except 2077 is okay now and it's single player so people can play it years later if they want. BF2042 is not going to have any players so nobody will be playing in a few years
I think the cringey one-liners the specialists keep endlessly repeating at the start and end of every match is what is truly killing the game. Everytime i stop playing, it's this that tips me over the edge to quit out.
I agree with you guys as well. It also makes me wonder what neebs gaming is gonna do with their battlefield friends shows. Hopefully the shows would convince the devs and higher ups to stay with the game and not abandon it like they did with bfV
Worst part of the game (outside of lack of scoreboard and voice chat). It's like 'serious, end of the world' intro, then 'oh, this is super silly stuff now!'
It’s funny how the marketing was focused on bringing back the greatness of the old games yet 2042 is missing many of the legacy features of the franchise
I wouldn't call a scoreboard or classes a "legacy" feature of a Battlefield game. But it's not only these design decisions which are poorly chosen. Take the 5(!) loading screens you have to get through just to start a match, or not bring able to stay in a lobby, let alone being forced to deploy on round start. Altough I have some fun with BC2 in portal, I cant see myself playing the same 2 maps for years to come. I really wish the developers will be able to fix the game, but i doubt it since it was driven by EA execs who wouldnt allow dice to make the good decisions. Sadly.
@@ghostarmy6995 Not a legacy feature?? It is a staple. We have not destruction, no 3D spotting (in a game with 128 players and no ingame voice chat), no classes, no close quarter combat, no infantry game modes, no game modes, no leaderboard, we have a grenade that reveals half the map but unlike the old games where the gadget had to be placed next to you and could easily be visible, spotted and destroyed instead of a random red flash on the floor because someone is throwing grenades out like it is candy. These are some of the issues that will remain even after the performance and bug fixes.
@@politicalmind6562 lol I thought you misunderstood me :D. I meant "not a legacy feature" as in these things you mentioned are so crucial to a game (especially Battlefield) that calling them "legacy" is just a very funny joke. These should be in the game at release with any of AAA Titels, so justifing their exclusion and framing it as "legacy" is very amusing.
@@politicalmind6562 no destruction??? Lol someone hasnt played the game.. whats your insta ill show you my own clips of the game running ps5 with destruction everywhere
Don't you just ever miss playing Battlefield 3, just having a good time, being immersed into the world of a soldier, enjoying the community, watching Battlefield Friends laughing about the small bugs and thinking this is the peak of gaming? Because it was and we will probably never get it back
Agreed bro Damm, it sucks because I absolutely loved those times of Battlefield 3, had so much fun, made some friends, just was amazing all around, I kind of got a similar feeling with modern warfare 2019 but nothing like BF3...
This feels like a similar situation to Cyberpunk 2077 where reviewers are probably reviewing the game and ignoring any technical issues. But the flaw in that thinking is maybe a reviewer is reviewing based on the potential of the game rather then what is in front of them. From my personal experience BF2042 does have a lot of potential I think the weapons, vehicles and specialist can be adjusted until they feel good, but it's hard to ignore the poor level design.
@@VanSanProductions I have to disagree. More likely that these reviewers were invited to a limited time event to play the game. SkillUp mentioned this in his first impressions video. The reviews that came in early were likely from these people that EA wined and dined. The second wave of reviews were much harsher on the game.
The issue isn't that the game is full of bugs, bugs can be fixed quite easily. The issue is that the game lacks content and the core formula is just bad. You can't fix what doesn't exist.
I personally like the formula, BUT the maps feel empty (probably to boost performance), aiming feels rough on console (ps5) and the bugs and lack of content are making it really hard to keep me interested. The vehicles feel like they’re lacking allot of attachments which made it fun to progress through and the heli physics play horrible with a controller compared to past battlefields…. I barely can get guns on target but other battlefields I had no problem ! Pc looks far easier but I have to be honest…. I’m still enjoying the game and have faith they’ll sort it out as they seem much more involved then past bf’s
Nailed it, Scott. I find the lack of weapons variety astonishing, and the specialist system pointless - just let me choose my stuff same as i choose my weapons and other loadout items. The maps are awful; There's no destruction, no real ebb and flow as the maps are overly large for the SAKE of being overly large - this adds nothing to the game play. None of my friends even want to play this
A battlefield game without classes is not a battlefield game. I've been playing since I was a pre-teen on my gateway family computer, when I had to install 64mb sticks of ram to play Battlefield 1942. It makes me sick to my stomach to see DICE turn this into a generic hero shooter. Its pathetic, and the lack of maps and weapons and poor gameplay and sound is just a shell of what it once was. It's been dead to me since BFV, but this is the final nail in the coffin. Remove the classes?, yeah...-..nah. I'm done. Decades long fan, tuning this EA/DICE crap out. Battlefield is dead. Gone. Another franchise and series dead and gone. RIP.
Honestly, the specialists killed the game for me :( I lost interest when I saw the game wouldn’t have its iconic class system. I have no doubt that we will see some kind of “traditional conquest mode” a year or so from now but until then… this is the first battlefield in a while I’m not buying
Actually I felt like the custom selection was good, but they should implemented customized characters instead of those especialist, or made them a pickup like BF1, maybe exclusive for harzadzone also, but not as common foot soldiers, also, the game is about mercs, the customizations can go wild, mercs doesn't really care for military patterns, they go for tacticool stuff.
Battlefield 4 had such a terrible release in terms of optimization and performance, but at least there was content built into the game that players could strive for. Once DICE worked to fix the crashes, the players could go hog wild and truly experience what the game has to offer. In regards to 2042, even after the issues are fixed, what is there to look forward to? A handful of maps and 22 weapons in which only a few of which are viable. With content not expected until 2022 (the patches will most likely further delay the season pass), I don't see how DICE hopes to recover the "All Out Warfare" aspect of this title. I have a feeling that the current model will follow that of Rainbow Six Siege and new content will bring a flood of players back for a short period of time before declining once more; rinse and repeat. In the pursuit of the next hero shooter, DICE and EA have shot themselves in the foot by bringing too many "identity changing" changes to a game all at once. The removal of the class system, reduced destruction, and overall simplified gameplay have left players clamoring to Portal and abandoning the only monetizable aspect of 2042. It was clear that by implementing specialists, EA hoped to make money from cosmetic skins for the operators, weapons, vehicles, etc. in a similar fashion to Battlefield V, but we saw already how unsustainable that practice was in terms of revenue because the game didn't have the player base to purchase said cosmetics. If 2042 doesn't become profitable, I'm fearful that EA will abandon the game outright or focus on monetizing Portal where in the process, they'll begin changing everything that made the past Battlefield games special in order to make some sort of revenue. They want to sell skins, then make them for specific classes and the existing specialist gadgets can become gadgets for the individual classes depending on their role currently within the game. I think at this point we're all barking up the wrong tree because the short-term gains are more important for share holders rather than long-term changes such as a complete facelift of the title and a return to form. I'm just disappointed and angry that such a beloved title has turned into this.
BF4 is still probably my favorite battlefield. That really says something as I’ve played all the mainstream titles and even with the launch bugs and glitches the amount of weapons and customization option made BF4 AWESOME! Having 10 different ARs, Carbines, SMGs, DMRs, and shotguns and snipers off launch was the best thing I’ve ever seen with 100s of different FREE GUNSKINS!
@@luisibarra9482 It's everything that players would have wanted and been happy with. I mean if they remastered BF4 and added in new maps, features, etc. people would have been happier than pigs in mud.
My negatives: - no server browser - only 22 weapons - can’t tell who has what in game(specialists) - lying and saying it’s ahead of schedule - delaying a month to only “polish” - specialists are corny as hell - load outs, skins, and vehicles not saving extremely frustrating - no game chat - no proper leaderboard - no infantry focused maps or modes in all out warfare - hit reg My positives: - plus system (actually use it quite often) - still fun at times when working - dev communication - portal when working
@@ChrisMcGuire0 cheaters don't work like that, they don't care about the leaderboard because they have nothing to prove, they only want to see you rage in chat
No Levolution either. It was cool. It was released far to early. I suspect that they will introduce a lot of the things we were used to in BF3 & 4 down the line, eg. Attack boats and and other vehicles like Quad bikes, but it might be too little too late by then.
The Mrs knows how huge of a Battlefield fan I am. I love flying the jets. She bought me a bad ass joystick set-up for the game since the Beta had "joystick" settings. Game comes out, that is gone and my joysticks are worse than anything. Have to play BF4 just to enjoy them....
I'm a flight fanboy as well, flying alot thru 4, 1 and 5. I just built my PC in time for the launch of 2042, and now I don't want to even learn the jets. I go to bf5 now for flying, I just love the classic planes 😁
The main problems with 2042 are structural, not bugs/performance. Specialist abilities need to be moved to a 2nd gadget slot. Users should not be forced to decide between a rocket launcher and a repair tool. Maps need a revamp and we need smaller maps as a choice. Infantry combat is either running in an open field for a long time to get to an engagement, or being hit from multiple directions in an open area with no cover. Helicopter gunners have zero progressions, and one gun. There's so few weapons to choose from, and they take forever to upgrade. All they needed to do was create an updated BF4. The game would be selling like hotcakes, and would have loads of users online all the time. Instead they released something that isn't very fun, and is mostly a chore to play, so the player count has dropped significantly.
@@justinrowe2715 exactly, it doesn’t feel like a Battlefield game anymore. It’s basically BF4 and Apex all at once but with a ton more of bugs and fps drops, as a legend once said “20-42 fps”
My main issue with this game is that it lacks “soul”. With Portal, Hazard zone and All-out Warfare all being part of the game, it feels like they tried to make 3 games at once, but didn’t think any of them out at all. There are very little weapons, and the weapons that are there don’t have character. The attachments are trivial. Playing this game and matches feels irrelevant. Maybe I got too old, but I don’t feel excitement in matches. It’s all just “mehh”
I felt exactly like this with the main game, thought I had gotten real bad at it too until I played Portal with the classes and older weapons. Completely different and I could relive the excitement I once had!
Whilst I agree with a lot of what you said, the biggest chord that struck me was when mentioning that it's the "norm" in battlefield games to have a lot of bugs and you just "had to deal with them". I agree that games will always come with bugs, you can go back to the beginning of gaming, and it was fun to find the "glitches", but the trend of more and more games coming out half-baked and to quote you "take years" to fully iron out is frankly unacceptable. At some point we need to stop pointing the finger at the "Overloard evil corporations" (EA, etc) that force devs to put out games on a strict timeline, and start to look at ourselves and start holding ourselves accountable instead of endlessly pointing the finger to other parties and blaming them. Consumers need to stick their opinion in their wallets, stop "pre-ordering" games before release, stop paying for "battle passes" every 3 months, stop paying for "microtransactions" that "don't effect gameplay", stop purchasing games before they are actually in a playable state, the only way to demand change is to hurt it where they hurt most, their stock prices. We need to hold OURSELVES accountable for allowing this to continue, EA and the likes are not going to change unless we start to show them that we are not going to sustain their terrible business model they currently have. Rant over.
I agree totally, though EA has shown they'd be more willing to just cut or drop their smaller games or reboots first, in the past. So getting through to them will be rough on gaming communities. But whole heartedly agree you should not pre order unless it comes with something really worth it to you that night be rare like a collectable figure or something idk. Then you can debate but otherwise nah, no one in AAA space is really handling things that great to me.
There is a saying in russian: Consumer votes with rouble. I didn't buy bf games since the shittiest launch of bf4. That was a pure disaster at launch. At the end of it's life, bf4 got playable. But it is almost dead at this point. And they still do the same shit - again and again and again launching a half-made game and expecting what? Positive rewievs from gamers? As I remember, it's called 'insanity". Doing the same shit and expecting different outcomes.
Agreed but I think it's like asking addicts to stop purchasing shitty weed so that dealers would have to start supplying better. Nice sentiment but not likely to be successful in the long run.
I’ve brought this up before but deserves reiterating here, the first official release from DICE touted how complete the state of the game was….BACK IN MAY!
It was so easy to tell the game was going to be bad just by looking at the trailer. It was pure nastalgia bait, I have no empathy for people that fall for the same trick every year
At this point we can assume that any official press release by DICE is a complete fabrication unless they have gameplay footage backing it up. It's sad that we need to "pics or it didn't happen" these people
Here's one thing everyone keeps forgetting when talking about other bad launches, like BF3 or BF4. Yes those launches were bad, buggy and annoying, but the underlying games were still good. The content was solid and the gameplay was fun. Bf2042s content is abysmal and the gameplay just isn't fun. Specialists were THE worst idea they ever had and I for one will probably never touch another BF game. And that's saying a lot for someone who started playing when 1942 came out. I'm so incredibly sad that EA/Dice refuse to acknowledge that they fucked up AGAIN and keep claiming everything is fine.
lmao dude this is a super solid take, I was telling my buddy the same thing that BF4 was regarded as being shit at launch but the game itself was fun. BF2042 just isnt really that fun in normal modes. and I swear the ONLY reason they made it so every specialist can use every gun was to further justify the fact that the game has roughly 20 or so guns when BF3 and BF4 had around 20 guns in each weapon class.....
The biggest issue IMHO is that these are big companies that have lost their way. They are simply in it for profit and refuse to listen to the devs in making decisions. EA needs to be chopped off at the knees. This is it for me, no more BF.
I'm sitting here editing this insanely long documentary on this series and it's like history repeating itself with this games launch... DICE/EA has a real problem with general direction.. this series needs a more consistent vision to prevent this launch nonsense from happening
@Gustavo Henrique "greed" is irrelevant. It's a business at the end of the day. It's always going to be influenced by money. But there needs to at least be a person at the helm keeping this franchise going in the right direction
@@Nick930 Greed plays a huge role as it makes it almost impossible for a consistent vision as upper ups keep persuing every new trend and in the case of bf2042 they went with apex/cod remix. They wanted to bank on skins and hero type costumatization.
It starts with not trying to be CoD. They added drop shotting, armor, slower TTK (trying to be like Warzone?), all the CoD animations from spawning at start of the round to reload animations. Running with gun in the air, etc. It's sad to see they care more about stealing Warzone players than making BF veterans happy with classic BF features and classes.
I want Battlefield 1 graphics/feel in a modern setting so badly. Still the most immersive military shooter I’ve ever played. Will never forget my first night playing it and being in persistent awe of the animations, weight of the movement, some of the huge map moments like the blimp happening etc. I literally never cared about the perceived gameplay issues (grenade spam, limited arsenal) because playing it felt so perfect and like a real battlefield.
I’m about to go back to bf1. I’ve never been one of the people to slam battlefield. I try to find joy in all the bf games. But this new one is god awful.
I love how people defend 2042's disastrous launch with the "Every Battlefield has a buggy launch", dude, is that supposed to be something good? Does that gives the right to EA/DICE to ask us 70+$ for this pathetic mess!? Give me a break.. Btw, I wish my problem with this game where only the bugs.. If BF4 survived the bad launch it had, it was because underneath the bugs, DICE where making the right creative decisions, 2042 doesn't even comes close to that..
No, it's just that we are used to Battlefield being kinda crap on launch. Every BF game since BF3 had a bad launch with a lot of bugs that made a lot of controversy so it's nothing new to us. No one is saying that it's ok.
