@@TheReturnersHideout Yeah, I was on the Gogo = Daryl bandwagon for a long time. I guess it comes from fans in the West not having gotten FFV until much, much later to make the connection.
FFVI's Gogo looks human. FFV's Famed Mimic Gogo is a kind of goblin/cat creature with very long ears. My headcanon is that FFVI Gogo heard/read about Famed Mimic Gogo as some sort of legend (FFV may be fiction in FFVI's universe), and took his name and a similar colorful costume in an attempt to emulate him. Imitating others is his thing after all.
Gogo is found inside "Zone Eater", and he probably ended up there after it took a bite of a FF5 dimension. FF5 Gilgamesh travels the dimensions too, as is implied in FF8 during the scene where Odin is counter-zantetsuken'd by Seifer. Edit: Gogo literally hops into a new dimension when you beat him in FF5.
I think it was confirmed that Vics and Wedge in Chrono Trigger are the same Vics and Wedge who were with Terra. The only counter evidence is that GoGo in FF5 is a jerk. The GoGo in FF6 isn't. So who knows
Gogo is not Relm's mother. Gogo is a interdimensional being who you first meet in Final Fantasy 5. He was able to travel from the world of FF5 into the world of FF6 by being swallowed by Exdeath's Void and finding himself inside the space-time defying stomach of the Zone Eater which is where you find him in FF6. This is isn't really a mystery for those who have played 5 and 6, especially back to back (which I did again when the Pixel Remaster series came out, and it became quite obvious to me). If there's any theory I wish worked, its that Kefka was Baram, and Shadow repeatedly risked it all to put an end to what he inadvertently created by abandoning Baram to the empire after robbing Ghestal.
Gogo can be anyone because he's a mimic, he could be Banon, Baram, Daryll, Emperor Gestahl, or General Leo. There's also a theory that's floating around that the Empire found the mortally wounded Baram and experimented on him so after that he took the name of Kefka.
And when Kefka was pinned between the statues and the world ripped apart, he was also ripped in two. Gogo's sprite uses the same robe look and color as Kefka's, and thats why Gogo has to remain behind in the collapsing tower at the end, otherwise Kefka will never truly die. Gogo is both Baram and Kefka, because Baram is Kefka!
Gogo is a hidden boss in FF5, beating him gives you the Mimic job. After you beat him he hops into the Interdimensional Rift. That's how he got into FF6's world.
Now that I'm all caught up on the videos, I wish it was last night, when I stumbled across this channel having seen none of it, and could do it over again. Looking forward to the next one.
I have a theory and... it may not be far off... but the two ghosts you can recruit? I think they may be Biggs and Wedge. The concept is kind of mind blowing lol.
The Gogo character could be a reference to Gilgamesh from FF5, FF has a tendency to reference characters from past games: especially Mog, Biggs and Wedge, Bahamut, and others. Another big supporting point is FF6 was Yoshinori Kitase's first game as creative director, and he was also the writer behind of Gilgamesh in FF5.
Some of the Amano art depicts Gogo wearing Gilgamesh's kabuki make up forFF6. Both Gilgamesh and Gogo are rift travelers, but separate entities. Your theory crafting makes sense though. But I think this Gogo is a reference to both Gogo and Gilgamesh seeing how the outfit appears to be a combination of both of their styles of dress. The colorful robes of Gogo and the Helm and makeup of Gilgamesh.
Gogo is a native being of the Dimensional Rift. His Desperation attack 'X-Meteo' is a direct reference to being from the X-zone (later retranslated to Dimensional Rift) WHen you defeat him in FFV, he returns to the Dimensional Rift. The Zone-Eater is a native species to the Dimensional Rift, as well, and is How Gogo made it into the FFVI universe. He is not relm's mother, nor is he human. People see that Nomura concept art with an old woman next to Strago, not realizing that was STRAGO's wife, not relm's mother. In FFV he appears after Exdeath opens the dimensional rift, and occupies the Sunken Walse tower.
I agree, but how is the question? For a long time I thought it should get a modern day AAA graphics PS5 generation game upgrade. But after playing several modern day HD 2D voice acted jrpg games I find they have more charm than a lot of the try-hard top notch graphics games. I'm pretty damn sure, despite not being sold on real time action, FF XVI will be phenomenal. But will it have the same charm as the classics? I don't want a FF7Remake that changes what's great about Final Fantasy VI, arguably the best game of the series, aside from maybe IX. Perhaps Octopath Traveler style is the way to go? It can be modernized but keep the beauty of it intact if more devs are concentrating on the important elements of what makes the game special vs how to appeal to graphics whores and purely action fans. Of course, I would play whatever type of remake they decide for Final Fantasy VI. We always have the original. That's the beauty of remakes if you don't like them, but if done, I want it done right.
I’m absolutely stoked about 16, and I haven’t been stoked about a new FF game in a while. So I’m with you on that. In a livestream I too wondered about the specifics of getting a 6 remake. Knowing Square, everything would exist in 3D and that’s fine, but how would fights like Dadaluma happen?
