I always thought 1d got very lucky ending up with Michael McIntyre as the other guest on this one. He seemed to know exactly where to jump in when tension started to build, especially with the Zayn question. You can sense the relief from the band at certain points where he took the attention off of them.

The official reason for Zayn's leaving was his mental health and I'm sure it was in some ways but just recently Zayn said in the interview that he left the band because he selfishly wanted to be the first to leave and make his own record. He saw - like he said - "certain people were doing certain things, certain people didn't want to sign contracts". So he knew the band was done at this point.

Comedian Michael McIntyre added a lot of lightness and humor to this interview and made it much more enjoyable for Harry, especially. The Jonathan Ross Show actually began with a segment between Jonathan and Michael discussing Zayne (there are signs everywhere saying 'don't mention Zayne'). It was nice that Liam was so relaxed and talkative in this interview. I loved the way Harry felt he could turn to Michael to take the pressure of dealing with the issue of Zayne and other intrusive questions.

Zayn left in the middle of the Tour for Album Four. The remaining four of them finished the tour they were doing for Four. It was a Long Tour. Zayn left when they had done only one Leg of America at that Time. After Zayn they Finished the Tour and Recorded their Last Album Made in the A.M and went on the Break. They didn't Tour Made In The A.M 😞

Pretty sure for a while it was Harry. You can tell by on stage interactions. MITAM was definitely their best album. They didn't tour their last album. They did various shows and sang some of their new songs, such as Apple Music Festival, various talk shows, and the 1D thing with Corden.

In a recent interview, Zayn revealed that while the guys were making/promoting/touring FOUR, a lot of the guys started diverging in terms of their style and then there were talks about not wanting to sign certain contracts. Basically it was becoming evident that the band was going to come to an end and he wanted to get ahead of it and release his music before the others could to avoid competition. I definitely agree that the way he left was a little abrupt but he definitely did what was best for his career. There was always speculations that the break was Harry's idea that the rest of them agreed on and I think he is the one that Zayn was referring to when he said that "some people didn't want to sign contracts" considering that Harry had a separate stylist and management team by late 2014. At the point of when the interview happened, I think Harry was more upset at the fact that he wasn't the first one to leave because it really looks like he in the works of it while Zayn just went for it.

They knew…they performed some of the AM songs live on different TV appearances. Louis was the one who thought they would get back together. He explains in his doco/movie, ‘All of these voices.’ That’s why it took him awhile to kick start his solo.

This was great guys. This is by far my favorite interview with 1D. I’ve always thought Michael McIntyre kind of felt the need to jump in with the jokes to take the pressure off the boys when he saw fit and he did an excellent job of it. He’s hilarious anyway! Thanks so much for doing this. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Harry was the closest to Zayn in the band, so the distance hurt more for both of them (including, knowing that Zayn was tired of some situations in the band, they say that Harry intended to leave with him, and everyone knows that by 2014 Harry asked the band for a break, to help Zayn recover, and they finished the tour together and then finally the two of them left, but the others didn't agree with the break! so Zayn couldn't take it and left early)

Harry had asked for a break in 2014, they decided no (either convinced him not a good idea, or said one more album). Then Zayn suddenly left during the tour of Four.

the made in the am album , the last one they made is the best one, great songs, plus they all wrote lyrics for it; they never toured the album which is sad af but yeah, this album is amazing, it really couldve won a grammy. you guys should listen to it.

The second half of that tour when Zayn left was a lot more high energy and there was like a rejuvenation of the band - they were a bit closed down and going through the motions before. They said in some interviews themselves that having to come together to make the tour work without him only made them better. So it's too bad they didn't tour the last album, but understandable with having gone non-stop for five years!

In recent years, especially the early years after the band broke up, most people believed that the band broke up because zayn left! But we now know that the story was exactly the opposite, zayn left because he realized that band was coming to an end! In fact, in all these years, the person who received hatred from the public for being selfish and disrupting the group was zayn! While he was not the one who had this intention! That person was another member of the band who had planned this for a long time! It always saddens me that zayn received hate and his public image was ruined when he didn't deserve it! (In fact, none of them deserve to be hated for this reason because they are human beings with the right to make their own decisions!)