Here’s the thing. Not only do we get a buggy launch… we also don’t get a scoreboard of the whole entire lobby.. no voice chat… I guess if you’re on different platforms than your friends ..you just meet at someone’s house and bring your equipment with you like the way it was done in the 90s , for squad communication?? Lol! No stats .. no ability to change squads… I remember an older Battlefields there was like 10 of us that played together.. not anymore.. no server browser to make it happen… Like were they high making this game? Smh..
@@entreri76x totally agree with that. Maybe previous titles had a buggy lunch but none of them had that lack of fundamentals (gunplay / map design /team play...). This game is just a pack of ideas taken from other games and glued together to make this garbage.
@@freyrdu35 And to remove all the standard/fundamental features that made battlefield, Battlefield.. is insane.. like, where are the classes ? No one asked for specialist, nobody..
The problem with the 2042 launch is just what you said: diehard Battlefield fans (like me) have the patience to wait for the bugs to be fixed and the weapons balanced, but the new players, arguably whom DICE is targeting much more heavily, won't have this patience and will leave before it becomes good. EA is trading long-term profitability for short-term, and that pisses me off.
Then there’s fans in the middle who chose to wait prior to preordering. After getting burned by BFV (which I play on occasion) this wasn’t worth the money.
For me Battlefiled was always about the immersive "All out war" feeling with tanks speeding down the landscape while choppers doing crazy soldier drop offs on roofs :D Or in terms of BF1 and BF5 capturing the atmosphere of a battlefield. But 2042 has none of it... didnt have one single "Battlefield" moment yet... qith all the weird voicelines and operators it feels more like a COD or even Overwatch not like the "in the center of a battle". The bigger maps also just make everything feel distant and lacking action although there are twice the players... the maps all lack detail, some especially in urban arreas where it looks more like a clean room than an actual real place at all. I still play BF4 and BF5, and when they said it was a love letter to the fans... I was excited, but this is the kind of love letter you get from your psychotic crazy ex not something the BF veterans wanted.
The reason why older title's bugs and exploits were more bearable were that the COMMUNITY created servers and environments that circumvented many broken or unappealing mechanics. Custom servers used to be the norm given right front and center, that hasn't been the same since BF4. That used to be the where the community and the entire life of the game came from, and its treated like an afterthought now
I couldn't agree with this more, custom servers are long term driving force that keeps battlefield games alive. Bf4 and bf3 wouldn't still be kicking if custom servers weren't a thing. My friends and I were alot more excited for portal this year more then anything woth 2042 because it gave us our custom servers back. Only to be nerfed dramatically because of bot farmers. So mostly we haven't bought the game.
I haven't had a chance to play this one yet, but it makes me sad hearing all the horrible feelings people have about it. My first Battlefield was actually Battlefield 1, but shortly after launch I started playing BF4 and went on to play more of it than BF1 and BFV combined. I've waited for years thinking this would finally be the true sequel to BF3/BF4, apparently only to be disappointed. Edit: For those saying just buy it or use EA Play, that is not the issue. I have not been home since the game launched, but that will change soon and I will play it for myself.
It's not as bad as the 2042 Subreddit, for instance, portrays it to be, but their feelings about the game are admittedly valid. We've been dealing with these horrible launches for decades now, and the players are just getting fed up with it. They promised this time they had it and not only did they not 'have it,' they charged $90 to $110 for early access to a product that is still in a very rough state two patches in AFTER launch.
It’s not bugs that bother me, it’s some design choices like armor in standard multiplayer, specialists that make both teams look and sound the same, and way too many vehicles.
I think what bothers me the most about this game that I don’t think is reconcilable is the maps\spawns are. Performance issues, hit registration, and balance can all be fixed. But the maps just don’t seem to have good game flow. I think its the maps more so than the specialists that are really killing team play. The maps are just so big and open that there’s all this dead space between the objectives, teams don’t battle and push each other back from one objective to the other you just run between them, and occasionally find a small skirmish or get picked off by a passing vehicle. And fighting at the objectives is just absolute chaos, everybody is everywhere, coming from every direction. There’s way too many ways to get to anywhere, so you never know where anyone will be coming from. There’s always either so much cover that you can’t possibly check every angle or so little that you just have to run across and pray. IMO a well designed map naturally channels people through it, with points of cover and high ground to jump between and battle over, as well as choke points to hold enemies off at, it naturally brings teams together to the front lines attempting to push each other back. Obviously if a map is too linear that can cause its own problems, good maps often give routes for squads to flank and outmaneuver. And a little bit of chaos certainly can spice things up and create exciting moments. But too much, ruins team play and makes you feel like there’s nothing you can do because you always get shot in the back or mowed down with nowhere to hide, which is exactly what I feel with 2042.
I noticed what you did. The maps are horrible. I've been playing these style games since Unreal Tournament and map flow is crucial. I'm not a fanboy of any title or company but I can tell you that COD Vanguard nailed the map flow. Everything you talked about for a map COD has. The gunplay is great and I can even get some consistent play. I found myself wanting to like BF 2042 more but I found myself going over to COD because the game feels better and plays better. Just one old timer's opinion.
Not sure how I feel about the specialists yet - I'm indifferent, but your take on the current maps and how a well designed map is structured is absolutely spot on.
To me it’s what map I hate less and I’ve been playing on the same 3 maps over and over!!! I still haven’t played the other 4 maps after 10hrs on XSX and 12hrs on PC, like seriously? But as you said, I always end up mowed down by a vehicle or 80% of the times from somebody behind me that came from above whether with a chute or that damn flying squirrel specialist… never had the feeling that what I’m doing actually contributes to the team, really, even taking objectives. Tried to like the game but as for now it’s useless, can’t enjoy it, but I enjoyed BFV since the beginning, because aside from the same launch problems form older BF games it felt like BF. Happy not having wasted money for this game
As a Battlefield veteran who has played every title and achieved max rank in every title since bad company two, this is the first battlefield title I decided to skip and honestly glad I did. I skipped this title because Dice killed the support for BFV and with it my trust in the company. After seeing this launch I feel justified in my choice and have no plans on buying this title.
I'm in much the same spot mate, played 1000s of hours of Battlefield since BF2 and this is the first one I've skipped. I started to lose faith with some of the BFV cosmetic issues and really lost if after I played 3-4 rounds worth of the beta. Right there I knew 2042 wasn't going to be for me. Felt too much like an obvious vehicle for cosmetic microtransactions than a real Battlefield title. I'll be very sceptical about any future Battlefield titles. I hope Dice can undo the issues and turn it around but 2042 seems broken on so many levels.
One of these days, DICE/EA is just going to have to take the community's word for it. Everything you said in this video is dead on accurate. There's been multiple opportunities for them to stress-test, take community feedback before official launch. They've even had the opportunity to increase one of the single entry's lifespans by pumping content into one title solely for longer than 2-3 years. Until I see a shift with this franchise, or publisher/development studio, I can safely say I'm pretty done with it. This is coming from someone who's been fanboying over Battlefield since Bad Company 2, and I even went back to play the original 1942, 1943, and Battlefield 2. I've stuck around long enough to see the pitfalls well before they've happened, and yet I've continued to pour dedication and hope to a franchise that has long lost its core development teams and identity. I can only hope they see this issue the way that everyone around them does, it may be the only thing that influences a change for the better in terms of the franchise's future. Otherwise, I feel this latest entry may be the death of it. What a shame to see my most beloved FPS lose itself.
Me too, I started with BC1 and then BC2 became my favorite and I’m really glad I gave a try when they released. Played every game even if after BF4 my friends couldn’t get used to new features and settings, but 2042 is the sum of all the wrong choices from EA/DICE….
It's we gamers that are the problem of these poor launches as people keep preordering and buying games on day 1. If we let the reviewers provide their feedback before players went out to buy games that would put a hurting on each developer's pocket and reputation for day one launches so they would launch better games as a result.
Yeah, people will talk about how every Battlefield launch is terrible, but the difference is that the problems are almost always network/backend issues, not basic design problems like 2042 has. The latter is time-consuming but straightforward to fix, 2042 seems to need an overhaul into the literal design of the game's lack of classes, needless and strange weapon customization suite, and including the usual suite of networking/bug problems.
Put the specialist in 1 of the 4 classes as a sub class add more flags or shrink the maps on next gen add a server browser add rush mode add more maps to portal add more guns also half of what I said needs to be done asap
id rather not have EA/Dice touch any "battlefield remakes" untill they sort out their shit and their priorities. they're just going to find a way to ruin it Just like how they ruined star wars battlefront. completley fine with not having a bf release for the next few years if they can sort their shit out.
EA's problem is that they're forcing competition with CoD when most people are either hard stuck with one or the other or play both anyway. They force the game out early to compete with CoD and the game releases unfinished. Not to mention they force mechanics like the specialists just because hero shooters are popular, regardless of if it fits with BF or not.
they forget BF caters to a special niche. making the game like COD will just alienate those who prefer BF and those who play BF for a different experience
@@falaflani4831 game looks trash just like new cod. I still play bad company 2 which is goated and caters to a select niche of players and it was back when bf was bf.
I remember back in BF3, I think, there was a bug with the underbarrel smoke launcher on the F2000 that pretty much made it a hitscan pinpoint-accurate death beam. Me and my friends joined an empty free-for-all server, started messing around with it and that server started to populate. We ended up with about 8 or 10 people, and they actually joined in with us lmao. We ended up making a house rule, if you ran out of smokes you had to use the defib to try and kill your opponent. One of my favorite memories of this game was me seeing one of my friends perched up on a crane trying to snipe someone, I was about 300 or so meters away, lined up the shot, and saw him die in a puff of smoke. That was honestly the best part, seeing that puff of smoke when you got someone. It was like a magic trick or something lmfao
The maps are just so wide and open, miss the cluster zones in certain buildings/towns where you could still get some interesting gun fights. Maps look pretty, but feel barren...odd feel given the doubled player count.
@@chriscalliss5999 there are in certain areas of the maps but ya sometimes you just spawn out in the open with 0 cover and 10 guys murder you 😂 I get what your saying man
They truly focused on the Hazard Zone and it's apparent with everything they added and removed from the old formula. I miss the Classes and the ability to actually customize your class instead of choosing a specialist that they want to sell skins for. Like if the specialists came as skins for the classes (Ala BFV) I'd buy Boris and maybe one or two others but to lock certain things they were showing off in trailers that were supposed to be available for 'everyone' like the wingsuit behind a specialist just makes no sense. Not only that, the ridiculous weapon bloom/spread, constant stream of 'Super Quirky' characters in a war-torn and scarce world, lack of weapons and gadgets available to everyone, dog-tag customization, first person takedowns, customizing guns while outside of the game, the basic ability to see the scoreboard or just basic necessities that should have been there at launch but weren't. This isn't a true battlefield game in my eyes as it's just not true to what it used to be. They wanted to capitalize on Warzone's success and just fell short because they wanted to make holiday money while also missing out on what both Warzone and Battlefield bring to the table. I've refunded this game until I can genuinely see they plan to add things to it for 'years to come' beyond the normal EA release and ignore strategy when it comes to game releases, I don't plan on ever rebuying it or any other Battlefield game. At the very least have more than 12 guns in the game, like come on man what were they thinking?
that's my main gripe. like it actually blows my mind how they released the game with that little guns. i'm glad to see someone else say something about this because I was really waiting for him to mention the lack of guns. I stupidly preordered this game with the mindset that it would be the new, modern/future battlefield experience with a bunch of tactical guns to use, and it literally kills me that there is little to no progression in that department. I swear this is so much smaller that any weapon count in a call of duty game which is known for not having THAT many weapons. And now that the game is released they probably wont be releasing a lot of guns especially ones integrated in the base game. And why the hell is there absolutely no way to play with all of the guns in a game. There is only progression for 12 so why not just add the rest of the god damn weapons they have in the game such as all the weapons in portal. If they integrated those into the progression of the base game I may actually have no issues regarding weapons. But not only is that not going to happen, but why isnt there at least a way to make a portal gamemode with all the guns avaliable to use. Like seriously who wants to play a bunch of unfinished, lackluster minigames for the content in the base game. The main gamemode should have access to every weapon in the game because at least that would make the weapon list not look like your almost at the end of the fucking progression for that weapon class. Fuck this game. Saying that though, I honestly have been having a fun time with this game in the same way that a battlefield is fun, but I can guarantee that I am going to run out of progression sooner way than I think.
@@DJDprod.5828 never preorder an ea game. With activision you can be sure you will have something playable , with ea you risk having to deal with an anthem.
@@PanosPitsi i always forget that anthem was a thing. god it's like these games are made by people incapable of knowing when a game is ready for release. I guess it really shows you how unprofessional those companies can actually be.
@@CrisURace I have never preordered one but ea games are the ones nobody should preorder x100. I buy cod every year but I still wait for the release, they won’t run out of copies 😂
Many former DICE members are gone long ago. These developers nowadays do the best they can but there’s always a person above them who make the stupid decisions which affects the core of the game and you can see that inconsistency.
Love the recognition that BF1 is getting thanks to the disasters that are BFV and BF2042. Aside from the more casual gunplay, which I really didn't mind so much, that game was the most polished competitive FPS I played in years. It even managed to be immersive in a multiplayer setting thanks to excellent music, voice-acting and uniform designs. Muse on that.
It really was a fun game, I never understood the hate for it. It was destructive, had some weather changes mid game. Game was the statement of battlefield sandbox.
DUDE BF1 was one of my favorites. Their ambient sounds and atmosphere … It was the most atmospheric FPS I’ve ever played, with the war stereo on and 7.1 it felt like you were really in the shit
Tbh BF5 have the smoothest gun play and movement mechanics ever created, and if you cant see it i feel sorry for you and i dont understand what games you play then. Hope its not Warzone.
@@ashketchum3441 I actually agree with you that BFV seems to have damn good gunplay and movement, but I'm more or less retired from competitive FPS at that point and I didn't play it, so I can't really judge something I didn't experience for myself. I can't say for Warzone either, but there's a reason why it's one of the most successful FPS right now. The gunplay, sound design, and animations look great.
I think you just hit the nail on the head for all of the OG Battlefield players and said what we've all been saying in a much more eloquent profanity-free manner. Big props.
We 'og' players do have build tolerance for launch like this. But I think this title will be Dice Do-or-dont. Hopes are still up but not for long if this one gets cut off like bf5...
Fully agree. I feel like I don’t have a game to play any more. I want my gritty, disgusting, verbally improper battlefield back. I don’t play Fortnite or Apex for a reason.
Yeah way too big and open. Try to get to an objective requires miles of running across no man’s land to be prey to all the snipers or vehicles to intercept you. You basically have to run an svk at all times to have the most adaptability.
