The woman in the second mural was Marie Curie-Skłodowska. Olomouc hosts the Academia Film Olomouc festival and this year will be its 60th year! When you are in Olomouc again, I recommend you to visit the Rozárium. It is a wonderful place full of greenery where rose exhibitions are held. For a beer, go to U Kuděje, they have a selection of smaller local breweries and it's a very cozy place.
SUPER video about Olomouc, congratulations! I know well Olomouc, it's really a beautiful town on Morava, in fact the 6th largest city from Czech republic! PS. Indeed, that ice-cream was excessively expensive, no matter how good it was!
@@dagmarmedabrejlova8825 Ano, mesto neni moc velke, ale ani male mestecko to neni, osobne se mi moc libi! S pozdravem, z Rumunska, kde zije vyznamna cesko-slovenska mensina!
It is hard to believe that the cathedral shown in video was built in 1131, since this gothic style started to get popular in Central Europe with 1200's - in this more developed style even after the second half of the 13th or into the 14th century. The interior looked neo-gothic as popular in the 19th century. The sign must have talked about a predecessor building. Olomouc cheese is similar to Harz cheese in Germany which is very low in fat and high in protein, so it is a sort of healthy option.
Yeah maybe I’d have to read it again and see if the original structure was built then and it changed over the years! I did really like the cheese though 🧀
It usually took several hundreds of years to build a cathedral, they're usually built on top of an older church (at least in my experience as a tourist) so that's probably the case here too.
@@afiiik1 sure. it needs a bit of practice to recognice European styles ... and than see that you see actually a 19th century structure and not a predecessor from the 12th century. That could be difficult for American tourist at first. But it cut be crucial when visiting Central Europe. There tourists are often excited about the castles. But often these "castles" are not medieval structures with a military purpose ... but romatic residences of the 19th centuries in a castle-style.

Good video, keep up Jake!
Thank you so much :)
Nice video, felt like I was there
Glad to hear that!
169 CZK / 7 $ for ice-cream is too expensive here.
That’s fair. The ice cream was almost as much as the 2 drinks and Olomouc cheese
@@JakeBraymillerOlomouc is a nice city, but I recommend visiting Kroměříž for the archbishop's palace and gardens.
Thank you for the tip!
