I want to build a secret bookcase door, however I want it to travel up (like a garage door). The challenging part is that it has to first slide back (so its not touching the wall) and then it has to curve upwards on an arch (I dont have room to make it go straight up. can you do load calculations on the different parts of the mechanism as the door opens and closes? I ask because I am considering this for a large garage door.
I did not make the calculations. I have made the animation only. Use CAD files of the video to get the dimenssions. Their links are in the video description.
my large garage door operates like this. Tho to assist the door while opening, & also staying open: The yellow bar continues beyond the pivot so it's total length is doubled, and on it's end is a long spring which attaches back to the purple part. The spring stretches while the door is closed, and relaxes while open.

This is almost a Holems garage door Hinge system sold in California since the 1950.s just extend the yellow rod and add a spring.