DICE needs to reevaluate their map designs and go back to Battlefield 3.. every single map on that game was a masterpiece and had good flow from most game modes primarily conquest/rush. And I’m not exaggerating, Damavand peak, Noshar canals, Operation metro, Grand Bazaar, Sein crossing, strike at karkand, these maps were simple yet complex in its gameplay. In bf 2042 most of these maps have 128 players with a big map just feels like a free for all battle royal with specialist.
My friends were getting so hyped for 2042 that I had to be the voice of reason. We all know what EA's reputation is. "It's EA guys. Don't preorder. Wait till its out." "No, it looks great!" "Just, wait. It's EA." Lo and fucken behold...
I returned it twice. Wasn't planning to buy it to try it out, but apparently they also couldn't get the "Free trial" on game pass to work either, so I just bought it and returned it as needed.
The biggest ruse EA used for 2042 was how many different studios were working on the game. It was like a "there is no way they can mess this up now". I truly feel like if EA just let DICE create the game with no interference, we would have the game we wanted, but too many EA big wigs and analysts are controlling the direction of this game. It's just sad more than anything.
The problem I think is that most of the OG devs have left, now we have people trying to copy what they did. The Head Of Design of BF 2042 worked on Candy Crush Saga (studio game design director) before he joined DICE in 2019.
They didn't do beta testing, they did beta advertising. The reason the beta period was so short is because they knew it was wicked bad, they just wanted to give a small taste to get people talking
I did think about cancelling my pre order for this game and I'm pretty pissed of at myself for not doing so. Almost every aspect of 2042 has been done better in previous games it's ridiculous that broken games being released is almost standard practise nowadays.
Even if the game ran flawlessly it still is horrible, the maps are just flat sand boxes with random empty objects placed around. Not to mention the extremely limited guns and equipment that all feel the same. I feel like I'm playing epic battle simulator in first person.
8:53-9:44 did anyone noticed this beautiful smoth transition? he dies and level caps starts talking about the bf3 memories, then when the synapse stops it does back to him getting revived
I don't think this baking any longer would have helped the overall health of the game. The release may have been less buggy but the map design, balancing, and core gameplay would probably still have been bad
I've played battlefield since bf3. Was really excited for a new modern battlefield. I can't express how disappointed I am with this game. It really feels like they were just trying to poorly imitate a lot of features from CoD... like specialists and warzone. The performance issues from the Beta made it borderline unplayable on my pc, the fact that people with ultra rigs are still complaining about performance has made this a straight no go for me. I can play bf5 just fine on mid to low graphics.
I bought the game as soon as it came out, all I can say is that I was so frustrated with it that I went back to Bf1 and I know a lot more people have done it!
Funny, having played BF3, BF4, BF1, and BFV, BF1 bored me quickest. I loved BF3 and 4, and I enjoyed V until they broke the game and took a Christmas vacation. I never played it again after that. Haven't bought 2042 yet. Not sure if I will.
I love BF1 and still play it frequently. I had hoped BF5 was going to be similar game play, but ported to a WW2 scenario, but no. Now, we have the 2042 disaster. Just run and gun with crappy maps and bugs galore.
As far as I’m concerned, this is it for me when it comes to battlefield titles. This disappointed of a game shows that EA’s ultimate goal is to rush out unfinished heaps of shit because people for whatever reason keep buying them. First step in holding EA accountable is to vote with your wallet, aka, quit preordering this shit, ffs.
Agree 100%, the lack of TDM is a deal breaker for me and conquest seems like death fest that you die all the time with little progress. So many missing features it's insane! I'm tired of the community being split up with every new release.
I can't believe they don't even have rush. Rush and conquest are THE battlefield game modes and they don't even have one of them! They seriously should've waited to release this game. Having bugs is one thing, but having only a handful of game modes is stupid.
@@autofigure00 or domination, always a favorite for me. I hate how open a lot of the maps are. I can't tell you how many times I spawned into the middle of a street or field and got snipped, run over or missiled within 5 to 10 seconds...
@2freeIvX Conquest small and TDM via portal server browser to these new maps? Missed that if thats true. tho Portal has been quite meshed up with xp or weapon unlocks .. Better interface would sure help to find the modes with settings you want. Rush to these new maps would be huge thumbs up
what baffles me is that they didn't decide to use the BFV engine as a baseline for everything they could've done for 2042. All the mechanics were there in BFV and the game would have been in a much better state if they had used the engine.
@@TerbrugZondolop It is the same engine, just updated. They've used the Frostbite framework with significant updates from the very beginning of the franchise. First thing that comes to my mind when you think why would they rewrite the engine and not just use the same version as the previous game would be technical limitations. 128 players and dynamic weather features like tornados bring huge changes to the way engine assets are used. Still, can't believe how badly they fucked up the fundamentals and the base design of the game with all of the resources avalible to them from the previous games in the franchise and all the feedback. Game has maaaaany issues, but I don't really feel like the fact they developed a next entry to the Frostbite engine is a big factor here.
10:00 I've got to say something about that. It's clear alot of the developers have had zero passion on this game being a Battlefield experience. Many of them congratulated each other for "finishing" this game and the development team themselves blatantly lied to us calling this game a "love letter" although I can kinda see how Portal is that letter. Still we should also put higher up developers accountable too, not just EA. In the end the higher ups at DICE have decided to change and remove core battlefield features like scoreboard and classes.
It doesn’t work like that. Those ‘higher ups at Dice’ you refer to don’t just get to choose what to do. Of course they also have EA having to monetize the game breathing down their neck.
I don’t think the developers are to blame for anything. It was dictated to them what kind of game to make by people in management positions at DICE and likely EA as well. It’s there job to make what they are told to make and just do their best.
@15:42 'even if it's financially not the most profitable way to move forward as a company, why not support your old game to build hype and confidence ... ' I think you answered your own rhetorical question right there. DICE is publicly traded, as is EA.
It's incredible how a studio can, after two entry's with so much feedback, still completely race away from sucess, with strange decisions no one asked for, but having the gameplay absolutely nailed to the point (bugs aside)
I honestly dont care so mutch about the bugs, because they will be ironed out. My problem is the stupidity of specialists, and how it changes the core BF experience. This game does not feel like a Battlefield game, rather more like a COD experience. I am surprised that you Levelcap among other longtime (TH-camrs) Battlefield-players dont speak out about this. Specialists is the opposite of team-Play and thereby the BF-experience. I have been playing this game since BF2 launch, and i am out from this franchise. It is cringe, soulless and something i will not be a part of any longer. The last good Battlefield experience was and is BF4 for me. All #Dice #EA had to do was remaster BF 3, and volia! The 10 people in my clan, not one person play Battlefield anymore, because the BF experience is gone. I tried to like BF5 and 2042, but the experience is just not there… This franchise have always been about fraction war, where you could tell friend from foe because of iniforms. And now we have some stupid-looking individuals. Tank gameplay, chooper and jet feels off +++ Just my 2 cents…
Fair point, but there's no 't' in much. Also I think bf3 remaster would have been cool. Or both bf3/4 maps remastered on the modern engine. I agree, nobody except the accountants wanted specialists
You can still team play dude, when I play I bring the ammo and my buddy brings the meds, or we'll fly a heli together or drive a tank. The team play element was never there with randoms that you didn't communicate with in past games either they were always running around like headless chooks and the support guy never dropped ammo when you needed it. The specialist system doesn't change any of that.
@@AdimasCrow Maybe that was the case at launch for many of the larger battlefield games, but that wasn't really the case a year after launch. You'd still have a few of those mindless players, but most people would at least have basic cooperation and communication, because there was a system there for it. Now that the class system has basically been gutted, that system won't be there, so it's likely that it won't have the same level of teamplay anymore even a bit after launch. And if lack of teamplay was an issue, which it both was and is, the solution is to make attempts to address it, not to double down on it and justify it that way. It used to be that teamplay could exist between randoms; I had that happen a lot back when I played BF3/4 a lot. Now though, I'm not so sure.
If anything because of player count and specialist abilities, team play feels like even more of a thing. Team play doesn't just mean everyone in the squad has a different class.
@@anselmojones4392 exactly I had a long conversation with my squad about this before they got kicked back in gear. Team play has nothing to do with the specialists being added it’s ultimately up to the people to be a team player I play Engineer/Anti Vehicle in every BF game I play and nothing has changed here now I just have a wing suit and C4 to drop in for stealth kills on vehicles. I do wish I could carry more than one gadget though either that or Sundance’s Anti Armor grenades need to be buffed
You're absolutely right about losing players due to bad impressions. I'm a veteran from BF3 and 4, but I didn't buy BF5 due to waiting to see how it went and due to all the problems I never bought it. I've done the same with 2042 and so far It's looking very doubtful I'll get it. That is incredibly disheartening to me because I was very hyped for this game and to get back into modern combat.
Exactly the same here :/ kinda feel let down and disappointed .. I was inbetween buying battlefield 2042 and Riders Republic And I bought RR instead .. only because of how buggy BF2042 is rn smh just waiting till all the buggs are cleared for me to buy it ..
You’re right. I did buy 2042, and I AM enjoying it, however it’s a buggy mess and needs a ton of work. Also I went back and played battlefield 4 yesterday and gotta say, it’s much much better than 2042 in many ways
How are you a veteran of bf3 and bf4 and expect a battlefield game to not be buggy. Also what is that mentality Im either buying day1 or not at all, thats what screwed this franchise you cant be patient and wait 6 months until the game is actually finished. If we wait until the game is good to throw money at it maybe EA will get a clue but no gotta preorder and excpect it to be smooth as butter day 1 and start crying about how much better bf4 was when bf4 was 100 times worst at launch then bf2042 but i guess im not a veteran and i havent bought the game (yet)
The problems in the development of the Battlefield series isn't the devs, or the community, it's the greed of the shareholders !! And that's true for a lot of today's games, that's the reason why we have atrocious launches, Cyberpunk is the perfect example of that, and so is Battlefield 2042. Because the dev team have the skills, and the people to make a great game. But if you are pressured to launch a new game every 1 or 2 years with all the additional content along the way that's a lot of work for those devs.
I heard the shareholders didn't pressure Cyberpunk to be released when it did. But yes these shareholders don't even play some of the games they essentially back. I'm not saying they have to but some knowledge of the product is appreciated. Reminds me of AC: Unity that shareholders apparently insisted it be released but it just didn't work out initially.
Sometimes you just have to give your thoughts, I'm honestly glad I didn't spend money on this one. From what I can tell, Battlefield 2042's launch has been nothing short of a disgrace.
I downloaded the beta only to uninstall it 3 days before I could play it because I could already see from the gameplay on TH-cam that this game was not good.
What levelcap says about Bug tolerance of older gamers is true. But facing similar bugs year after year is just weird. And the time DICE takes to fix pretty simple issues...
Agreed, I can tolerate bugs to an extent (shit I play EFT daily so I experience them all the time) but at this point buggy releases are like a staple part of the franchise, and for a triple A game its getting unacceptable to charge up to $120 for this. After BF4 I've never purchased a BF game on launch and completely skipped V, I tried the trial for 2042 and found it in a state that I don't believe is worth my time and money. The fact that people just accept it in a "it is what it is" manner just goes to show how low standards people have as consumers now.
Vote with your wallet. People continuously reward these companies mal-practices by pre-ordering and buying day 1 releases. This will NEVER change until you hurt their bottom line and force the issue.
I agree with this 100%, but the unfortunate part is that this more so hurts the individual studio rather than the publishing giant so DICE/ripple effect would get hit the worst b/c EA will always make money & get their cut first off the top - plus they have multiple games under their umbrella that rakes in money (FIFA & Apex for example) so in essence it keeps them in the black that's why I always encourage gamers to get into the actual money/investing side of the spectrum & you'll understand how these sorry companies move lol
BF3 still looks and feels better. The bugs BF3 were no where near as bad as this game. Also BF3 still felt like a complete package right from the start.
I really don't understand what about this is so difficult for a coorperation to understand. Essentially a battlefield 3 reskin with modern graphics would have sold like hotcakes. and would have been a hella lot simpler to make.
I honestly think 3 and 4 were pretty terrible in terms of performance. Mainly because it took half a year for 3 to get in decent state and a whole year for 4 to make it playable. While 3 had a whole package, it still wasn't the best in terms of performance and bugs in the beginning. Even another year of patches and fixed from the CTE to get BF4 where it is at now. I remember vividly that they had to upgrade the servers according to dev during the CTE to resolve the rubber banding issues that plagued the game for over one and half years.
@@pilot.sergio4 While that is true, I feel like the bugs are not really the main issue here. BF 3 & 4 were still being played a lot despite the bugs, because the game design was (and still is) brilliant. As has been said, it would have been so much "easier" to take the pillars that made those games good (dedicated servers, basic classes, well designed maps, various game mods, etc.) and update the to them current state of the art without changing the heart and soul of what made them great... sad to see
I remember when I first got my hands on BF3 after my mum bought for me on Christmas. Anyone still remember the Saiga 12K with explosive ammo? That thing broke the meta for months. You could literally kill someone shooting the wall next to them twice. That shit was ridiculous.
I am with you man I am fucking sick of this shit man. I have not fallen in love with a multiplayer experience since bf3 and before that metal solid 4 online, games made well over 8-10 years so it is sickening that it is almost impossible to see a well polished AAA title and I am losing hope for future gaming ....
This is the first time i've ever put down a game that i bought a week before, I can go on for an hour about everything i don't like, but most importantly it's never fun for me. But the stuff that needs changing are core design choices, and would probably be easier to make a whole new game.
´Twas the same with Cyberpunk for me. Got it relativly soon after release, tried it, dropped it. Haven´t played it in months. Has anyone but me noticed how many actually GOOD games you can get for free, btw? Old, yes, but good. Or bundled in funny, humble packages? They manage to do something that a lot of modern titles didn´t manage: They make me have fun playing. I know what i am about to get with them, they don´t cost an arm and a kidney and they are just good fun. These days not getting angry with games you buy seems to be considered something positive already...
@@sefribu4159 yeah man I’ve noticed in the the past few years, I haven’t gotten good fun out of a game. Maybe it’s the atmosphere with everyone wanting to become a pro but it’s almost a chore gaming now
For me Battlefield lost all its appeal when they dropped Battlelog. ...and it just went downhill from there. Now they are releasing a game that can't deliver a constant 144FPS on a 12900K/RTX3090 at lowest details and 1080p, because 128 players is hammering the CPU so hard, during a world wide chip shortage, where only a lucky few are able to upgrade. I know i don't even need to try with my 7700K/GTX1080 ... But they are as Tonedeaf on that topic as they are with every core design decision they've made. At this point i'm pretty sure i'm never going to bother with this one at all, i skipped the last 2 Battlefields, what is one more.
@@sefribu4159 Exactly. I've been having so much fun with Farming Simulator 2022 since release. I didn't remember not getting angry at a video game. Although FS22 also came out with a few, in my opinion, big bad bugs, but it's only bugs in this case. :)
If this is the last game I will say in complete confidence EA did not kill Battlefield the community did we all just need to calm down and take a step back before we cause EA to ruin it for everybody and drop Battlefield. We have all become spoiled and seemingly forgot that this isn’t some game we are gonna play through once and forget this is Battlefield they always get better with time.

