That was a good starter for most yugioh players and had a god variety of staples and previous format staples. Sure, you had to buy 3 of the product (4 in one piece's case) but you would then have access to Mihawks, Borsalinos, Katakuris etc. I'm not saying print 40 of the highest selling cards. Maybe even just 5-10. But I think it'd help the lack of supply currently. I've been playing one piece since the start of OP02 and OP05 at my locals was insane. They were restricting us from even buying the set on release, I couldn't even have a single box!
My collection is worth more also but if we have more people playing and less people leaving because of prices, then the longevity of the game would make our early cards worth even more! Gotta think about the long game my friend
@@lifeunderthestarstv what high value staple is being reprinted in TPs? Also SRs from OP01-OP05? It's just starter deck cards and random promos. We haven't even gotten queen as a tp card yet 🤣 that's causing massive inflation alone on a starter deck that otherwise isn't all too useful
I don't want to see Japanese cards at local games. With the influx of new players the last thing we need is a bunch of sweaty neckbeards saying "Trust me, this card does X" when it really does Y but the new kid doesn't read Japanese and doesn't know well enough to correct them. It doesn't even need to be intentional cheating, there are some effects in One Piece that are wordy enough you really need to be able to double check the wording in some instances. I've seen experienced players cheat with Rosinante blocker (he can only sacrifice himself to save rested characters), Sugar triggers (it isn't optional) or whether certain searchers can search themselves (Baby 5 can pull out Baby 5 for example). These mistakes happen when the card text is clearly visible to everyone involved, imagine dealing with "unreadable" cards you just have to memorize.... Let's not consider bandaids and just fix the problem. Print. More. Cards.
I understand, other people feel the same way too. I was more thinking of it as a player having 3 of a card but can't get their hands on the 4th so instead they use a Japanese card. Not like the whole deck haha.
I don't think banning or restricting them is necessary. At least not borsalino and Katakuri. But the blue cards from the sabo event maybe. They're almost impossible to find lol. Very low amount of them in circulation
Yeah reprinting while new sets are coming out is probably difficult. Unless they just take a break from new sets for a bit. This year we have what 6 in March, EB in May, 7 in July. Now set 8 has been teased in Japan when they are still teasing set 7!!!!!!!! Like slowwwwwwww down. I know there is a lot of One Piece content to draw from but it will dry up. Set 7 is Egghead…..we are still in Egghead! Take a break Bandai and make mass reprints of sets. Set a MRSP for stores to follow. Stores….limit sales and not like 3 boxes per person. Like one box per person per visit. Something 🤷♂️ all I know is I invested a lot so far (not as much as others but still) and I does make me question if I should just drop it
I will say from an investment standpoint, I'm up personally. Definitely profit if I sell, but I got all my stuff around MSRP when the sets were first launched. I'd like to see more promo packs, tournament packs, and extras in the near future that contain those staples. It would help the longevity of the game.
@@TheLuffyTCG at this point me too. I’ve got most of my stuff at MSRP. A few items I payed more for, very least LGS markup (like $20 for a starter for example). Got in a month late but able to complete most sets by getting the singles “cheap”. OP1 being the most while others like 2-4 cards. I don’t bother with AA unless it’s cheap to buy or I pulled it. But with what I do have opened and sealed I’d definitely make profit now haha. Like the SEC Kata I payed $30 for 😂. But yeah they need to do something. I was kinda hoping when they announced the Memorial Set they would’ve did that. Similar to the Mythic Booster in DBS. Just a reprint set, revisions packs to a big scale! Which those were weird seeing how they released another wave of the first 4 decks a month later that were revised as well. But yeah also agree on the reprints with different art. Mainly because it doesn’t help the older prints go down in price and that artwork they could use later for new cards. Instead of making it confusing when one card has four or more artworks. Another thing to have to remember in tournaments besides card text for each card. I’ve seen people cheat using the same card at a total of 8 because it’s different arts 🤦♂️ So yeah reprint older cards in a way to keep this game alive! It’s a fun game and I’d hate to see it die off in a few years because Pokémon and Lorcana scalpers entered the chat
Bandai has no excuse at this point this game has exploded and its only been a year. I would hate for this game to fall off because of high prices and hard to get cards. I love the idea of TP packs having reprints but they definitely need to stop printing new art 5 cost luffy, searcher nami, and rush zoro
As a new player, I feel like this card game will die out. The prints are so low that I have to drive around for the past 2-3 weeks just to find some cards and the only thing I found was the Ultra Deck The Three Captains. All I see are older people playing this card game (I'm in my 30s so I'm old too). I don't see any young people playing it at all. Why? Because they can't get their hands on it. Pokemon and Yugioh is the card game bc it was and is easy for parents to get their hands on them, etc. Sad sad. I do hope this change as I do enjoy playing the game and wants more people getting into it. Also, I'm not going to go online and support these over price cards online. This is just killing the community and adding to the situation. Also I use some print cards to play with my friends :(
Hey I don't blame you. I was lucky enough that I got into it from the beginning. But building a meta deck now is not easy if you're getting into it. Hopefully things change!
