This is one where you have to listen over and over. And over.
Two days ago Johnny Dear from the Western AF channel showed up on my TH-cam feed. I've listened to Dear Dead Days 5 times since, and have watched a bunch of Kassi's videos. What wonderful songwriting, what an incredible voice, lights-out backing musicians. Chino may be my favorite song, but wow, all of her songs are amazing.
I found this last summer when I was caring for my mom through end of life. So many hard days were made a little better and I'm so thankful. I couldn't listen anymore after she passed in August, just too much emotion. But I'm dealing, and listening to this is good for my spirit now.
Adding Kassi to the list of musicians I want to see perform live...once we get this pandemic under control.

Love her voice and use of intonation! Mixture of emotions, imagery and word play...... Been on high rotation since they uploaded, will be buying CD for sure.
I can’t recall the last time I reacted like I did when I first heard this song. I could just feel the endorphins being released.
Overall this is wonderful song and performance. I love the two "I'm okay..." lines in the song. The first "I'm okay" made me think of strength, as if Kassi really is doing fine. The second time she sings it, I think, "I don't think she's as 'okay' as she says she is." A Mona Lisa smile. So beautiful! This is just one of the subtle beauties of this song and performance. There's definitely sadness in this song, and yet Kassi is persevering. It's a really cool "story of my life song." Great job. I hope for you the best Kassi and your crew of cool cats. You picked some great guys. The sound you have put together is awesome.