"But BF3 and BF4 came out all buggy and bad" And yet with much more content than this game, and feeling like an actual Battlefield game. Not to mention that they fixed the games after some time, and both games are still great (idk if BF3 is still playable, but BF4 is definitely still with full servers). Idk, the specialist system killed it for me; again, it would be a good idea for the battle royale mode BF2042 has, but for default multiplayer they should have stuck to the classes. Leave the experimentation for the side dish, and the main course the way we're used to.
TH-camrs like and jackfrags are to blame for the downfall of this franchise. For the last 10 years you guys have been in EA payroll just to say beautiful things about it before the launch of the games. You guys are disgrace
Theres a ton of features and details missing. They sucked ppl in with the graphics, player count and scale and left out the the things that made this franchise great. It's just weird man. But off more than they could chew
@@slappzzz what graphics?? This is the shittiest looking bf title created. There's cardboard like building and shit. Hell the menu lobby you can see how shitty the graphics are behind you..
@@slappzzz The graphics are shite. BF4 looks amazing and it is 8 years old! Developers and publishers need to stop seeing new powerful hardware as an opportunity to expand the scope of their games. It makes games a mile wide but an inch deep. Why not make small/mid-sized games but then use the new hardware to compound increased detail? Imagine if DICE used BF3/4 as the blueprint, created a game with an identity, kept it simple and then vastly increased the detail within the game...?
Halo Infinite did everything right with launch and is just downright fun and find myself choosing to play Infinite more than Battlefield. I really wish they hadn't killed Battlefield V so soon, that game had a lot of life left!
Ikr the Pacific update was amazing,I thought they had turned a corner. Then they pulled the plug, it's a big slap in the face after putting up with a buggy game for over a year
There has been a massive resurgence in BF4 player base thanks to the failure that has been 2042. Considering how since BF3, 10 years ago, Dice & EA got only one launch right, I think it's fair to say they were lucky. The launch of Battlefront 2 also comes to mind, another EA published franchise, that clearly was launched to hit the holiday season and that was world famous for being a dumpster fire. FIFA is another series that everyone knows it's just a copy paste title released every year. We all know EA is just trying to scam everyone yet we all keep coming back year after year to buy their polished turds.
My biggest issues are the breakthrough objectives which can become impossible to take. With enemy 64 players guarding one skyscraper. Then the general match making feels that you are kicked right back out after a game finishes and sometimes join the next match mid game. It should seamlessly transfer you into the start of the next game. I find customising the loadouts and weapon attachments pretty confusing. I am starting to lose interests a few weeks in whereas the polished battlefield 4 and 1 games can keep you entertained for weeks on end.
I played the game once and it felt shitty and was boring so I put it down and haven’t played since, would’ve refunded it if it wasn’t for PlayStations bullshit refund policy
Bugs are not the main issue. Every game has bugs. The problem is a clearly unfinished game with elements that nobody asked for. The whole specialist system was not what the fan base was expecting, the UI of the game is one of the worst UI I ever saw on any fps. Removing things like server browser, scoreboard, class system and less destruction. This killed the game . They tried to make the game a new COD and failed miserably. Maybe over a year they will fix this. But they will probably give up and move to a new title. And this is sad for all battlefield fans
Nailed it exactly. Bugs are expected honestly. It's the core of 2042 that's the issue. I booted up BF4 yesterday and there were just so so many basic QoL things that should've been in 2042.
Honestly, I hope they don't support this game for years. I want them to make a new one that actually has the fundamentals and bones of a BF game, and the sooner the better. I don't care about bugs, honestly, they don't really bother me if the underlying game feels worth playing. This one doesn't to me. I've played every BF (1942 was the second video game I ever bought) and this simply isn't it. There are no classes. There is no server browser (I still haven't played breakaway, and I've only played discarded once). There are so few weapons it's insane. The maps are huge but totally empty, I spend more time running than anything: by the time a game is over I'm lucky if I've had a third of the engagements, let alone kills of a previous BF game all this in spite of the fact there are twice as many players. The operators are terrible. They look silly, they feel silly, and they take away from the classic feel of the game. This is, by far, the most disappointing BF game I have ever played, because even with 3 and 4 and their rough launches, at least they felt like battlefield that just needed to be ironed out. This doesn't even feel like BF at all to me.
well put pretty much my thoughts on it It's really questionable if 2042 even has a solid foundation to build upon and even if worth building upon in the first place. Game overal just feels like bad joke
Exactly how I feel. No amount of ‘patches’ will make this game feel good or worth playing because the core mechanics are so bad. I can’t stand the maps, they feel as if they were supposed to be used for a battle royale game that they scrapped or something and just used what was left for MP maps on 2042. I play on a Series X next gen console and the movement and gun play feels better on Battlefield 4… I don’t know who needs to hear it but I’d rather 64 players in 120fps than 128 in 60fps. I feel like I’ve gone back in time. I won’t even touch on the specialists, all I’ll say is they’re incredibly corny and have no place in a BF game.
I can’t get over how poor the graphics, design details are in the design! It’s like playing a 10 year old PlayStation game! I’ve been playing BF for 20 years and the is the worst BF I’ve ever played. I guess the fired all their old designers!
I have been playing Battlefield just as long as you, but i'm done for now. This type of market to maximize profits is pathetic, and i won't purchase a game that is produced this badly. Great video!
Same here. I am disgusted. I have invested a lot of time. And honestly i dobt have much fun and my stats are pathetic. Never had such bad performance. Re installed bf1 and bfv. And cod.
And that's the best thing that u can do... I did the mistake and gave this game a chance... worst 70bucks I have ever spent for a game and I ve bought cold war 😂
I love battlefield and I was so ecstatic for 2042, but I'm happy I waited because if I had gotten it at launch I'd have stopped playing it already and gone back to bf4
I got the 10 hour trial version from the game pass, played 2 hours and uninstalled, I could keep myself together woth the women in bfv but the specialists are on another level of cringe
The worst thing isn’t even the bugs, it’s the fact the game simply isn’t fun. Empty maps, forced spawns, 5 minute treks at the start of the match, terrible ui, 128 players too many I could go on……….
Honestly, I’ve personally enjoyed every battlefield at release up to this one. It’s very clear however that the publishing timelines and capabilities/resources of the development team are just not adequate anymore. 2042 feels like a first draft of a game with significant fundamental issues. I personally am hoping for a serious publisher with some level of commitment to quality to enter the “large scale, infrantry-vehicle warfare” warfare genre and wipe BF out. I played a yet to be release alpha from another triple A studio earlier in the year - the level of quality in that alpha was far higher than the launch of BF2042. Its so disappointing as a battlefield fan.
As a long time fan of the series, starting with 1942 and getting into it for real with BF2 I can confidently say that I'm done with Dice. The fact that they cant seem to get launches right and seemingly don't learn from past mistakes is just baffling to me. I'm just so done.
Same but Hardline was the game that made me not play BF...I doubt I would see a new classic modern BF in my lifetime...I could remember my first BF, Battlefield Play4Free, absolute fun time and then 3/4 got me really hooked, but then came the worst BF yet, Hardline followed by V and 1(I don't like games set in WW2/1)...the franchise was never the same...fortunately Bf4 servers still up tho
@@liquidrufus Where are they going to go and do you really think EA's lawyers wouldn't crush them? Maybe if 2042 fails and EA is over the BF franchise they might not care, but then again Star Wars franchise...
Been playing since BF1942 and I have to say I’m honestly super disappointed with 2042. It feels like there’s no real structure to the game, it’s practically unplayable on old gen consoles, and with the new gens being swept up by bots and resold for a ridiculous price it’s impossible to even get a new gen experience of the game. They put way too much into making the game look cool and little to no effort into performance and basic mechanics. I haven’t been able to play more than 2 consecutive games without getting frustrated. I’m constantly having to run 5 minutes straight just to be killed in a wide open field. I also feel the menu and general UI is clunky and confusing. The specialist is what’s really killing me though, having them shout the same lines over and over and OVER seriously diminishes my will to even keep hitting the respawn button every time I die. Needles to say, I’m not having a good experience playing the game and I pre ordered it because of the hype I got from the trailers. I’ve maybe played a total of 10 games so far hoping I was just having a bad game but the negative feel of 2042 persists across all maps and modes. Super upset this is how 2042 is going and I probably won’t be playing again for a while while I wait for them to either fix it, or release a new game all together. That’s if they even have a big enough player base to make a new game after this one.

