Watch the video! The discussion is not about whether you need CCNA knowledge or not. Answer this. 1. Is CCNA a cybersecurity cert? 2. Is CCNA deserve to be in the best/top cybersecurity certs? 3. Is CCNA better than CCNP or CCIE? *One TH-camr highlighted CCNA annual salary as super low compared to other certs. On his best cybersecurity cert! Where is the logic? Is CCNA considered best?
Totally agree that CCNA is not a cybersecurity cert, instead I would consider it as a pre-requisite cert before moving on to cyber. In most cybersecurity jobs, the expectation is that that you should already know these fundamental networking concepts. And thanks for mentioning the advanced/expert level certs, I feel that most tech youtubers only focus on the mainstream and popular certs, so I'm happy to see the expert level certs mentioned here!
This probably a better option if you will go for CCNA route: Network Engineering to Cybersecurity should be easy th-cam.com/video/tDTYLGwElVU/w-d-xo.html
I'm just speculating, but they likely listed those certifications due to their popularity with HR and job listings in their area. These certifications will most likely help get one's foot in the door of cybersecurity. I agree that there are far better certifications and courses, but HR will almost only care about your OSCP and CEH (and probably CCNA too).
TH-camrs should know better! In most cases, they mislead people. This is the comment from one of our subscribers: The problem isn’t the CCNA. The problem is jive turkey content creators. I just dont see the logic of “Best” or “Top”certs if expert level are not included. They should call it pop certs that most HRs/Recruiters only know
@@StyxShow I just passed the CCNA today using Jeremy's IT Lab. That guy is legit. Fewer than 400K subscribers. One of my channel suggestions is an influencer who oversells everything and offers nothing of value. Dude has over 4 million subscribers. Tells me that people value style (and happy messages) over substance.
@@jamesj9744 Yeh! Jeremy is legit! I know him personally. Seen our podcast yet? Wonder who is that TH-camr with over 4M subscribers?! 😊 400K subs as IT TH-camr is not bad. He just started 2020s. Mine subs count is bad!
I thought about getting it even though im interested in cybersecurity in the future, because i hear a lot of people just starting in cybersecurity arent getting jobs/getting into unpaid internships/ etc etc.. i felt the CCNA gives flexibility to work and gain experience in networking roles and background which could then later be used with later security specific certs to make you look more qualified to land an actual position, as well as have general career flexibility to move around.. So things like CCNA I thought are good as a "foundational knowledge" for someone, and seems like Network + is too beginner for networking background, what do you think of that
CCNA is always the best cert when you are starting your IT career and cert journey. It’s flexible and introduce various technology. However, topics are focus on Routing and Switching. If you want to go into networking + security. Right after CCNA, gear up with CCNP Security.
Here in new york they don't hire cybersecurity without knowing networking skill. I think that's the reason CCNA is there.
That’s understandable but TH-camrs should know better. CCNA is not a cybersecurity cert. If cybersecurity and networking, should be CCNP Security.
@@StyxShow How can you learn CCNP if you don't understand the basics of Cisco, which is CCNA.
And you think CCNPs are not CCNAs or dont have CCNA knowledge?
@@StyxShow you just proved that you need CCNA knowledge then, so it is required or advantagious. How stupid are you.

THANK YOU!!! I been saying this lost recruiters and other folks that is not a damn Cyber Security Certification..
Recruiters just copy notes and templates from each other. And these TH-camrs get those info from recruiters and job posting. What a mess!

This probably a better option if you will go for CCNA route:

What is your opinion on HackTheBox certifications ?
Will create a video for this. Thanks for suggesting.
Do you think it's worth it for a network engineer with interest in the cloud to go for RHCSA?
I would go for Linux+ or KLCP though. Recertifying RHCSA can be challenging.
should be, you'd be surprised at the number of people who have BSed there way into Cybersecurity jobs but don't even understand basic networking.

me preparing for ccna is here 😆🙏🏽
Still a good cert. Just don’t expect learning security technologies on your prep. And don’t expect landing security jobs with CCNA alone.
But you have to know you can't learn Cypersecurity with out networking bro
Networking is covered in Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate.
Most CCNP Security (if not all) are already CCNA.
