Very truthfull review. Finally somebody told the positive truth about the base engine. It is torque monster, sounds very good ( for sure not like Subaru). It is really great fun to drive. I have Cayman T MY2022. I was considering to change it for 911 992 Carrera but after the test drive I was so dissapointed . The Cayman T is more agile, the acceleration is on the pair with Carrera and 911 is more GT . No reason to change to 911.
thing is, no one has to pay that much. This is a press car, and Porsche loads them up notoriously, plus it's a special edition to add to the cost - and consists mostly of dubious cosmetic additions. Standard Boxster or Cayman with a few options is much less; not to mention a lightly used one.
When I ordered my Cayman GTS 4.0 I nearly specced the Chalk interior (with dark blue paint). It looks fantastic in your video! But I was concerned that it would be too hard to keep clean, deciding on Carmine Red over Cognac. And the precise 6 speed (with classic 6 cylinder wail) is the best choice for a weekend car.
who cares.. thats absolutely perfect! People need to stop being so addicted to damn screens especially when driving and even more especially while driving a car like this... give me bluetooth so i can listen to my music and thats it... this interior is perfect
@@Catchingcars no one’s addicted, just wait 10 years and you’ll wish it was updated when it’s not compatible with anything anymore. I don’t want the rev gauges to go away or the climate controls but to replace a CD player for 2 SD card slots come on. Plus because they don’t update it you can’t even get adaptive cruise control on a 100k car! every Subaru has it. Keep the dash layout the same just update the brain of it. Oh one thing they can they remove the speakers on the door and put it behind the driver and passenger in the middle (like a C8 vette or something) and use that space for normal cup holders people have been complaining about this for years already (but non of this matters if they are just getting rid of the gas engine and going electric, one thing is maybe make a SUV or big sedan EV but a dedicated sports car that only real enthusiasts buy (everyone else gets a 911 if they have money and wants a Porsche) will see how the sales go)
Lmao, if they don't go electric they won’t be able to sell a car past 2030. World regulations won’t let them sell gas guzzlers and Americans sure as hell aren’t buying Porsches over their dick riding Fords.
I’ve spent a few days driving a Boxter GTS 4.0 with a manual in this very same color and Sofyan is right; you do get a lot of attention. Also drove a Carrera S in this color too.
I've owned a couple of Porsches, a 911 and a 928S, back when they were sanely priced. $1800 US for adaptive cruise that my 21 yr old Mercedes has? Give me a break. All this shit should be included at the price these things are. Sure, charge extra for fancy trims, paint, wheels, power upgrades, etc, but basic options that come standard in a Kia these days? Nope. Porsche has turned me off.
Like you, bought 2 new Porsches back in early and late 90ies, then dropped the brand because of their options policy. Completely ridiculous. Took my $s to jaguar, amg, Maserati and never looked back. Add the dealers’ ridiculous markups on GT3s or GT4s and they’re completely out of reach….i was quoted $100,000 markup for the spider RS. I just said ‘no thank you’
The price given the performance level is kind of ridiculous. Okay it's a luxury sports car and it has the perfect driving dynamics of a Porsche. That doesn't change the fact that you can get many much cheaper, much faster cars that also have solid driving dynamics, nice interiors, and won't cost you an arm and a leg to maintain. I guess it depends on what a brand is worth to you.
Pretty much. You have to want to pay the Porsche tax to own that badge. It's really offputting because not every model is worth that tax. This 4 banger is really not worth it.
The Porsche 718 is a series of sports cars that includes the Cayman and Boxster models. They're known for their dynamic performance, precise handling, and iconic design.
I think it looks really good, the color is beautiful, but it would not be my choice if I was paying almost 6 figures…. And I would presume it to get much better fuel economy than 21/27 in the world world👌💯
Specs are correct as stated, but 0-60 per Porsche is 4.7 sec. Your slide notes 4.0 sec. Not sure who is more correct given factory usually underestimates 0-60 times.
I'm going to laugh at any idiots willing to pay this price just for the porsche badge on a 50k car. There's plenty of great sports car to choose from at this price point.
Better in what? Lotus design - childish, Lotus reliability - very bad, Lotus - crap interior . I just could not agree. Go and make a test drive both and then write :)

For $96K you may be able to find a conservatively configured & gently used GTS 4.0.
Preach it, brother. Love my base 718 Cayman manual (in a more sedate dark blue)
Awesome review. I own a 2017 Boxster S with PDK and love it...
$100,000 for 4cyl 300 hp you really have to love the brand. A C8 is 75,000 a V8 and 495 hp and cheaper parts and maintenance.

Idk how I feel about that hood stripe but otherwise a pretty nice spec!
Side note: Jag should really send you an f type or f pace svr
Good objective review of a great handling, lightweight, and fast sports car.
It is a shame these have gotten extremely expensive.

The key word with Porsche 'Optional'😂
I know these white wheels will be devilishly hard to keep clean.
ThunkLevel™️: “nice solid sounding”
If Porsche is listening don't go electric unless you want sales to tank
Sadly I don’t think they will tank as much as anticipated. Porsche snobs and Tech bros will buy the brand because it is the brand.
@@z-ro34 research taycan sales slump... Nuff said! 😂
They have to make the next cayman and boxter electric. Because of ( don't quote me) a breach were they can be hacked or something down that line. 😂

The interior has aged perfectly. Other than the smaller infotainment screen, which I don’t mind, the interim still looks almost new.

Buy a Kia
as an owner of a 2014 cayman, this looks like 90% of the same car, with a 4 cylinder turbo, and triple the price --- and yet I kinda want one lol
9:00 there's a protection tray I recommend and one for the frunk.
Buy three years later $55k
Was wondering why sofyan wad introducing the car verrryyyy long to realise he owned one...😂
It's gorgeous in that color!
It's better than black or white, but it's not a color I'd choose.
It is possible to access the engine at home. There are videos showing how
Is the sports active exhaust button an option to add or does it come standard now for when building a newer base 718?

Way too much $$$$$ Porsches are for rich people, great review though, your the best automotive reviewer out there. The Fiesta Flash
The German subbie
For some reason i always thought the 2L had a Golf engine
You’re thinking of the inline 4 cyl in the base Macan, VW sourced. The Cayman/Boxster can only fit a flat engine in the middle.
imperial system and metric system include both for easy reference and understanding. not all your viewers are from USA
I would pick a Supra over this
And have over $30k still in the bank
But a Porsche is a Porsche. The supra is a BMW 😂
How many were made?
What? Pink?
No, ruby star neo.
Volkswagen EV factory should scare the crap out of Porsche for going all electric.
Porsches have lots of stuff going on
19:04 for a Porsche that’s quite a lot of turbo lag I have to say.
Ridiculous money
The drone, engine/cabin noise in this video/car gives me headache. Other videos/cars are fine though.
Nice car ,but kill the pink color
base corvette does 60 in the high 2's.
Is this better than sl43 or sl63
YES
A high end version of Subaru engine
Porsche flat 6 is a high end version of Corvair engine
Are you sure it supports Android Auto? Everything I have read says it is not supported (unless you manually install a firmware update).
Porsche refuses to install rear 🔊 on base audio system and that’s really pathetic.
21:05 "Subaru's wish they could rev up to the 7400 rpm this engine will do". BRZ / 86 revs to 7600(?) 🤔
I think he was referring to the turbo Subaru’s not naturally aspirated
300 hp from a 2l turbo is lousy performance. Our Mini Cooper JCW gets 331hp from its 2l and not charging Porsche prices...