Hell no, all you'd get is a neutered, Nomura-fied version of the story where nothing really bad ever happens, that awful FFVII remake proves that you just need to let the old classics be that.
Dang it Tyreese! Now I’ll have to make a whole new video! Seriously though, thanks for watching and commenting, I’m now going to name Gogo ‘Tyreese’ in all my future play throughs
Gogos just yet another recurring thread that connects final fantasy titles and gives them a comfortable familiarity. Like bahamut, Cid, moogles, chocobos, etc.
You, sir, are the very best kind of looney, and have given me a great deal to think about during my next playthrough of FFVI (I come back to it every couple of years because its just that damned good, and I havent enjoyed a mainline FF game enough to finish it since X). Subscribed; can't wait to see your other videos.
I can still break this game apart even more and find more- that’s the crazy part to me. Once I get through the first 5, I’ll break 6 apart and uncover everything it has to offer!
my gripe with the baram theory is: if baram had an eyepatch on his left eye then why would that one be glowing? instead of his right eye? unless you have some further theory suggesting he keeps his left eye socket covered up for a reason other than having lost that eyeball? like some kind of magic or curse or the like? and why would he cease covering it afterwards? why would gogo's hood cover the Right eye and not the Left? most of the other baram stuff you mentioned seems to add up okay i suppose. but personally i'm more intrigued by the relm's mother theory. i could entirely understand gogo simply keeping their identity hidden but still wanting to be some amount of presence in relm's life now they have the chance to do so, and choosing to not equip a memento ring as that particular aspect of their life is behind them. relm's mother is believed to be dead and therefore no longer married to shadow, so A. she'd have to be both Alive and Get Married Again to wear one if it really is meant to be a wedding ring, and B. even if she were to wear it assuming Strago and/or Shadow understand what that particular ring represents, it would potentially give her away. so i don't think gogo not being able to equip the ring dismisses every other part of that theory outright. though my one remaining question is: if the memento rings ARE supposed to be or at least represent wedding rings, then why are there three of them??? (relms parents throuple confirmed????)
you can run into him still in the South Figaro cave in the room before you would enter the Castle. There is a chest in the northern part of the room where you find Siegfried.
I always thought GoGo may have been the emperor. Like, maybe he didn't actually die and got some sort of power from the statues before Kefka tossed him from the floating continent. He does fall towards a triangle looking shaped island. Then if you find him he joins up in order to atone for his past deeds. 🤔
I enjoy hearing your theories on all the FF games and can't wait to see more in the future. Watching all your videos makes me want to play the FF series from start to finish again.
I enjoyed this discussion, though my personal favorite theory about Baram is that he is actually Kefka. I scoffed at first, but when you consider how Shadow joins Sabin to spy on Kefka at Doma, how he leaves the party in Thamasa (perhaps to spy on Kefka and/or the other group), and how he shows up on the Floating Continent, it's very fun to think about. Shadow's guilty conscience causes him to obsess over Baram's transition after he was captured by the empire and subjected to various experiments. They have Slave Crown technology, so they probably had the ability to wipe Baram's memory and identity. They are also close in age, if you look it up. Anyway, my favorite thing I gained from today's video is that there may likely be a connection between Siegfried and Gogo.
Two things: I love the FuSoYa/Mega Man thing going on here, and secondly I read something about that Kefka/Baram thing but I think for me that biggest hang up was down to timing: at what point was Terra given the slave crown and at what point did Shadow and Baram do their heists? Were those two time periods the same? Relm is 10 so could we use that as a point of reference? Ugh I love these discussions thank you so much!
@@TheReturnersHideout Thanks for complimenting MegaFu! My guess about the heists is that they took place around the time when Terra was taken from her mother, like 15 years prior. That would've made Clyde and Baram about 20 at the time and Terra like 2 or 3, which seems about right. We could assume that Clyde didn't impregnate Relm's mom for the first few years or so. As for the Slave Crown, I like to believe that that was a relatively more recent event for Terra once she started to exhibit signs of strong magical power. Kefka may have even gotten jealous of her magical proficiency and personally taken that initiative.
I love MegaFu! Also, solid points. And to add to it, Kefka wasn’t there when Gestahl invaded the Esper World when Terra was 2, and we all know he would have absolutely gone along for the ride.. super interesting
@@TheReturnersHideout Yeah, my guess is that Gestahl was making a lot of very big and bold moves around that time. Discovering espers, Clyde and Baram planning a heist to get whatever mysterious "treasures" he was hoarding, it all works together so well.