Those games just don't have as good of an IP or a play style. Having more supply in this game would be good for players and collectors. More interest brings more money to it and that will drive up prices of individual cards but simultaneously allow players to get hands on staple cards.
managed to get into some Uta battles in Portland! I'm stoked to get to play with an entirely new group of players. No offense to battle spirits fans (love you medina) but I hope that it crashes soon so they can put those printers to One Piece 😅
Bandai has always missed the mark when it comes to supplying North America in any way. During the pandemic when Gunpla really exploded and became a big thing there were several kits that were normally easy to get that became extremely hard to find at least at a relatively normal cost. P-bandai drops sold out fast. Nowadays kits are mostly in stock excluding a few of the bigger ones overall. But it took them a solid year or two to amend the situation. The OPTCG is one of what seven tcg’s they have to worry about and is arguably the most successful currently and yet they can’t do restocks of sets that are barely a year old let alone less than a year? That’s not greed that’s misunderstanding the market and the playerbase
@@hieinh 100% agree but after a certain point p-bandai became the focus point for scalpers which was a way better way of getting some of the cooler stuff they released. There wasn’t any safeties set in place until much later which is what some places have done with OPTCG. Bandai is outdated in its methods. At least at the bandai stores they’ll unwrap booster boxes when you check out but those stores aren’t as common as they should be.
Yeah I think this is easily the golden egg that they are sitting on and could make a killing by printing more honestly. It would help everyone involved. Even collectors would still have wave 1 product and that's worth more inherently
The Japanese supply is low as well. Its hard to get stock, we can mostly buy via lottery. Some Japanese sellers are hoarding stock and only selling outside of Japan.
I could see that. I wish that the normal cards and most AAs were a little lower because I don't think that would effect manga prices but who knows anymore 🤣
I honestly see this issue happening with lots of different card games I play, but for different reasons. Yugioh has the problem of having chase/staple cards being locked to high rarity and essentially get bought out by resellers/competitive players, locking out casual and new players from using those cards. One Piece is that there aren’t any reprints whatsoever. Sellers of the products also jack it up because scalpers swoop in and buy out stock, which prompts stores and online sellers to do same. MTG unfortunately has both these issues. The only game I believe that has it handled well is Pokemon for two reasons. The first is because their distributor is both heavily infested in them and has a lot of money behind it already. Two is because when they release cards, they are in multiple rarities in their base sets. From highly sought after staples in full and rainbow arts to just rare and commons. It also doesn’t hurt that Pokemon has such a huge fanbase. But yeah my hobby of TCG’s is getting way too pricey.
Yeah couldn't agree more. The stores mimicking the scalped prices is not helpful at all but it is what it is. Would love to see more prints in the near future or tournament packs to alleviate problems with certain singles
We went to an LGS today to learn how to play, and the hosts were completely negative about us using japanese cards in the decks. It wasn't even considered as an option 😢 We love collecting the card for the art, and the Japanese versions have been much more affordable and much better quality so far. Agree with you about the possible solutions to the card accessibility. Hopefully, Bandai "wakes up."
