Can you detail how you integrated your rear wheels and live axle hubs? Obviously a Suzuki adapter hubs will be very different the the standard Azusa or other Honda wheel adapters, are you using bushings in place of the wheel bearings?
I think you did a beautiful job building your cycle kart. I have a suggestion do you pull the plastic bearing covers off and re-apply grease to your bearings before reinstalling your wheels? Have you ever thought of pulling the inside bearing covers off drilling a grease CERT in the center of your hub and pumping grease in with a grease gun?

My dad was a builder of antique automobiles. That won many awards, and I know how the hours can get eaten up trying to make everything just perfect. better I think just to enjoy the process without getting too anal about it.
Some people have the time and the skill to execute at a very high level, some people get frustrated trying to make it perfect and give up. I say error on the side of fun cause these babies are meant to be driven more then anything else.

Everyone from my neighbor to Jerry Seinfeld keeps antique cars in their original shape, or just barely mechanically functioning with a view towards use rather than show perfection I think that’s a good trend. It would be more expensive , but it seems a better idea to have a machine shop craft a metric front spindle to mate with the metric bearings . Plastic spacers , not so much . Nice car !

Beautiful Cyclecart. Didn't know that Cyclecar events were held in the Seattle area. Will have to watch for another one. You must live in South of Seattle close to SeaTac near my brother, or Boeing Field.. He is at the very south end of the airport and the planes on take-off are nearly overhead and deafening when a 747 takes off. Years ago we stripped the interior of his house and added 2X2's to the framing with an insulator(for vibration) between and them and filled the new cavity with high density foam which we also added to the attic ceiling joists and rafters. We also replaced the windows with triple pane glass windows and did double entries and an insulated garage door.. A lot of work and expense, but made the place livable for a musician.
You are correct, I am in Des Moines south of sea tac and yeah there are a few events in Seattle and once a month in stanwood. We have a lot of guys with karts in the PNW
I used to keep a sailboat until 2016 at the Des Moines Marina. I had it at Lake Union before that. I used to do a lot of work in the Seattle area and lived on the boats when in town and raced them on the lake and Sound. I have been interested in building a Cyclecart, but I don't know of any Cyclecart activity in Oregon except up in the east Gorge. I have designed a finned wheel hub/drums for casting and machining for front and rear locations utilizing wires and 17" rims and Jaguar style eared knock-offs to go with them. If you consult a bearing merchant you can probably find a substitue larger ID front wheel bearing that will fit your front axle and thus dispense with those nylon thinghies. I replaced the original 15mm ones with 17mm.
While watching your video I noticed that the body of the car seemed to be also formed out of wood strips. That had to have taken a long time to cut and piece together. What type of wood did you use? I am also curious about the rear suspension of your kart. If nothing else have some type of suspension at the back of the cart where your back and bottom are located would be a good thing. Being able to drive home after a race would be handy without being in pain, :)
Yes it took a few months from start to finish to make the body. I used modeling balsa wood , same as you would use to make a model plane for the main body then fiber glasses over it. The nose and tail where done with foam and cut down to shame and then fiber glazed over. The rear suspension is a 4 link push rod style suspension. I will probably do another video going into more detail after the next event is all done.
Dead Pedal concept is bunk. If you're wearing your belts properly tight, you won't be able to lean. If you're not wearing belts, you don't have proper control of the wheel to let you go as fast as the tyres will.
Honestly the hardest part of the build is finding wheels! Don’t rush it just set a alert on eBay and wait for them to pop up, took me 9 months to find 4 of them last year when I was building another kart.

Are you running a crush tube between your inner and outer wheel bearings? Unless you are running specialty bearings they do not take well to side loading especially preload from the axle nut which can cause the type of failure you had.
I do not run a crush tube , I keep meaning to add one and honestly I am surprised that it wasn’t a issue sooner, this is the first issue with bearing in over 2 years and more races then I can remember
Not at all, a lot of guys make a big fuss about trying to add a rear differential. I can promise you that most people who want to talk about that have never drove a cycle kart. keep in mind this is basically a fancy go kart. Have you ever drove a go kart and thought “ oh man this don’t turn I need a diff” 😂😂😂
Nice Cycle Kart, I'm looking at building one myself and interested in different wheel options other than the Honda Ct's. Can I ask what rims and tires you are using and what is the Karts overall length and wheelbase?
absolutely, I am using the Kawasaki KX80 front wheel. The ones with Black hubs have different bearing sizes then the ones with raw aluminum color hubs so keep that in mind. Either will work but you should run them I. Pairs. As for wheel base, that’s guna be between 66” and 72” depending on what you model your kart after.

Just some hemi joints , a leaf spring from a boat trailer and some trial and error lol! I am glad you like it:)

Someone should make an E-bike with the looks of a cyclekart! That way it would be legal to use in in Europe and sell like hot cakes.

Cycle karts don’t use belt so yes dead pedals make a big difference. It’s not a car it’s a kart
@@TheJunkHunter Then you should fit belts and a roll hoop as minumim, and then you'll have better control of the steering.

It’s a 4 link pushrod set up, almost like a 4x4 truck. I might do a video on just that in the future

Usually between 1000-2000 depending on What materials you use and how much detail you put into it.

The engine is a 6.5 predator motor. Basic lawn mower/ utility engine . 130$ at harbor freight or northern tool

Is the rear suspension swing arm? To the whole rear axle assembly kind of like a motorcycle?

@TheJunkHunter I think these Kawasaki rims look more 1920's race car than the CT90 rims. Thanks for the info.
@@timmiddleton7493 me to and honestly they are way stronger, I have never broke a spoke, but the down side is they are harder to find. Happy hunting!