I was truly excited for this game. Having a near-future BF sounded amazing. But after the beta, and playing the game through EA Play, I must say I'm pretty disappointed. I personally hate the specialists. They do not fit at all, and clones of operators everywhere is so wierd. If they want to add specialist abilities, they should not have specific characters for them imo. Also, the UI looks so wierd and annoying from the notification bars on the top of the screen, to the wierd leaderboards. The maps look stunning, but they are too big imo. Also, the lack of guns and attachments is so unlike BF. So far it kind of feels like a direct competitor to Warzone.
Bf1 was the only "normal" release they did in the last decade. Multiple pre release tests to gather data and improve. And that's a fact. What pains me the most is that they abandon support for 2 good games (BfV and Battlefront 2) to work on this crap.
they added a whole extra year and a bit to develop this game and still dropped the ball. they almost would have been better off doing a BF3/4 remaster.
Battlefield 1 Operations will probably be the most fun I'll ever have in a battlefield game. It's a shame I doubt they'll ever surpass that experience, for me at least.
Operations. Not grand operations. The player count being 20 v 20 played way better than the clusterfuck 32 v 32. Now just imagine 64 v 64 in breakthrough. There really are no (successful) flanks and you feel like your efforts mean nothing, if you don't have the whole squad working with you. And let's be real, strangers do not work together.
@Sterling Archer it was ok, but I felt 20 v 20 was way more tactical and gave the attackers a better chance at capping and pushing forward. More players just meant more flanks guarded and less I could do as a lone wolf. Obviously, I know it's not a lone wolf game with more players, but felt a lot better with 20 v 20. Instead of just hoping to outgun the defenders and simply push forward by overpowering them in a straight line, you could get behind their first line of defense more frequently.
@@MattPawlowski I really enjoyed 32v32, but I totally agree with you. Back when 20v20 was an option I always choose that if I was playing solo. Plus, the Selby 1906 was one of my favorite weapons. Found kills to be so satisfying with it and I performed well 20v20. Hardly used it once 20v20 was removed though as it just isn't viable in 32v32.
What? Rockstar has not fallen at all. They weren’t even the ones who made the remaster that I’m assuming you’re basing your comment off. The last game rockstar actually made is widely regarded as one of the best of all time (RDR2). Very uniformed and misplaced take here bro.

