I honestly loved the Electric series, I was a kid when it happened and I hadn't read any leading up to his transformation. But I got the first issue he turned and I collected every issue after that until they changed him back.

Ditto. To me, its just a chapter in his life that happened. Just like dating Wonder Woman. It happened, but it only lasted a couple months, which is only a blink in someone's lifetime. Superman will always go back to the status quo. So im still hoping that all the Bendis changes will go away soon
i've always loved the thought that everyone in smallville knows clark's identity because he's naturally a terrible liar but they keep it hush cause they're all good-hearted folk. pretty sure i garnered that little piece of headcanon from watching this channel lol
Same. I feel like it's an open secret to the people of Smallville. And I think that theyve know him long enough to know what he looks like without glasses lol and they never say anything because they all know that Clark's a good kid.
*DC:* "Oh, readers! Readers! Look what we've got!" *Readers:* "Could it be? Me Superman? Whoo-hoo!" *DC dancing for joy* "Whoo-hooo! Woooo- Wait a minute...This isn't me Superman! This is a lame Superman that's been crumpled up, torn slightly, written out of character, and colored in with Coral Blue Number 2 Semi-Gloss Lipstick!"
@@ItsComicG That’s so goddamn funny. I can’t imagine how confused people would be reading it monthly back then. Just “cool, that was an awesome story. I can’t wait to read this next issue of- Who the hell is that blue guy with the Superman logo? IS THAT SUPERMAN!? WHAT HAPPENED!? Did I miss an issue?”
Regarding the discussion about Superman/Clark that starts at about 11:00 I always go back to my favorite exchange from the _Lois and Clark_ show from the 90's. It got a lot of things wrong, but they got the Superman/Clark Kent thing right. When Lois is confronting Clak and saying he shouldn't be mad she loved Superman but not him, his response is: "Superman is what I can do, Clark Kent is who I am."
I mean that’s also not entirely true, although I love the sentiment. Because it’s been established that Clark Kent (at least at the Planet) intentionally slouches and puts on a facade to hide the Superman identity. He’s not secretly a bumbling nerd. He’s secretly Superman.
Saaaame. This is yet another one of those weird synchronicities for me since I just got into a bit of a Transformers groove thanks to the Netflix show.
The beauty of Clark Kent is closely related to the thing that makes Superman special as a character. It's virtuous that a strong man would choose to appear weak, that it's more important for him to be able to be around everyone than to show them how tough he is.
Energy being contained in a blue suit who can control energy, interface with tech, teleport and absorbed radiation... Aw yes one of those times someone had a pitch for a story about a different character then realized it would sell more if they did it with Superman instead. Super Friends' Narrator voice: "Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice Captain Atom sobs in a broom closet"
I remember hearing something that the reason DC they did this because either the Siegel or Schuster family sued again and because Superman was defined wearing the blue suit with the red cape and having whatever powers, so DC changed all those characteristics to not have to pay the family.
But the real question is: When Superman turned blue did his teeth magically become even more perfect by the power of electricity? No? That would be incredibly stupid? Yeah you're right. Idk how anyone could come up with something so silly.
Man I clicked fast. I collected all superman titles when this was being printed. Basically spent all my money on it. I had the glow in the dark cover with new superman emblem... unfortunately gave away all my comics years ago but I still think about these sometimes. Excited to see how this story holds ❤
59:03 I think it makes most sense to give all the villains with the same powers (or more importantly, the same weaknesses) their own prison. That way everything about the facility can be designed to keep them at bay, and the guards could all be trained in how to handle the inmates without having to memorize each one's intricacies.
Around 6:00: that is in fact what the machine was meant for. Superman hoped to stimulate him brain into achieving solutions that he could not conceive previously. And it worked; it just happened to split him into two identical people as well (and to destroy the machine itself).
Originally the career as a reporter was so he could be where the information is as it happens, but as his powers evolved and grew really he did not need it but for big events occuring that he may miss while actively filter out things. Now he just loves being a journalist like Lois loves it.

1:17:14 I love Ethan’s face as Sal is explaining what the suit does, it’s as if he’s trying to make sense of everything weird about the blue suit lol 😂
I know the story itself isn't very good, but I absolutely love electric blue Superman. I've always dug the costume and some of the powers are kind of neat. glad it didn't stay that way for too long though.
I realize how bad electric blue superman is from a story standpoint, but I just love the costume so much I wish they would revamp it for a Static Shock costume, you'd even be able to keep the big S on the chest
I love have a soft spot for Superman Blue. My dad was getting comics around this time, and I remember the design fondly. By the intro, I can't imagine its was a good story lol
I just wanted to say I just got back into reading comics from when I was a kid about 3 months ago and these videos really help me not sound like an idiot talking about comics thanks guys love the videos
The first issue of Electric Blue Superman is when I started collecting comics. I read (and I think own) every issue from that era (and Red/Blue and the return to normal stuff until just after Our Worlds at War). I feel like I don't owe DC anything after that, lol.
When they got to the part where Superman can tap into computer systems now, I just audibly went "Oh nooo" out of embarrassment for poor old Supes. P.S. Ben was on fire. 😂👍
Fuck the superman telescoping porn bit & "EWWWW I saw Kel's pubic bone!" Killed me. I actually like the blue suit design. It could have been great for another 90stastic character if you actually give them personality. But for Superman? Nah...
Great Back Issues as always Sal read'ed Electric Blue Superman back in the day not my favorite run of Superman had some good moments but poorly told. This is the period sadly started to get out of Superman Comics until Smallville and the early 2000s run of Superman comics came out.
I love this suit a lot, honestly. Not totally suited for Superman, but if this was some other character or a Superman spin off character it would be so perfect.
The story is really stupid but I always loved the design of Superman Blue. The interesting part for me was the idea that can the worlds greatest superhero still be the worlds greatest superhero with different powers. Does the powers make him super or is it the person behind the powers. And yes Sal, I saw the different coloured shirt at the end.
I've been waiting for this to be done on the channel! I remember picking a comic in the 90s when I was a kid with an electric red and blue Superman on it when at the grocery store and even then was like "well that's weird."
All I remember about that time was that towards the end (I think) they had some event story where the red and blue Superman was part of some ancient Mayan prophecy or something involving huge Mayan gods or something… it’s really fuzzy for me cause well… it wasn’t really that memorable to me.
I'd just like to add at the time when electric blue superman was around one book was writing him well. As in "This is Job for Superman" that nobody else could do wasn't a superman book it was JLA. The guy ended up Magnetising the FRICKKING MOON in one story for crying out loud.

Dan Jurgens: *a single tear rolls down his cheek*
I love that he took the book from Sal to see who wrote it so he could make that joke
FUN FACT: that is what happened when they told him that Bendis was coming
I can't get over the idea of Perry White seeing Clark Kent shirtless and losing it:
_"Jesus_ *CHRIST,* _Clark! You're a GOD!"_
“I kno they blue it” i can confidently say i am part of the 0.3 percent that loves these moments
WE ARE THE 0.3%!!!
I'd say it higher than .3%

My first encounter with blue Superman was JLA by Grant Morrison.
It's unbelievable how well he made that crappy version of Superman work.
Its so funny how random it is if you only read that book. He goes from normal to blue for no reason in between issues and nobody mentions it at all.
@@ItsComicG Exactly immediately after the first arc that the team forms he just randomly appears. 😂