Sorry to hear that :( I know that at the current moment japanese cards are illegal in our format. But realistically for a local tournament I dont know why it would be an issue. I do think this is one of the last resorts that I'd like to see, but we'll see!
How do you figure? Demand and player base is already massive and the show is getting more popular. It's almost like they're trying to make it fail but can't
@ericsilvestrin1662 yeah I want to be wrong. It's so frustrating because Pokemon already solved for this. Can you imagine how cool a OP Trainers Toolkit would be? Like nonfoil staples, a handful of packs, and a nifty promo.
I know you're hinting at scalpers looking for more to resell or horde or what not, but I really do have a ton of people at my locals that have a hard time getting their hands on older cards or even some of the new OP05 cards because of the lack of product available. Buying singles is the best option at the moment, but some of the singles are outrageous :( I really would love to see a large reprinting of Sets 1-5
Value will stay the same 🤣 prices are super inflated and it would bring them down for the first few weeks of being reprinted and then it would become as high as previously and continue to climb lol. It just alleviates the stress of normal cards like SRs. Those cards shouldn't cost more than $10
Big L take. Your cards would still remain super valuable. As the players grow for the game the value grows. So printing more won't effect the price as much because the supply and demand would continue to be very high. Getting more product into new players hands will only help the community in multiple ways.
Why do you wanna remedy the situation of not being able to own every card or art of a card? Nobody is entitled to having all those cards, bandai doesnt need to permaprint old sets, just reprint the cards that are needed to build decks cheap, but let collectors have valuable cards and boxcollectors have valuable boxes Thats why there are alternate arts and manga rares in this game
Secret rare is one thing in my opinion. That's not an easy pull. I wouldn't be surprised if many people didn't have playsets. But normal rares or super rares? That's a bit of a stretch. More product wouldnt effect the big cards. So our manga rares would still be very worth while and profitable. It's a win win for everyone
I totally agree on normal rares and super rares, hell even somehow on secret rares if that card is the only available option The game should not be that expensive to play, so cards like Katakuri have to be reprinted in my opinion. With diffrent art and if they have to make it lower rarity, its for the sake of gaming. They alrdy reprinted luffy and nami plenty of times so why not do it with cards that are needed to play the game. I feel lile it would be the best option, no need to print sets as much as disney does, collectors will lose interest and they are part pf the tcg, thats also what bandai intended when putting in AA and mangas
Reprinting into oblivion is not the answer. There is a large part of the community that buys the cards 100% to collect. No desire to play. Killing their collection would run them off. And to be fair outside of Katakuri nothing is really that expensive. Asking someone to have to buy a playset of $30-40 cards isn’t to much to ask. Now we could do selective reprints. Target certain cards. Slip them in prize packs. You could do a 10-15 card collection for $30-50 and include a great eruption, maybe a barsalino, and other jank. By sloping in 2-3 cards at a time you could stem the increase win prices in a healthy way.
Yeah that's what I was getting at with the tournament pack participation prizing as far as singles are concerned. But if you don't mind me asking, (as far as the collectors that would leave) why would they leave if more was printed? They would have cheaper availability to obtain cards for their collection?
@TheLuffyTCG when I here reprints it’s like get your game up and protect the value of the game. Common leaders turned me off at first to the game . I get it allows playability for early players but also deters you from buying the good stuff when you can win n get it free
The way to fix this is discarding this fake crappy copy of Pokemon cards. One piece is garbage. Pre orders / sample cards more like give me your money so I can afford to print the cards 😂. Trash ready cards
The prices are making me not want to play anymore because thinking about trying to get playsets for some of the OP-6 cards is going to be more expensive than a box. Gecko Moria & Nami are pretty much going to be around $20-30 minimum w/ how low production is I have zero trade value. I want to support the game but I can’t support this type of market.
Totally fair. I hope to see SRs at a decent price like OP05 in the new set but we'll have to wait and see. SRs and lower should never be hitting over $20. That's just wild honestly haha
my only way around is simple....pre-order whatever you want to get as soon as its possible, save money and the headache
Absolutely, prices are ridiculous. I’ve been collecting since OP01. Most likely will be taking a break for a while.