FF Rules - If you all off a cliff, you'll turn up just fine later on as long as you're not shown hitting the ground. Examples: Cid in FF4, Reuben in FF:MQ, *THE ENTIRE PARTY* after the Floating Continent in FF6, Also Ceres trying to off herself by jumping off a cliff in FF6 (yeah, she clearly wasn't being serious about it given cliff-dynamics -_-), Cloud in FF7, Dyne in FF7, Laguna's group in FF8... - The above is ESPECIALLY TRUE if you're mortally injured. - EXCEPTION TO ALL THE ABOVE FOR SOME WEIRD REASON: The Emperor from FF6. I mean... right? >_>
nice vid! like and sub. i remember there was evidence in the game that tells you Daryll is gogo... at least they focus the attencion on that particular way
Hmm. I grew up with the theory that Gogo was actually Rachel. Has that been disproven? Because I always really liked that theory. The idea was that Rachel had been injured so badly as to have become disfigured and left for dead. She dresses in rags to hide her disfigured body, ashamed of what she's become, but content that she can still be with Locke even if he has no idea it's her.
This is interesting, but I’m 99% sure you can take Gogo to go do the Rachel scene after the Phoenix Cave. However, when I go back through FF6, I will confirm! Thank you for this!
@@TheReturnersHideoutAs I recall, though -- and it's been DECADES, so my memory is VERY hazy -- there is no actual body to be found in Rachel's tomb (just a memorial), so even if you are able to take Gogo there, I don't think it disproves the theory. I also have some vague memory of there being an item of sentimental value to Locke that Gogo can also equip? But man, it has been WAY too long, so I've forgotten all the details. I just remember this being a commonly accepted theory back in the late '90s, as there was a lot more evidence to support it than there was evidence contradicting it.
Well the scene I’m referring to actually has Rachel speak with Locke in the basement where her body is kept and preserved (weirdly, by an old man who laughs a lot). I’m wondering if you’re confusing Daryl’s tomb with Rachel’s tomb!
@@TheReturnersHideout Crap! You're right. I'm thinking of Daryl, not Rachel! Told you it's been a long time! ;) Dunno how I mixed those two up, but yes -- to amend my original comment, there was a standing theory way back when that Gogo is Daryl, NOT Rachel. Sorry for the confusion!
Relm's mother, Cyan's wife, and Terra's Mother. Sisters from Thasma? Cyan could've met his wife on an away mission for the king while she was out of town and saved her from bandits operating in the area and had the classic "man saves woman, woman doesn't know what to think of the man, man is honorable and treats her well, woman eventually falls for him" love story. Cyan's sword tech abilities were passed down through the kingdom. Part of my theory for that is that Doma was founded after the war of the Magi from the survivors of the fallen kingdom where Odin was. Over the years it's not as potent as it used to be (which is why it's based on magic and Cyan's magic is crap). Terra's mother could've been an adventurer type that was exploring the mountains on the southern continent where she found more than she bargained for when she found the gate. Unlike the others in Thasma, she couldn't use magic so to try and make something of herself, she left the town of magic and started adventuring. Relm's mother stayed behind in Thasma, married Shadow and had Relm, but was murdered....by Baram. Baram couldn't stand her being with Shadow and killed her. By the time Shadow discovered the true identity of the killer (much later), he "killed his emotions" to assassinate his former friend and just worked as an assassin after that. He didn't want Relm to get involved and have a chance of having a normal life so he left her with Strago and left. The third momento ring was for Shadow's wife. Her soul was crushed by Baram's betrayal and how it drove Shadow and Relm apart. She wanted them to be together so that at least Relm would grow up with one of her parents, but this didn't happen. When Shadow killed off his emotions her husband was no more and Relm was alone in the world after that. At least that's my head canon as to why the three of them look alike. The one in Zozo is just a look alike from the back and would have a very different face if we saw it. The clothes are just a common travelers/town worker garb. Gogo, in my mind is just a nomad that occasionally visits society as a traveling performer with those dudes from the cave as their stage hands. Their clothing and their assistants' clothing in the cave as well as the music in the cave all make me think of traveling performers. Traveling performers take on a wide variety of skills for performing a wide variety of stunts so Gogo ended up learning how to mimic everything in the world to parody it their performances. They only hide their true identity because not everyone has a sense of humor about their skills being parodied and they probably do have to steal from time to time for food/money for survival. After all, those dudes in Gogo's cave don't look like they're working for free and I have a hunch that Gogo hides their identity from them too and as such, Gogo is probably a woman. A male Gogo may not need to be as strict about their identity among all the male employees for the steampunk/fantasy setting that FFVI takes place in.
can't be Terra's Mom Madeline, as she was left for dead by Gestahl during the Esper Raid. There is no way that he was going to leave her alive because of the fact that she saw everything that had happened first hand. And if she had gotten away from the Empire, she could've united the world against Vector before the Empire got their 'newfound power' and would've made every attempt to rescue her daughter.
I have a script for a video talking about the links between Fakefried and Gogo. I’ve been wanting to do a theorizing video series for a long time and pulling the trigger on that this year. The thought of Gogo also being Baram is an interesting one! Gogo is a cool character to theorize on, for sure!
Do you maybe wanna collab on that video? Send me an email and we can go from there! (It’s in my about section here on TH-cam if you want to - no worries if you don’t!)