I think my biggest problem with 2042 is that most of the time, I just can't be bothered with it. I've been playing since 1942 and in this latest effort basic stuff doesn't exist, basic navigation of the menus/UI is painful and slow (remember when this sort of thing was targeted at pc first?), and the core multiplayer experience is just dull - either spawn in the middle of nowhere and spend the next 5 minutes running to the action, or spawn in the middle of the action and be dead seconds later because everyone is in the same spot and that's to say nothing of the bugs and issues. Honestly, if I hadn't already passed the 2 hour window on Steam, I'd probably have already refunded it.
I started in bad company 2 and have put a pretty good amount of time in each entry since except battlefield 5.. My old hometown friends and I used to squad up for hours on end every night in battlefield 3 and 4. We all reconnected when the trailers for this game released for the first time in 5+ years, and seeing this as the next “true” battlefield game I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for a game in my adult life. The games been out for a bit and I must say I have been enjoying myself, squadding up with some good mates is about as fun as it gets in gaming for me, and this game definitely provides that experience. The thing that bothers me the most is just how committed to these dumb ass features dice is.. like the specialist thing: through development they repeatedly doubled down saying it’s the future of battlefield or whatever so I was like fine we will see.. beta comes and goes and Literally everyone is like ok specialists are cringey as fuck and could legitimately be replaced by a special gadget slot but dice has chosen this hill and they will die on it I guess I don’t give a fuck about hazard zone or specialists or any of that shit, I just want a banger battlefield game man. Like there is 22 guns in the main game dude wtf.. why put all this time and effort into all this extra shit that the community has expressed repeatedly and overwhelmingly that they don’t like and don’t want.. especially seemingly at the expense of content in the actual new battlefield game we buying for. Idk im still gonna sink 1000+ hours in this game of course so I have plenty of time to scream into the void. 0/10 pretty fun game
Battlefield 2077?
your not wrong lol
except 2077 is okay now and it's single player so people can play it years later if they want. BF2042 is not going to have any players so nobody will be playing in a few years
Or battlefield 2076?
They won’t survive for the BF 2077 if they don’t fix this game.EA is going to swing the 🪓 soon and heads will roll.
So original, cringey, try harder
I think the cringey one-liners the specialists keep endlessly repeating at the start and end of every match is what is truly killing the game. Everytime i stop playing, it's this that tips me over the edge to quit out.
I do not like it. Can't see myself playing as many hours on this BF than the others. Not even close.
I agree with you guys as well. It also makes me wonder what neebs gaming is gonna do with their battlefield friends shows. Hopefully the shows would convince the devs and higher ups to stay with the game and not abandon it like they did with bfV