For reprints I wouldn't mind if they were labeled as 2nd edition as so the originals maintain value for collectors while giving new players access.
Agreed. Like a notable stamp or difference in the card could alleviate everyone's issues
They can also add “reprint packs” to the double packs. Instead of flooding us with new Don cards, they can add some of these staple card to those products to help get the cards in players hands
Would love to see it!
We got like 7 different reprints of 5c rush Luffy 😂💀
Exactly!! It's wild haha. No more please 🤣
Dude for real
Agreed need more reprints so prices come down for budgeted and new players. Scalpers ruining the market too
Price gouging definitely isn't helping. I'm glad I bought before it came out, but even preorders are getting ridiculous at this point
Stores literally are selling 200%+ msrp.... blame scalpers lol
Never gonna happen
I think some of the distributors are based here aren't they? I could be wrong. I know there's quite a few in the EU at least
I dont think you know what you talking about tbh. @TheLuffyTCG
That'd be great. We'll wait and see but I hope that's the idea with the tournament packs
Tins… tins were so cool for other tcgs. Imagine a tin with a sweet looking textured foiled out Queen.
Love this idea
Yeah that'd be cool! We do have the double packs and the collection boxes so there's many ways to make this work in the future :)
digimon solved this issue by reprinting starter deck cards as tournament/event promos. And they did it more than just once
Yeah I'd like to see that in the future of this game. Through tournament packs or through included packs in future booster boxes
Yeah not being matched with the eastern releases is causing too much market speculation and it influences a lot
😂😂😂😂
Legendary comment haha
hard agree. i'm glad i bought most starterdecks in 2's around the time they came out (at least the relevant ones). but if you'd wanna get into the game now and get every (or even some)starterdecks in 2's you'd have to dig DEEP in your bankaccount, which should never be the case for a STARTERdeck. i like what they did with the 3 captains set, adding some old revelevant cards into the mix, but at the same time it was a pretty expensive set...
Yeah lucky I got everything when it came out or on preorder. Very tough to get those prices now
This is always the way. Has been since yugioh decades ago
Im glad my box romance dawn box is a blue bottom box if they do a reprint
Same :) I collected one and saved it from blue bottom period too
Sorry to say but I’m glad I gave this game up for Lorcana. The market is more outrageous than it was when the game first came out and they’re really getting out of hand with the alt arts. I’m so glad Lorcana will never have a card as a promo that won’t also be in booster packs.
I don't blame you but hope to see you back at some point! I am optimistic for the future but want to see some changes
Ect.)
I think if they went that route, it would be a new game type or something like buddy battle. But idk. That could be interesting in the future
Adopt the same strategy as the official stores. Make local stores sell at msrp and require them to cut the plastic at time of purchase most of the stock product is groups of people buys mass amount and sitting on them
That'd be perfect but I doubt that would ever happen. We can hope though :)
I think if they made the hit rates so alt arts/ SRs and secret rares are more per box that would help the more there out there the better that way it would have more of that stock out there at a more affordable price. It worked for pokemon
Interesting I didn't think about that. But I understand that they wanted to keep them as a certain rarity chance.
@@TheLuffyTCG like we get what around 7-8 SRs per box make it around 12 and 1 sec and 3 alts per box that would help get the card out there and there would be a lot out there so buying singles wouldn't be crazy
@@yosanto1317 that's fair, I think 3 alts per box might be a little much but the lower rarity cards I like the idea.
I believe they'll correct it in the future. Just hoped it would have been done sooner
I say they do what Pokemon did in the beginning. With the 2nd edition. Print 1-5 again. And put a small 2 on the corner. Boom problem solved
Easy solution for sure!
Shit, I've been playing since launch and it's been so hard to build the decks I want because of the cost of boxes for the first 3 sets and getting singles has been a joke.