...Well, yes, obviously. But what fun is that when we could try linking the pixel-height of Daryll's sprite to his and speculating that she was merged with General Leo in the lifestream during FF7's events but then the Chrono Trigger cast kinda accidentally sent her back in time to the Xenogears world, where the Deus system rebooted reality and created the FF6 world *and Gogo is a left-over fragment of Ramza from FFT who got sucked up into the Zohar*?!?!?!?! This is the internet and we're in the 21st century. Facts suck, man. So stop it. :(
My theory on these mysterious characters is that even the devs/writers don't know. That's a strategy I've even used in writing stories. Who is this mysterious person? Well I don't know, so I'm not going to explain it. Let the audience figure it out.
I'm not sure we'll ever really get a cannon answer from the writers, and I doubt they intended for it to be answerable. That does make it fun to theory craft though and honestly my favourite is that its the same Gogo from FFV. The idea that some characters are travelling between the dimensions rather than just being their variant is so exciting, brings an idea that there's a bigger multiverse story that could be told throughout the games, and although I'm sure that was never the intent, new stories down the line may latch onto the idea and move things that way, which I'm all for. Imagine how amazing it would be to eventually have a Final Fantasy that literally lets you jump back into some previous worlds from the older games, getting to meet the hero's in full modern beautiful 3D and see those worlds and characters once more.
So Cyan is really Relm's stepfather, and Owain was Relm's half-brother. It makes sense now that Shadow is the only other character that is able to join Sabin and Cyan on the Phantom train. All three are similarly grieving losses and inner demons!
That adds a whole different level to it that I didn't think about! All of these are super far-fetched, but they're super fun to me! Thank you for commenting!
So your theory is that Shadow's wife left him, went to Doma, fell in love with Cyan and had Owain with him? That's... ...very interesting! Maybe her leaving him is another trauma that made Shadow want to "kill his emotions", what happened with Baram was just the nail in the coffin... She just didn't love him anymore, maybe she left when she learned he was a criminal... Plus it would explain Cyan's more magical Bushidos (his 3rd, 5th and 6th) : since she is a survivor from the Magi (I think she was Strago's daughter), she taught him some magics. This might become canon for me now!
Yo, I was thinking the same thing! I thought that Relm's mother and Cyan's wife were sisters or something like that. Nice to see I'm not the only one with that theory!
It’s actually crazy; I found that photo from an article and if you scroll through the comments, you’ll find the actual person who made that image for the article!
It can't be Baram due to Shadow's ending. I like the Siegfried theory personally. In any event FF6 the afteryears is LONG past due....would be nice to tie up this loose end in that game. I'd love an after years game. What happened to the followers of the Empire with a settled down world? How cool would it be to search through the ruins of kefka's tower? What is the fate of the statues and the goddesses? Getting a Canon answer to what happened to Banon would be nice too.
@The Returners' Hideout I saw and subscribed and love the videos. They cover a lot of things I've thought of over the years. I subbed and liked! Seriously though....the fate if the statues need to be addressed
@@lightofkolob7369 Why would the fate of the statues need to be addressed? You destroy them in Kefka's tower, The Warring Triad, Demon, Fiend, and Goddess. Also given that Kefka had also absorbed their power, which is why he himself is a god in the end, when you defeat him all magic is disappearing from the world (including Terra's Esper Half). To me, that's pretty cut and dry ya know?
My friend, I’m STILL finding little nods to it even though I released this video forever ago! I’m working on more videos similar to this one in the future, so thank you for watching and commenting, William - it helps a lot!
ok I know you can steal the Genji glove from the dragon on the floating continent but I'd love it if there were a story about the gengi stuff or the imp stuff. just saying it only recently occurred to me to equip the imp gear on an imp. but the Genji stuff seems like there is somehting to it. @@TheReturnersHideout
Wrexsoul has a memento ring from cyans wife (implied) the mother of his kid The fake Siegfried is the first one you meet on the train, who dies in only one hit. The real one is the one in the world of ruin. Gogo artwork clearly shows a man under the hood
I take Gogo as being Baram. Gogo can have any ability. Feels like copycat is a theif thing more than a mother thing. Too bad you can not ask Gogo in the game like you can in real life.
