I honestly loved the Electric series, I was a kid when it happened and I hadn't read any leading up to his transformation. But I got the first issue he turned and I collected every issue after that until they changed him back.

Ditto. To me, its just a chapter in his life that happened. Just like dating Wonder Woman. It happened, but it only lasted a couple months, which is only a blink in someone's lifetime. Superman will always go back to the status quo. So im still hoping that all the Bendis changes will go away soon
My first encounter with blue Superman was JLA by Grant Morrison.
It's unbelievable how well he made that crappy version of Superman work.
Its so funny how random it is if you only read that book. He goes from normal to blue for no reason in between issues and nobody mentions it at all.

i've always loved the thought that everyone in smallville knows clark's identity because he's naturally a terrible liar but they keep it hush cause they're all good-hearted folk.

Regarding the discussion about Superman/Clark that starts at about 11:00 I always go back to my favorite exchange from the _Lois and Clark_ show from the 90's. It got a lot of things wrong, but they got the Superman/Clark Kent thing right. When Lois is confronting Clak and saying he shouldn't be mad she loved Superman but not him, his response is: "Superman is what I can do, Clark Kent is who I am."

The beauty of Clark Kent is closely related to the thing that makes Superman special as a character. It's virtuous that a strong man would choose to appear weak, that it's more important for him to be able to be around everyone than to show them how tough he is.

Saaaame. This is yet another one of those weird synchronicities for me since I just got into a bit of a Transformers groove thanks to the Netflix show.
I remember hearing something that the reason DC they did this because either the Siegel or Schuster family sued again and because Superman was defined wearing the blue suit with the red cape and having whatever powers, so DC changed all those characteristics to not have to pay the family.
No idea if it's true, but I wouldn't be surprised

I think it makes most sense to give all the villains with the same powers (or more importantly, the same weaknesses) their own prison. That way everything about the facility can be designed to keep them at bay, and the guards could all be trained in how to handle the inmates without having to memorize each one's intricacies.
Originally the career as a reporter was so he could be where the information is as it happens, but as his powers evolved and grew really he did not need it but for big events occuring that he may miss while actively filter out things. Now he just loves being a journalist like Lois loves it.

I collected all superman titles when this was being printed. Basically spent all my money on it. I had the glow in the dark cover with new superman emblem... unfortunately gave away all my comics years ago but I still think about these sometimes. Excited to see how this story holds ❤
I still have mine issues, Blue was so crazy strong and cool back then.
I realize how bad electric blue superman is from a story standpoint, but I just love the costume so much I wish they would revamp it for a Static Shock costume, you'd even be able to keep the big S on the chest

I know the story itself isn't very good, but I absolutely love electric blue Superman. I've always dug the costume and some of the powers are kind of neat. glad it didn't stay that way for too long though.

Oh man am I excited for this! One of my favorite aspects of JLA by Morrison was his (reluctant) usage of Blue Superman in his run. Truly an underrated design I always like to see.

They used four different kinds of kryptonite in the 60's comic. Red, blue, green, and gold. All the "known" colors of kryptonite (at the time).
The story is really stupid but I always loved the design of Superman Blue. The interesting part for me was the idea that can the worlds greatest superhero still be the worlds greatest superhero with different powers. Does the powers make him super or is it the person behind the powers.
And yes Sal, I saw the different coloured shirt at the end.

All I remember about that time was that towards the end (I think) they had some event story where the red and blue Superman was part of some ancient Mayan prophecy or something involving huge Mayan gods or something… it’s really fuzzy for me cause well… it wasn’t really that memorable to me.

I'd just like to add at the time when electric blue superman was around one book was writing him well.
As in "This is Job for Superman" that nobody else could do wasn't a superman book it was JLA.
The guy ended up Magnetising the FRICKKING MOON in one story for crying out loud.

I had a subscription to Superman during this time.
That joke was so bad, Sal's shirt color changed in preparation for it.
So, I've had a theory of the real reason DC gave him the new powers, Superman at the time was getting close to entering the public domain and by changing both his powers and design they would be able to copyright this version of Superman, but then Disney lobbied and had copyright extended to 95 years making to whole thing pointless.
I doubt DC will ever admit that but if look it up, they go back to his old powers not to long after the copyright extension act was passed.

it's like watching a bunch of kids who just ate a box of dark chocolate bar, a tub ice cream, and chocolate cakes. so hyper, especially the one in the middle. (ha ha ha!!) anyhow, i have all the issues of the series and both Superman Red and Superman Blue action figures by Ed McGuinness. I love the electric costume design plus the glow in the dark cover.