Yeah I'm optimistic for some relief to everyone's wallets in the future. I'd just like to see it happen sooner than later
Since 60% of the double packs is literall useless cardboard, they could introduce in the future an extra pack with previous staples, like a pack containing at least 3-4 staples..
Agreed! Get rid of the cardboard divider and throw in some goodies! Would love to see that
My double packs have not been good either, but I'd still try one at retail if I could find it.
"Heard from some digimon friends"
Me: your friends with digimon!?!
Lmao 🤣 now that's perfect haha. Your mind works in the perfect way
Would be cool if they did something like WotC did with Pokemon way back in the day (I'm old) when they came out with a Base Set 2 and then later Legendary Collection which was basically just a reprint of cards from the first 3 sets but with a different symbol.
Yeah that'd be an easy solution honestly. I'm optimistic but we'll see I guess
Imo on the shop owner side you can’t get half of a small allocation but streamers have literally 150+ cases to break on TikTok etc at 2-3x msrp
Yeah what the hell is the deal with that? Ive seen so many whatnot streams doing that. How do they get allocated so much!? It's crazy
if it wasnt short notice, a big group of players should wear shirts that ask for reprints of cards to nats lol
LOL this would have been amazing..
LMFAO that'd be perfect! I totally would have
I do think we need to just gove a little time for some of it, with the tournament pack suggestions i do think that is the correct way to go about kt however i think they kind of already are reprinting staples, but they are staples for what was meta a few months prior, queen has only just become meta relavant really this set so if it were to come in a tournament pack in a few sets time
That's fair, however queen has been a card throughout the whole game now. Every purple deck in the game has used that card so far. It's a bit surprising that they didn't have that included in a TP over other cards that have 6 different arts out in the game
How was the solution from Bandai for Digimon and Dragonball ? Did they reprint complete sets or did they print old cards with new artworks?
for digimon in the past they did infact re stock all the booster uptill BT 06 so more product can be bought that because we complain
I heard their earlier sets were reprinted at one point in mass, but I didn't play the game so I can't give a truthful answer on that
Soooo they just need to allow proxies? Or print non holo rares?
Non Holo cards in tournament packs seems like the best idea :) or additions to gift sets or stuff like that.
@@TheLuffyTCG yea non holos makes sense pokemon made some like this and it worked
Oh definitely never reprint the same AA into packs, I just mean base rarity or even different art with no holo on a tournament pack card.
A good video to watch again in a year
We'll see in a year if it's looking a bit better :)
If OP06 is as scarce as OP05 has been I think I’m just going to liquidate most of my stuff, I’ll keep some stuff to play but at the most casual of levels
Yeah getting rid of alt arts might be the play honestly. It's a good time to do so
@@TheLuffyTCG I’ve basically used every alt art I’ve gotten as trade bait for stuff from older sets lol I think I managed to trade a Wanted Poster Luffy I got for a Kat and Kuzan lol
I like all your ideas! I had to tell my friend who wanted to get into the game to either borrow a deck or play a budget deck for now till Bandai fixes something. But that sucks having to be his options.
Yeah I'd like for everyone to be able to get their hands on any necessary cards. Fingers crossed we see some solutions in the near future
Yeah staples in tournament packs would go a long way. We already have a few but some of the pricier ones would help a ton
I feel like I was able to find a good amount of OP04 but I got a box of OP05, and boosters on release day and that’s been it. I just had to trade 3 alt arts for a katakuri. The market is the most frustrating part of this game hands down
Yeah I can agree. It becomes challenging to get product anywhere honestly
My lcs doesn’t even have tournament packs left t.t
Yeah it's limited to English only per the rules. But if you used one at locals I'm sure that no one would bat an eye.
Dayum i got my starter deck Kaido for $15 in my LGS 1 month after the game debut
Same! I think I might have even got it for $12 if I'm being honest
What u think about box toppers
I loved them! Would love to see them make a come back :)
I have opened a few boxes of Op02, but still only have 1 borsalino 4 cost, now theyre getting up there, not as bad as sec katakuri, but its a super rare. $50 for one is ridiculous. I also only have one katakuri, and its the alt, so i won't be using that haha.