I think Baram is Banon. He has beef with the empire, he got stabbed in the back by an un-named friend. You meet them both during the 3 way scenario split. And he is one of those WoB loose ends that never gets explained
My going theory is that Gogo is actually a character that has been hit by the X-Zone and pulled into different worlds. FF5's job class system is where we are fist introduced to the Mime. 'Famed Mimic Gogo' and there is a possible funny interaction between the party and this mime in a village. Now- the 'trick' to defeating Gogo in ff5 is to just Stand Still, so he/she? can't mimic your actions and eventually flees in frustration. This leaves Gogo alive and set to return.. In FF6 Gogo is a playable character shrouded in mystery and rescued from deep within the belly of a Zone Eater in the world of ruin. Untold powerful magic in space/time creates the X-Zone, a magic so powerful it can completely erase a target from the world they are in- but where do they go? To the X-Zone? would a "Zone Eater" not devour these zones- And Whatever is IN them?- as evidenced from the sparce material and junk laying about the belly of the beast? FF6 perhaps leaves us with the most questions about this fabled mime... Now in FF7 materia is formed by the preserved memories and power of the ancients and lifestream crystalized, Gogo, or this famed mime's memories per say, were part of the lifestream somehow and crystalized into materia for Cloud and gang to find- the mime materia. How would Gogo have gotten into a New world? Maybe an adventure post FF6's story- trying to return "home" and things go wrong? Maybe the Ancients themselves are the people of FF6- lots of characters of powerful magical abilities, who reshaped their world once well, Kefka and the Triad - perhaps they restored it and formed the ancient world of FF7? Would it be such a stretch to think of Kefka as the calamity that fell from the skies? From his tower over the world of ruin? All magic was fading at the end of ff6, and in the end credits all the characters are given a little scene, Gogo is split from 3 of the others and falls in some factory/empire construction. Magicite was similar to materia after all, it was like the remains of the powerful Espers in a crystalline form. Could it not be like the Red Materia? In FF9 much auctioning is required for the party to get Steiner's big Excalibur sword, and the final item for the trade is the "magical fingertip" which as a rare item has the text "A rare item bought to an auction. A mysterious item. Linked to Gogo, supposedly..." when viewed in the inventory. Was this Gogo's fingertip? Horrifying. Or was this a trace effect of interdimensional space/time traveling where this item has a magical link to the powerful mime wherever they may be? I could go on, and talk about the character crossovers we've seen in the games since, and things like World of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts where time and space travel and dimensional cross overs are just core elements of the game. Or all the Mimic and Mime occurrences and off shoots like CopyCat... But what's the point? The most intrinsic thing about Gogo is that they are a character enshrouded in their mysterious garb as much as they are their past. Its highly unlikely IMO that Gogo is related to the party that finds them in FF6, a lost fiance, a missing sister, or an adoptive grandmother.. I'm noticing a trend of projecting 'Lost Woman' on Gogo for most theories... not cool, we can't even confirm gogo's gender, much less if they Have one- Gogo may well pre-date Quina as the first genderless character. I will also note that while the MMO titles 11 and 14 will not allow players to be named Gogo, perhaps originally intended as a crossover character between the two worlds- which was a core original design of 14, to take your characters straight from 11 and through a portal or even your mog house exit into the other world. Hence the same races and such at release. But Cait Sith has over the past 6 or so years taken over as the interworld/time/dimensional mysterious traveler.
This is dedication and I appreciate as this is my favorite game but this is fan fiction. Also, that storyline is more compelling if shes dead only contributing to Shadow...becoming Shadow. There's a reason why a FF6 reboot FF7 would take over a decade. But entertaining.
I always thought that Gogo was Gau's mom. You're led to believe that his dad went crazy when Gau's mom died in childbirth. But we have no evidence to suggest he wasn't crazy beforehand. I always thought that Gogo abandoned Gau or maybe lost Gau somehow when she fled after realizing Gau's dad was a nut.
Gogo, "A man shrouded in strange clothing... Or perhaps a woman? Perhaps not even human at all..." FF3/6 was way ahead of its time and a call out to 2024.
Wait, so Cyan would be Relm's father? Or was she an illegitimate child Elaine had? Or is she old enough she might have been a child from a former marriage that Elaine that ended with said husband's death or divorce, after which she ended up with Cyan? I like theory videos, but this one was a bit of a rollercoaster for me to try to keep up with. I think I got tossed off somewhere... XD
Im more of the notion that the "momento ring" is more Elaine's and NOT related to Relm at all. You mentioned 2 memento rings... which is for each of Relm's parents. Shadow and Relm's mom needing a THIRD ring, doesnt make sense. It makes more sense to just consirder it a seperate ring with memento value that just got the same title.
Eh.. I get it.. but why then only make that one ring still only able to be equipped by the few that can? Technicalities? Was it a mistake? I mean it HAD to be programmed in specifically to be dropped knowing full well the implications. What WOULD the point be of having three of them in-game when only two can equip it? I think it has everything to do with Relm as the entire point of Shadow’s dream was to point out Relm’s mother was in a dire situation and didn’t necessarily WANT to leave but had to. “Here old man in Thamasa, have this child and when she’s old enough, give her this ring.” The two other rings DO belong to Relm’s parents but we can’t see if Relm’s mother can equip it. This is super long winded I’m sorry lol, and in all honesty who really knows and I’m probably taking everything way too far again!
@@TheReturnersHideout Baseless speculation that anchors to nothing in the game v. you can obtain a second atma weapon by stealing from one of the last bosses so clearly *insert random lore here*. Also Chupon can give you the Memento ring if you bet it in the coliseum. He is most likely not biologically related to Relm. Maybe this is just a game with 255 "slots" for items/relics/equipment and only so many options to offer the player as rewards. And Gogo is explained by FF5. I mean, it's less fun an explanation, but it's correct and does not require completely fabricating lore... :P
Actually if you get a version of FF6 from the SNES Gogo CAN equip the memento Ring, It confused me when I was yonger cause I knew Shadow and Relm could equip it but one time equiping Gogo I noticed it was a choice.
