I am a technician by trade and received training for this new vehicle, the r and d was done in germany (opel/gm). the cars final testing was done in south Korea. fyi deawoo does not have it's own infastructure anymore ever since it when backrupt years ago. but hey believe what you want you'll see soon enough!
@bigphat200 GM recently stated that we will be getting a diesel option for a car in the U.S. they just didn't say what car yet. my best guess would be the cruze/aveo/or the redisigned 2012 malibu
sorry but the google info is not correct the r and d was done by opel/gm the vehicle did it's final testing in korea where the car was FIRST launched, just like the saturn sky was r and d in u.s and was first launched in state side before a plant was made in germany to build the opel gt and deawoo gt
I work on the Engine Adaption 1.6 and 1.8 Liter in Rüsselsheim / Germany (GM Europe / Opel). Right, Engines are based on OLD Opel Astra lines. Don´t know where your Information is from, but same as Buick La Crosse ( based on Opel Insignia) this car is to 95 % developed in Europe / Germany. This will change in future, Opel will get a new owner (Magna), only 35 % will be left at GM US.
Interesting.. are you sure? They are gonna be building this in a plant in Lordstown Ohio where I live... along with the Cobalt thats been built there for years.
@ntplano I wouldnt by any means compare this to any BMW 3 series. They are obviously targeting the more the VW Jetta market. Judged in the right context this a very solid car for the money.
I have ordered a Chevrolet Cruze 2.0 TD 127kws What do you think for it? If somebody replys me with good arguments I might be happy to buy it... or its not to late for me... because I can deny it. Thank u
so what your saying is the cruze can have 49 mpg squeezed out of it if you drive right. Not news to me, I know I can get more than 42 mpg for the cruze cruze > civic
can enyone explain to me what is the best way to drive CHCruze benz(i mean the number of spins) becouse i have Cruze and it spends 14L/100km in city and 10 on open road....
one more thing if i am talking shit why does the cruze uses the entire engine line from the opel astra Hmmmm the 1.6l 1.8l ecotecs for example are opel design as are the deseil engines? that would mean the motors and the elctronics had to be uplifted from opel wouldn't it !
to those who think this is a Daewoo Lacetti you are correct but the car is NOT a daewoo product to begin with the platfrom is shared with the OPEL ASTRA the daewoo version is built in korea and the opel version built in germany this car will be build in north america and for this market it WILL have it's own engines, and suspension tuning.I say lets see the car when it arrives hear. and for domestic haters shut up and eat your rice, thats all u can afford after fixing your ball joints on hondas
Why didn't they offer the 2.2 ecotec for more torque than the 1.8 the saturn astra get poor mileage with the 1.8 engine.And keep the 2.0 turbo gas from the coblat SS. Another ho hum small car from Gm. In the us the 2.2 ecote can get up to 36 m/g with the manual way better than the 1.8 astra at 32 m/g.
GMracing, google the cruze. you find out that the cruze was mostly developed in South Korea. It's pretty obvious Daewoo did much of the work to design the car. You are talking about the 6 speed transmission, engine bay, the interior, and even the design. Don't lie to us.
@valkyrieXX it's cute that you think i am a "clueless American" or that i "hang pride" on any car. the reality is that the cruze is a world car and has many world wide awards regardless of its percieved origins, but thanks for the reply that shows your anti-cruze position. i respect your opinion, but please leave me out of future comments because your biased opinions mean nothing to me :)
240p and nothing else? But I have a cruze, its ace, but i'v had a fair amoutn of mechanical issues... But all sorted by warranty so nothing to worry about
@blkguynlex This is a much better product than the Japanese are offering, this car will be produced around the world, in America it will be made in the USA. Honda and Toyota are long in the tooth and their engineering is behind the Cruze, This car will out handle and is more refined than anything in it's segment.
true, true, but the old car thing isn't a bad thing. the taxes is just too high on new cars. some of my fav cars that i own are over 15 years old and it really depends on the car. The Chevy seams nice but for the same money a 1990 Audi V8 with a manual gear box is just too much fun.I am just saying. there were more choices back in the day. i guess i don't believe the Government when they say they want more efficient cars for the US market, like the VW Polo that gets 70 mph in Europe.
I don't think GM is doing as well as you think. They about lost the Saturn devision and scrambled for a way to reinvent the bran, which is ho-hum as far as I'm concerned. The Olds division also folded. Keep in mind that pressure for higher quality and more intense competition is no doubt hurting profits, especially when GM has so many bland-o-rific vehicles in their lineup. Just seems like a poorly managed car company.
I have never seen a gas engine in the US get over 40 miles per gal. and living in one of the largest Countries coming in second in car sells we have the least amount of choices in what we want in cars. I don't like someone else telling me what i want to drive. Diesels last a lot longer then gas engines. I get 35% better fuel economy over gas and the cost of Diesel fuel is only 15% more then mid grade gasoline. Who needs it, most Anericans don't need a car. I WANT it.
@GranFury440 The fact that they are seriously targeting foriegn markets is something i think GM and all of the other American car makers should have got serious about a long time ago, they certainly wont be helping the country much if they are only spoken of in the past tense, and that damned near happened in the case of GM.
its so odd to hear him talking about how it has problems as its not a hatchback. in the US its the exact opposite...no one buys a hatchback...different cultures I guess, lol
Yeah ... that was quite a really good ídea to rebadge the Opel cars to Saturn in the US. For sure the GM brand with the worst reputation at all. And surely each potential customer was told (by the dealer) that this car developed by german engineers.... ;-p I´m wondering how this car would have sold when the original "OPEL" label was used. Make one thing
@USFanLovesMinHo You are right, europeans do like hatchbacks. I live in europe, and can't for the life of me work out why - personally, i hate them. I think it is more of a what people are used to thing - the majority of europeans will not express a preference for either hatchback or sedan, but when they go to buy a car, they will go to the hatchback version by default.
I've done hours of research on the cruze. The idea came from South Korea first. The transmission and the engine work was done in Incheon. South KOrean engineers did most o the work or the cruze. Opel, did not create this car. ... So once again, STOP LYING
@fishnmaster420 because she love America, know she dislike Tokyo and Germany, she doesn't know Tokyo cars was cool and Germany Audi, Volkwagen and Porsche Panamera was cool.
Comparing this car to focus, golf or its interior with insignia is insane. This is the cheapest compact in europe, and interior is cheap, filled with cheap hard plastics and buttons and plastic panels rattle a lot.
@valkyrieXX wow, you are biased and misinformed. unless you are an engineering exec with GM, i doubt that you know anything about the engineering of this car, especially the design and tuning of the powertrains, suspensions and transmissions used in this car. this is truly a global car in all senses of that term. no one accepts your apology, as you had nothing to do with the development, design, or marketing of the car. thanks for the opinion though
How disappointing. Just as I suspected....numb feel and handling, and yet another small car from GM that has NO SOUL. The most awful executives and middle managers on the planet hold GM so far back that there's got to be engineers for GM pulling their hair out when the cars they design that are a blast to drive get shelved for BS cars like the Cruze. I drive a Sunfire, but not forever. I've driven the 2009 Ford Focus and was very impressed with how well it handled. Yes, I'm impressed by Fords.
So you think GM would be okie-dokie with folding their business in the US? That's totally asinine. Why do you think GM is looking to sell Chinese made cars in the US? Because they're desperate to find means to make money!
I am a technician by trade and received training for this new vehicle, the r and d was done in germany (opel/gm). the cars final testing was done in south Korea. fyi deawoo does not have it's own infastructure anymore ever since it when backrupt years ago. but hey believe what you want you'll see soon enough!
"just check out those head lamps very funky" haha!!
because the car is based on the astra platform their is alot of potential here 2.0l turbo with possible awd is very interesting
@bigphat200 GM recently stated that we will be getting a diesel option for a car in the U.S. they just didn't say what car yet. my best guess would be the cruze/aveo/or the redisigned 2012 malibu
I bought one and I Love it!
@GranFury440 The Cruse is made in Lords Town Ohio, and was designed by an American design team.
sorry but the google info is not correct the r and d was done by opel/gm the vehicle did it's final testing in korea where the car was FIRST launched, just like the saturn sky was r and d in u.s and was first launched in state side before a plant was made in germany to build the opel gt and deawoo gt