Yeah that's wild. I'd sell it if I had an AA personally.
@@TheLuffyTCG I’ve definitely been considering it 😂 but the artwork is so clean
I wish there was a 50-50 or 80-20 split of being able to use japanese and english cards.
Yeah it would be pretty cool to see honestly:) I like that MTG does something similar to that
Ok I have to say as someone who played against a friend with Japanese card it was annoying as heck I could not read his cards he was even annoyed when he played
Also sorry if I came off as rude was not trying to ❤
Seems to be a bandai thing, DBS Masters had the same problem, around the time Draft Box 4 released, eventually supply became available
Digimon had the same problem at first now supply is everywhere & readily available
I’m sure one piece will follow this pattern as well
Hope so! That sounds like it would alleviate a lot of issues for people :)
They should reprint everything with the stamp on op05 on them. Keeps everyone happy
Yeah a reprint with a notable symbol or difference to the card would do the trick easily. A win for everyone
What's mind boggling is how expensive Op-06 preorders are. Seeing Manga Luffy, Zoro will be $2k easy
Yeah that's what I mean, preorders shouldn't be that high at all. Kinda crazy honestly
Oh yeah bro, apparently set 6 has a smaller print run than set 5 so that zoro is hitting 3k EASY
@@Xros808 I've seen rumours of that but I don't know if it's true. I couldnt imagine they'd short print a set after the sales they've had
My idea was doing “themed” event packs of like “Top Played Blockers”, “Top Played Rush Cards” or “Top Played Events”. That or adding really playable cards as the SP rarity in new sets. That or just come out with those beginner decks that they hand out having more high use cards. You reprint pack idea is also good 👍
Love the idea! Very cool and provides interest for people needing certain niche cards!
Good luck with that
@@kazanyemmi it worked with Chronicles. Then WOTC made a terrible mistake.
Wow I didn't know about the discord practice. That's crazy. I figured it was just hype that was causing buyouts for some things
Eventpack like OTS Pack in Yugioh would be very nice👌🏻🤷🏻♂️
Agreed! It would be a great solution
What I dislike most about this game is the artificially limited stock. I could not enter into any prerelease events since the game first launched because spots would be booked out almost immediately. I never got into it because I literally cannot even get any starter decks because everything is sold out. It has only gotten worse.
Yeah interest in the game is insane so getting into events is super hard. I gotta plan out whole days just to register for stuff lol
I essentially only play on the sim atp, because these prices are just insane
Yeah they're pretty wild. Buying singles isn't too bad but getting sealed product is wild haha
If bandai wants to make more money they can go the route of magic and do reprints of older cards and do different formats like standard, limited, modern, etc.
100% that would be something I'd hope they would do in the future
Oooo that'd be nice. Yeah other tcgs got it figured out so we'll see in time. I'd love for some progress in that regard.
I like the distribution the way it is. Makes my collection worth more $$$$$ =]
My collection is worth more also but if we have more people playing and less people leaving because of prices, then the longevity of the game would make our early cards worth even more! Gotta think about the long game my friend
hope we get an official online version of this game
That would be awesome!
The fact that freaking starter decks are out of stock and scalped is a scathing indictment of how mismanaged this TCG is. Like sheesh.
Yeah there's no reason starters should be costing that much. It's actually insane
I don't think it's jealousy, but when you see some "content creator" opening thousand of boxes, it's really frustrating
I've seen those. It's pretty frustrating. This was the one time I got a case and I'll never be able to afford one again lol
100% Agree, they should reprint staples for torunament kits!
Yeah I think it'd be a great way to get cards in players hands :)
They literally already are... hearing this as a new idea is insulting lol😊
Leaving another generic comment for ya, going to do it on other videos till I get caught up. Appreciate you my dude!
Why would you use japanese cards that nobody can read? that doesn’t even make sense
The thought is that people understand what the card action does. So if you don't have the actual card you could still play
I hate this scalper market for shit. There shouldn’t be a secondary market for unopened product. Bandai shouldn’t allow this.