Gogo is that dude I kicked into the InterDimensional Rift, after I stole every piece of Genji gear he had😂. After saying that out loud, I feel my place in Heaven isn't guaranteed......
My only issue is that the falls Shadow chooses not to jump in does NOT lead to where Sabin sees Gau for the first time. That jump happens at the end of the scenario. I think. I like the theory that Baram is Kefka much better, but this is fun to entertain.
@TheReturnersHideout man I forgot how long Sabin's scenario actually is haha you're right. Idk why I thought Baron Falls was the raft area, I must have been thinking of Banon.
Wrexsoul feeds on the emotions of the people who died at Doma Castle, through Kefka's poison and subsequent siege. There's nothing to insinuate that Wrexsoul fed off souls from other conflicts, especially ones further away. This boss monster is pretty much tied into Cyan's redemption arc, and is firmly a Doman scenario. This theory is a bit of a reach. I think the purpose of Gogo is to incite speculation and conversation. Gogo is meant to be a mystery. The chests in South Figaro's caves were looted by Gerad's gang - I'm sure he went along with it to not blow his cover. I'm sure there's lots of easter eggs, references, and such - but I'm pretty sure Baram is dead. I think if the intention was to tie him to Gogo or any other character, there'd be a bit more development on his character and story. As such, he's just a minor plot point for Shadow and his own redemption.
In nearly version after the SNES version (and in the original Japanese version), it states in game that the spirits that formed Wrexsoul were killed a thousand years ago. The only connection to Doma is it’s Japanese name which is “Alexsoul” which might tie into the Alexander magicite found on the throne after he is defeated. And also lol, I say frequently that all my theories require some stretch - all theories are a reach! But honestly, I love digging into this game more than any other! I’m glad you commented whether we agree or not! Thanks so much!
I think GOGO is relm's mother. Look at the official desc "A man shrouded in strange clothing... Or perhaps a woman? Perhaps not even human at all..." she is Relm's mother, dressed kinda like a man, but have a contract with a demon to live long and over see relm, thats why she is not human now.
@@TheReturnersHideout Final fantasy 6 I's a game i feel could really only work as turn based or active time battle. FF 13 has issues but I think it came extremely close to that balance of action and turn based. I also love to be able to customize how my pary plays down to the minute details like 12. With 12s gambit system I wouldn't mind it being a full action game but I'd prefer a full fledged atb(or csb) system with more depth and flexibility.
@@TheReturnersHideout imagine in HD seeing Sabin's blitz trigging and seeing him suplex the train or terra's esper form. I would die happy seeing someone cast a stupid overpowered spell and seeing celes obsorb it into her sword with rune like it's nothing. Seeing ultros in full HD or the floating continent. Seeing Kefka tower in the distance.
I've played FF6 since the day it was released in the U.S. (FF3 SNES) and Gogo's identity was never a big item of discussion. There were a few things. How about Relm being the only one Interceptor listens to besides Shadow?
Interesting video! I always think Gogo is a male character as Final fantasy games seems to have only three female characters. We have Terra, Celes, and Relm already.
This is so stupid. Gogo is Umaro's mom, ok?
Thanks for your input! I’ll work it into the next theory!
...and he's Mog's brother-in-law on his mother's side, and the daughter of a cactuar-raising tonberry troupe!
As much as I like hearing corkboard theories about Gogo I can't help but accept he's just a FFV cameo.
I mean probably so lol but I got stupid excited when I started connecting little dots here and there! Thank you for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout Yeah, I was on the Gogo = Daryl bandwagon for a long time. I guess it comes from fans in the West not having gotten FFV until much, much later to make the connection.
Yeah IMO Gogo isn't even from the same world
FFVI's Gogo looks human.
It’s same thing with Cid appearance
Gogo was also rumored to be Daylr, Setzer's girlfriend/lover. No one knows and that's the point. I doubt Gogo is any of those characters.
The creators have admitted he’s just a cameo
But what if they just said it to throw us off the scent? Maybe Gogo is Umaro's mom.
Relieved to see someone here has a clue, lol
The chest aren't empty in the south Figaro cave in the World of Ruin if you don't loot them in the World of Balance!!
He meant the Chest when jumping over the turtle to chase after Edgar not the original South Figaro Cave that we explore in the World of Balance
This is still assuming that the game lies to us on multiple occasions. About wrexsoul's origins, AND about the mother's death
Interesting that the mansion in Thamasa is already burned in the shadow flashbacks
Love how this is still being discussed 30 years later. lol
But we already proved that Gogo is Adlai Stevenson.
I mention that in another video on Gogo’s identity! It’s certainly interesting
@@TheReturnersHideout what's interesting? It's a goof by a fan who made up quotes to fool people.
What if Gogo, is Dary, who after the accident with the falchion, lost her memory?.