@blade2000ss4 I am happy for you. Just hope the dealer treats u as well as the car has.
@lerch25 well, a hatch has no bigger trunk capacity than a sedan, unless you fold the seats down, which you can do in most sedans anyway.
Interesting.. are you sure? They are gonna be building this in a plant in Lordstown Ohio where I live... along with the Cobalt thats been built there for years.
@SimHarrison Easy, It doubles as a small station wagon
@pontiacgrandprx I read that a bigger engine is in the future, but not sure when.
@ntplano I wouldnt by any means compare this to any BMW 3 series. They are obviously targeting the more the VW Jetta market. Judged in the right context this a very solid car for the money.
@bigphat200 I heard diesel is going to be available in 2012 in the states, just got my 1.4 Cruze a few weeks ago it's fucking amazing
Nice Looking Car.
there's a new 120kw diesel with a six gear gearbox coming this spring
@nerio8 I think Europeans like the hatchbacks. I'm in the US and I like both.
Very nice car. GMis reborn. Chevrolet will start making cars for the 21st century.
@TheOfficialSHUTENT a hatchback car is a 5 door car.
Base models in the UK lack air conditioning??
I have ordered a Chevrolet Cruze 2.0 TD 127kws
What do you think for it?
If somebody replys me with good arguments I might be happy to buy it... or its not to late for me... because I can deny it.
Thank u
so what your saying is the cruze can have 49 mpg squeezed out of it if you drive right. Not news to me, I know I can get more than 42 mpg for the cruze
cruze > civic
i would give it 7-8 of 10 points for looks
OK, so why when GM already has the generally accepted Vauxhall brand in the UK are they trying to market this car there as a Chevy and not a Vauxhall?
i soo want this car not for anything but to owe the last of the mighty GM
Not bad at all, Looks a lill like the prev gen Mazda3
I kinda wish they had a better design on the tail lamps :(
@TheMadSyrupMaker I couldn't agree more.
can enyone explain to me what is the best way to drive CHCruze benz(i mean the number of spins) becouse i have Cruze and it spends 14L/100km in city and 10 on open road....

