This video guide demonstrate the steps on How to Enable LAN Routing in Widnows Server 2019. Lan routing is feature is a part of "Remote Access" and allows for connecting 2 networks together, allowing a Windows machine with at least 2 NICs on 2 separate networks to handle the routing between them.

How would you go about setting up LAN routing for two VMs to talk to each other while also allowing them to have NAT translation to get Internet access from your router as well? I tried having Windows server 2019 doing both NAT and LAN routing but wasn't having any luck. Not sure what I was missing. In short, I want two VMs to talk to each other through the windows server LAN routing while also allowing them to have internet access.
Did you found an answer? I am right now searching also for this possibility.

No, only IP addresses on each interface.

Hi, So lam having the issue where l can ping the IP for the DC from remote location but when l try to ping the Domain Name, it fails. Any idea why this is happening
Looks like DNS problem. Check with nslookup command, try to find domain name to IP using the command.
which network adapter you use to configure vms
NAT or BRIDGE
Most of time "Internal", if internet is required then "Bridge".

Do you know, if it is possible to configure static routes on the server, thus clients do not need to make static routes on theirs pcs?
Yes it is possible that you can add specific static route on server and just point your client to the server (use as default gateway).

If I type route print, would those routes will be visible on client PCs, or it would be transported when it gets to the server?
And another, if I have client PC with WAN and LAN NICs, setting the gateway on the LAN NIC, would it still provide static routes, but just for the LAN interface?
@@vladislavkaras491 1. The Static route which you add on server will only available on server. It will not visible on client when you run route print command.
2. When you run route print, you will see which route will use which interface.

Changing static routes in rrasmgmt.msc and changing it in cmd, does it make any difference for the clients?
I tested it a little. If I add something through the rras, it will be displayed in route print, but not vice versa (with and without -p). Are there any major differences?

Since we are using that server for LAN routing, I haven't assigned gateway or DNS address on any those interfaces. Ethernet adapter has IP address 172.18.72.1 with 255.255.255.0 subnet mask and for Ethernet 2 adapter it is 192.168.72.1 with 255.255.255.0 subnet mask.

I’m able to route between 192./24 & 10./24 networks but the 192 network goes out to internet & I can’t reach internet from 10./24 network.

@@SnakePlissken1 If you want to access internet as well then you need to configure NATing in VM. For that you need to use Routing and Remote Access Service. Check out this video: th-cam.com/video/bgpEOc6WHFo/w-d-xo.html