Gogo was in number two for SNES
And you finally got all the cut scrans
I've been obsessed with Siegfried since the game came out, and I still don't have a solid conclusion as to who they really are.
Here's a mind-screw. Look closely at his battle sprite. Notice how he *holds a firearm* ?
Since VI was the first of the series I played, it wasn't until I played V that I realized the similarities to Gogo and Gilgamesh.
You... didn't notice the similarities between Gogo and...Gogo?!
Gogo is a hidden boss in FF5, beating him gives you the Mimic job. After you beat him he hops into the Interdimensional Rift. That's how he got into FF6's world.
the ultimania clarifies gogo as an "estranged man" the unknown gender thing was a US mistranslation.
Now that I'm all caught up on the videos, I wish it was last night, when I stumbled across this channel having seen none of it, and could do it over again. Looking forward to the next one.
Oh man, thanks so much for that comment! I’ll do my best to keep making them!
I have a theory and... it may not be far off... but the two ghosts you can recruit? I think they may be Biggs and Wedge. The concept is kind of mind blowing lol.
Oh daaaaang, that’s an interesting theory! It is super mind blowing - I like it! Thank you for commenting that theory!
His Desperation attack 'X-Meteo' is a direct reference to being from the X-zone (later retranslated to Dimensional Rift)
WHen you defeat him in FFV, he returns to the Dimensional Rift.
They seriously need to remake this gem of a game!
Remaster please. If they remade it and made it action i would end myself
Sorry bro, but I’m actually Gogo
Dang it Tyreese! Now I’ll have to make a whole new video! Seriously though, thanks for watching and commenting, I’m now going to name Gogo ‘Tyreese’ in all my future play throughs
This video is way too polished and well crafted for such a small channel; it needs more exposure.
Wow thank you for that!! I’m trying super hard to do my best on this channel! That means a ton, thank you again!
Gogos just yet another recurring thread that connects final fantasy titles and gives them a comfortable familiarity.
Like bahamut, Cid, moogles, chocobos, etc.
MORE GOGOs plz.
Whelp, you’ve convinced me; the imposter Siegfried is probably Baram, and perhaps Gogo as well
This is an interesting theory but I thought the creators of the game said Gogo didn’t have a backstory. I know Darill is another theory
You, sir, are the very best kind of looney, and have given me a great deal to think about during my next playthrough of FFVI (I come back to it every couple of years because its just that damned good, and I havent enjoyed a mainline FF game enough to finish it since X). Subscribed; can't wait to see your other videos.
I love that, even in 2022 (now 2024), there are still things to be discussed regarding the story.
*gasp* and in the coliseum? Hmmm…. You might have opened a can of worms here… more research is needed!
He might be Locke masquerading Siegfried.
I always thought GoGo may have been the emperor. Like, maybe he didn't actually die and got some sort of power from the statues before Kefka tossed him from the floating continent. He does fall towards a triangle looking shaped island. Then if you find him he joins up in order to atone for his past deeds. 🤔
This is good. I like this! Actually their color palette is the same too now that I think about it..
on the other hand, at the time everyone thought gogo was daryl because in the flashback that was where the falcon crashed.
I enjoy hearing your theories on all the FF games and can't wait to see more in the future. Watching all your videos makes me want to play the FF series from start to finish again.
Do it! I’m currently playing through all of them over again too!
I'd love to. But I don't have time. I'd love to be doing what your doing.
I just watched your Mega Man Crimson video, good stuff! Congrats on the 1k subs!
I like it!
I always liked to think he was Gestahl, seeking revenge on Kefka.
FF Rules
- If you all off a cliff, you'll turn up just fine later on as long as you're not shown hitting the ground.
I mean... right? >_>
nice vid! like and sub.
i remember there was evidence in the game that tells you Daryll is gogo... at least they focus the attencion on that particular way
Thank you so much!
Told you it's been a long time! ;)
Dunno how I mixed those two up, but yes -- to amend my original comment, there was a standing theory way back when that Gogo is Daryl, NOT Rachel.
Sorry for the confusion!
No worries at all! That’s a super popular theory and one that I could explore for sure.
@@TheReturnersHideout I’d be down for that. I’ll be in touch!
Gogo is Gogo.
He's a recurring character like Gilgamesh and Yojimbo.
...Well, yes, obviously.
So stop it. :(
dear lord there was so much reaching in all those faulty theories that you might as well be Reed Richards from the Fantastic 4
Just a thought I had while scripting one night lol. Thank you so much for commenting!
Shadow was on the Phantom Train because he was originally a train robber with Baram.
Why is Kefka in the screenshot of Celes’ Cliff jump?? (3:08)
It’s actually crazy; I found that photo from an article and if you scroll through the comments, you’ll find the actual person who made that image for the article!
GOgo is the emperor
I thought Gogo was Darill for the longest time.
I'm writing another Gogo video and I'll be visiting that theory!
That's been our household theory for ages.
This is the dive I’m here for.