@camaroman101 aveo is not chevrolet, it's from Suzuki.. that's Suzuki Alto..
dont u think its too tall for a sedan ?
how is a hatch more practical than a sedan?
@willardopheus
yeah this is the only problem i have with
the car, i just wish a bigger engine was
avaible

@blade2000ss4 Everyone says that with a new car. call back in 6 or 7 months and tell me what u think.
@bigphat200 Well it's been 6 months that I've had the car and it's still fucking amazing. Sorry to disappoint you...
not suited to high speed cornering, more of a cruiser? why the hell did gm spend all those years sending it around the nurburgring for then?
unfortunatly it looks like the JDm honda civic on the back.
I am guessing we will not get the diesel engines in the states. ugh
@blkguynlex
This is a much better product than the Japanese are offering, this car will be produced around the world, in America it will be made in the USA. the steering wheel is from Opel
LOL
I can most certainly live without a hatchback.

i want the tdi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is basically a opel/vauxhall astra sedan. same engines and same chassies
THEYRE MAKING AN SS thats the sickest news ive heard , whered u hear of that?

@sebast007 I will second that!!
It was designed in South Korea, but the engineering was done in Germany. This is not just another POS Daewoo.
Yeah ... that was quite a really good ídea to rebadge the Opel cars to Saturn in the US.

unless gm sells cruze with a diesel engine and hatchback im buying a golf
@supermeshpool No, sorry not Korean car.
i liked the cobalt better
I've done hours of research on the cruze. The idea came from South Korea first. The transmission and the engine work was done in Incheon. South KOrean engineers did most o the work or the cruze. Opel, did not create this car. ...

FAIL wired microphone
Ugly Car,, Bad Service + Bad Service = GM Cars... Honda!! Mazda!!! Honda!! Mazda!!
A copy cat of BMW with a tiny engine = SUCKS!!!
chevrolet = cheap and unreliable.
Yawn.