Agreed bro Damm, it sucks because I absolutely loved those times of Battlefield 3, had so much fun, made some friends, just was amazing all around, I kind of got a similar feeling with modern warfare 2019 but nothing like BF3...
In your review you should call out all the "Games Journalists" giving this game 8s, 9s and EGM even gave BF2042 a perfect score.
It seems they base their reviews off trailers. Always look at the user score.

@@shidelerdantheogre8487 For political reasons? wtf does that mean exactly?
Yup.
@@jessejohnson1557 i thought i was the only one who couldn’t hit anything on 2042 then hop old battlefields and get first place lol

@@TheLeadZombie wow great addition to the conversation!!!! You really changed his mind!
@@TheLeadZombie bad bait
And BF4 was the last one I purchased at release. All the subsequent ones I bought a year after release.
Gaming is doomed
Yeah there's like 6 guns max in 2042, the fuck did they spend all this time on. It's not like the levels are amazing either.

@@mitchplease8880 sounds like you need to get IL2 and DCS modules then
The main problems with 2042 are structural, not bugs/performance.
Literally they could have remastered BF4 and it would have been gold. Instead they care more about shitty seasons and money. They want to be COD.

Rant over.
I fully agree, hence I've been holding off on buying the game even though I'm itching to play it so badly

Yes those launches were bad, buggy and annoying, but the underlying games were still good. The content was solid and the gameplay was fun.
Bf2042s content is abysmal and the gameplay just isn't fun. Specialists were THE worst idea they ever had and I for one will probably never touch another BF game.

No, it's just that we are used to Battlefield being kinda crap on launch. Every BF game since BF3 had a bad launch with a lot of bugs that made a lot of controversy so it's nothing new to us. No one is saying that it's ok.