Yeah it's tough honestly. I don't think Bandai can do much about it, but the game has a lot of promise. Future sets should have this issue alleviated
Or use the ban/restriction list
Agreed we have so many of each of those 🤣
As a new player, I feel like this card game will die out.
@@TheLuffyTCG thanks man! I hope so.
Proxies are cool unless you had to pay to play and there’s prizing. If that’s the case, nah I’d DQ a person
For sure, if its a big event with prizing totally understandable. At locals though for 3 packs, nah you can play with a drawing for all I care 🤣
This game is completely unplayable at a competitive lvl if you weren't there at the start
It's playable but you gotta drop a paycheck to get some of the cards if you didnt get in from the beginning
there is enough supply , just distributed through the wrong hands. pls dont let bandai kill this tcg like digimon or another example Lorecana :D
Agreed let's see some one piece mass printing! And congrats on the uta games! I'm looking forward to some of the ones I got into also :)
You can't blame them for the pandemic. There wasn't enough printers
Yeah I know they've had their own issues but it'd at least be a cheaper alternative for some players haha
I couldn't afford one piece so I've settled down with digimon
Yeah that's fair. There are some cheap decks that you can get though.
It’s going to surpass Pokémon and magic the prices are just going to keep going up
I could see that.
Cool Video 📹
Appreciate it my friend
It’s too late. The launch was a disaster and this game will never be mainstream
How do you figure? Demand and player base is already massive and the show is getting more popular. It's almost like they're trying to make it fail but can't
Hmm interesting. It seems to be thriving. Just not enough product to supply newer players
@ericsilvestrin1662 demand is high right now, but if supply doesn't meet it, then people will leave in frustration.
@@matttran7161 over time, I agree. But right now, there's no signs of it slowing down
@ericsilvestrin1662 yeah I want to be wrong. It's so frustrating because Pokemon already solved for this. Can you imagine how cool a OP Trainers Toolkit would be? Like nonfoil staples, a handful of packs, and a nifty promo.
I was with you til you said "Japanese cards"
Hahaha it's just an option :) anything to alleviate some financial pressure new players might feel
yeah "new players". i hope bandai does 15th print waves of OP05
No thanks
I know you're hinting at scalpers looking for more to resell or horde or what not, but I really do have a ton of people at my locals that have a hard time getting their hands on older cards or even some of the new OP05 cards because of the lack of product available. Buying singles is the best option at the moment, but some of the singles are outrageous :( I really would love to see a large reprinting of Sets 1-5
@@Amaru2000 hello "new player"
They reprint everything, value will disappear and so will the interest
Everyone is wanting in because it’s valuable
Value will stay the same 🤣 prices are super inflated and it would bring them down for the first few weeks of being reprinted and then it would become as high as previously and continue to climb lol. It just alleviates the stress of normal cards like SRs. Those cards shouldn't cost more than $10
Scalpers are so dumb smh
ty bandai fro keeping supplies low too many reprints crush the market prices and cards are worth nothing.
Nobody is entitled to having all those cards, bandai doesnt need to permaprint old sets, just reprint the cards that are needed to build decks cheap, but let collectors have valuable cards and boxcollectors have valuable boxes
Thats why there are alternate arts and manga rares in this game
Secret rare is one thing in my opinion. That's not an easy pull. I wouldn't be surprised if many people didn't have playsets. But normal rares or super rares? That's a bit of a stretch. More product wouldnt effect the big cards. So our manga rares would still be very worth while and profitable. It's a win win for everyone
I totally agree on normal rares and super rares, hell even somehow on secret rares if that card is the only available option
The game should not be that expensive to play, so cards like Katakuri have to be reprinted in my opinion.
@@OgIsonn ok that's fair, that was basically my point with the idea of the tournament pack reprints.
I'm not sure if I understand what you mean
hopefully the supply issue kills this god awful garbage heap of a cashgrab tcg if you can even call it a tcg lmfao
Damn bro who hurt you 🤣
Man i thought pokemon youtubers were crybabies but this takes the cake
Interesting, you don't want players to be able to play the game. That's a take I wasnt expecting 🤣