I’ve got a video for Banon also! And I totally 100% agree with you there NEEDS to be an FF6 after years! Thanks for commenting!
I like this meta constructing. based on hints left in item placement. maybe they were turning us in a particular direction.
Gogo is probably Baram, who got back from the world of FFV to go treasure hunting.
This is fantastic bro!! Found u by complete accident. U got a sub for being awesome
Awwww thanks so much for that! That’s super nice of you!
I just loved using him/her in 6 cause you can just put him/her in any kind of party and make it work and don't have to manage espers on him/her.
him gogo cant use female stuff
Wrexsoul has a memento ring from cyans wife (implied) the mother of his kid
The fake Siegfried is the first one you meet on the train, who dies in only one hit. The real one is the one in the world of ruin.
Gogo artwork clearly shows a man under the hood
No, Gogo is definitely Daryl! 🌸
I take Gogo as being Baram. Gogo can have any ability. Feels like copycat is a theif thing more than a mother thing. Too bad you can not ask Gogo in the game like you can in real life.
They need to make the momento ring equippable in the pixel remaster just because of this theory
Chupon has a memento ring too. So 4.
You'll also notice that Siegfried and Gogo have green eyes, but Baran doesn't in the scene you showed.
Baram is Kefka
Keep in mind, Go go can equip stuff like the Snow Scarf and I think Umaro's relics?
great video. i like the theory about Baram being GoGo.
I just want to know why Gogo wanted to live the rest of his life hanging out with the Irish in the stomach of a worm.
Interesting theory. I didn't think about that.
Even as a kid I just kind of accepted that Gogo was the fake Siegfried, but I didn't put nearly this much thought into it.
It was Siegfried who was the fake Gogo!
I watched this entire video thinking of the crazed Charlie Day stringpin map meme.
It’s funny, I had a thumbnail I was going to use was exactly that!
Didn't Gau's mom died giving birth to Gau? It's what snapped his father to become insane.
Gogo, "A man shrouded in strange clothing... Or perhaps a woman? Perhaps not even human at all..." FF3/6 was way ahead of its time and a call out to 2024.
This is every dorky kid from the 90s first conspiracy theory.
I'm not convinced on any of this but I love the rabbit hole theory-crafting. It's just a lot of fun lol
Thank you! I love making these types of videos specifically for that reason. I don’t believe any of it, I just like the sport
XD
Having Gogo be Relms mother would also explain why Gogo could mimic magic. Mimic would be literally a 'mage knight' subset.
You used the image of Celes with Kefka in the background I used for my blog on FFVI and suicide. Cheers.
Forgot to mention about memento ring, its more a wedding ring, we know those two were married.
A shame he can't equip the EFFING RING.
This.
Eh.. I get it.. but why then only make that one ring still only able to be equipped by the few that can?
After saying that out loud, I feel my place in Heaven isn't guaranteed......
my pet theory about Gogo is Darryl
My friends in school had an idea that it was actually Gestahl
but ultimately, I think Gogo is just Gogo. He was a character in Final Fantasy 5 and I think it was just an easter egg for final fantasy 5
Siegfried and Baram also have opposite eye patches.
My only issue is that the falls Shadow chooses not to jump in does NOT lead to where Sabin sees Gau for the first time. That jump happens at the end of the scenario. I think.
I like the theory that Baram is Kefka much better, but this is fun to entertain.
Baren Falls leads to Mobliz, which is where you find Gau on the Veldt! I had to double check myself but it’s true!
He’s the mime guy. You know, from Final Fantasy V.
So in the video I linked to in the card mentioned at the beginning, I definitely cover that!
I told myself I’m never gonna play this game again despite loving it in my collection, I wanna play this game again lol
Am I going crazy or do I see Kefka’s battle sprite in the water @ 3:08?
No lol you’re not going crazy, it’s there. You can thank google images for that one!
it makes so much sense... wrexsoul is relm's mother...
I love the name Careless Whisker! Thank you for commenting!
I might play this again after I finish Chrono Trigger Crimson Echoes.
I want an ff6 remake with a hybrid of 12 and 13s combat. That would be so beautiful.
Creating gambits in an action oriented style that utilized Espers and Magitek Armor?! Interesting concept!
Oh and the cutscene of flying towards Vector would be just chilling.. the entire second half of the game would really be something to see!
I hate 12's gambit style
I've played FF6 since the day it was released in the U.S. (FF3 SNES) and Gogo's identity was never a big item of discussion. There were a few things.
How about Relm being the only one Interceptor listens to besides Shadow?
Relm's mom was a blue mage.
Interesting video! I always think Gogo is a male character as Final fantasy games seems to have only three female characters. We have Terra, Celes, and Relm already.
Yeaaaaah.... Stretch Armstrong would be proud of you for stretching that theory that much.
Any good conspiracy comes with mozzarella-level stretching, wouldn’t you say?
that was fun
Gogo is actually Ness' father
I really need to play ff6 again
I’m always finding new ways to play it and new things to look out for!
This is a sign to play ff6 again