Man, I don't even have the patience for it anymore. Bunch of brainless people made a game ~ Battlefield 2042.
For me Battlefiled was always about the immersive "All out war" feeling with tanks speeding down the landscape while choppers doing crazy soldier drop offs on roofs :D
Or in terms of BF1 and BF5 capturing the atmosphere of a battlefield.

About community the BF4 clan option and easier squad system was so dope. idk why it had to be removed.

BF Hardline's launch was also fairly smooth right? Which I suppose makes sense as it was a relative port from BF4 with a different theme.
I couldn’t agree more
To me it’s what map I hate less and I’ve been playing on the same 3 maps over and over!!!
Yeah honestly the worst game maps I've ever seen in any game.
Me too brother
And i played every onr except the lasy 1. This game is awesome. People hate the chaos..... get better.
Yup. I completely skipped this Battlefield. Something I didn't think I'd ever do
I'm in much the same spot mate, played 1000s of hours of Battlefield since BF2 and this is the first one I've skipped.
I’m in the same exact boat as you, having owned every battlefield minus Hardline, BFV, and BF2042
This
Put the specialist in 1 of the 4 classes as a sub class add more flags or shrink the maps on next gen add a server browser add rush mode add more maps to portal add more guns also half of what I said needs to be done asap
Thank you so much for saying this
Completely agree
Nailed it!
I honestly miss battlefield 3. My favorite game, I’d love to see that game remade rather than 2042
Agreed
that and BFBC2
A BF3/BF4 remake as a single complete game would be the sweet spot.
id rather not have EA/Dice touch any "battlefield remakes" untill they sort out their shit and their priorities. they're just going to find a way to ruin it
Just like how they ruined star wars battlefront. completley fine with not having a bf release for the next few years if they can sort their shit out.
The updated graphics from BF2042 portal proved to me that they knew they could've remastered their games, and intentionally chose not to
EA's problem is that they're forcing competition with CoD when most people are either hard stuck with one or the other or play both anyway.
They force the game out early to compete with CoD and the game releases unfinished.
Not to mention they force mechanics like the specialists just because hero shooters are popular, regardless of if it fits with BF or not.
exactly they forced cod competition but then lost to cod even with specialists…
they forget BF caters to a special niche. making the game like COD will just alienate those who prefer BF and those who play BF for a different experience
@@falaflani4831 game looks trash just like new cod. I still play bad company 2 which is goated and caters to a select niche of players and it was back when bf was bf.
I can't believe they're trying to compete with CoD, Activision is already on fire rn with the lawsuits and literally no one cared about Vanguard.
Would be easy fix with gamemodes. Something similar what we had at BF 3 & 4. Modes like: Conquest small / Rush (with player limit) / TDM.
This is my biggest grief with the game. There isn't even enough cover for 128 players
@@chriscalliss5999 there are in certain areas of the maps but ya sometimes you just spawn out in the open with 0 cover and 10 guys murder you 😂 I get what your saying man
Couldn’t agree more. Why have they gone for this is beyond me. It’s basically for tanks and planes. Even bf1 looks better than this.
This among the class system is the reason i`m not buying the game. i have almost 2000 hours in battlefield 4.

Dice is no longer the AAA studio we have known. Very unfortunate.
Many former DICE members are gone long ago. These developers nowadays do the best they can but there’s always a person above them who make the stupid decisions which affects the core of the game and you can see that inconsistency.
After this shit I doubt they're a AAA mobile developer. This game is a fucking disaster.
A- at best
Love the recognition that BF1 is getting thanks to the disasters that are BFV and BF2042. Aside from the more casual gunplay, which I really didn't mind so much, that game was the most polished competitive FPS I played in years. It even managed to be immersive in a multiplayer setting thanks to excellent music, voice-acting and uniform designs. Muse on that.
It really was a fun game, I never understood the hate for it. It was destructive, had some weather changes mid game. Game was the statement of battlefield sandbox.
DUDE BF1 was one of my favorites. Their ambient sounds and atmosphere …
It was the most atmospheric FPS I’ve ever played, with the war stereo on and 7.1 it felt like you were really in the shit

Yeah way too many large open areas which just creates a sniping/vehicle paradise. Too bad if you want to/have to try and capture points on foot.
And then out of nowhere a tank on a skyscraper snipes you from 300 meters away.
The problem I think is that most of the OG devs have left, now we have people trying to copy what they did. The Head Of Design of BF 2042 worked on Candy Crush Saga (studio game design director) before he joined DICE in 2019.
Battlefield 1 was the pinnacle of Dice as the RDR2 for R* and the Witcher 3 for CD project red and now we are seeing they're downfall
They didn't do beta testing, they did beta advertising. The reason the beta period was so short is because they knew it was wicked bad, they just wanted to give a small taste to get people talking

I most definitely have
BF1 is a masterpiece and if 2042 is gonna be saved at all, they need to add BF1 content to portal and add portal progression
This was me with 5 but I went back to 4
As far as I’m concerned, this is it for me when it comes to battlefield titles.
Having bugs is one thing, but having only a handful of game modes is stupid.

what baffles me is that they didn't decide to use the BFV engine as a baseline for everything they could've done for 2042. All the mechanics were there in BFV and the game would have been in a much better state if they had used the engine.
Very good point. Completely pointles!!!
All of this they had. Why the new engine and mechanics. Bf1 and V had a stable engine and mechs. Leave it ffs.
Geez I wonder why they didn’t use BFV has a baseline????????????

I've got to say something about that.
Dice has been infiltrated by employees that seek to change the core of the battlefield franchise. The original battlefield devs are all but gone now.
I think you answered your own rhetorical question right there. DICE is publicly traded, as is EA.
It's incredible how a studio can, after two entry's with so much feedback, still completely race away from sucess, with strange decisions no one asked for, but having the gameplay absolutely nailed to the point (bugs aside)

Huh.
Tank gameplay, chooper and jet feels off +++
Just my 2 cents…
Dice needs to leave ea
Why should Dice leave EA. Most of the OG Developers arent even in that studio anymore.

Battlefield 1 is still the best looking battlefield game.
True
Sometimes you just have to give your thoughts, I'm honestly glad I didn't spend money on this one. From what I can tell, Battlefield 2042's launch has been nothing short of a disgrace.
I downloaded the beta only to uninstall it 3 days before I could play it because I could already see from the gameplay on TH-cam that this game was not good.
When i played bf1 i felt like a soldier part of an army in bf2042 i felt like a cod character in a free for all in a massive map
This will NEVER change until you hurt their bottom line and force the issue.
i didnt even have a choice. i tried to buy a ps5 again today. still cant get one. i'm not buying a game i cant even play.
I agree with this 100%, but the unfortunate part is that this more so hurts the individual studio rather than the publishing giant
so DICE/ripple effect would get hit the worst b/c EA will always make money & get their cut first off the top - plus they have multiple games under their umbrella that rakes in money (FIFA & Apex for example) so in essence it keeps them in the black
that's why I always encourage gamers to get into the actual money/investing side of the spectrum & you'll understand how these sorry companies move lol

BF3 still looks and feels better. The bugs BF3 were no where near as bad as this game. Also BF3 still felt like a complete package right from the start.
4 is really good to play now and has been for years. But it's launch was rough
3 and 4 both better
That shit was ridiculous.
miss those days man, times were simpler
Depending on where BF2042 is by the end of the year, this may be the last multi-player game I purchase.
I truly hope DICE gets their shit together.

@@Matthew-ut1hs the game looks so much like a mobile game I can't believe it, like why, and how, BF3 has nicer looking graphics than 2042

This doesn't even feel like BF at all to me.
well put
pretty much my thoughts on it
It's really questionable if 2042 even has a solid foundation to build upon and even if worth building upon in the first place.
Game overal just feels like bad joke
Battlefield I might be done with. Two mess ups in a row.
i couldnt have said it better
Yep, that's exactly how it is, and it's so damn sad.

Hardline is starting to look like a good entry the more Battlefields that come out :(
Wasn't THIS battlefield the one that would break the camel's back? RIP
Yea it broke it alright!
I've learned the lesson a long time ago. Let games launch, watch streams, read user reviews BEFORE buying any game.

DICE is done
Bf1 was the only "normal" release they did in the last decade. Multiple pre release tests to gather data and improve. And that's a fact. What pains me the most is that they abandon support for 2 good games (BfV and Battlefront 2) to work on this crap.
they added a whole extra year and a bit to develop this game and still dropped the ball. they almost would have been better off doing a BF3/4 remaster.
Battlefield 1 Operations will probably be the most fun I'll ever have in a battlefield game. It's a shame I doubt they'll ever surpass that experience, for me at least.
operations in bf1 were great. breakthrough is friggen amazing in 2042. some of the best battles ive ever had in battlefield.
