Busted! I Got Caught Plagiarizing My Homework

Naomi was always a good student, and took her classwork seriously, and her grades. At the end of middle school, in eight grade English class, the teacher gave them a creative writing assignment. Their homework was to be a real writer and go home and write a poem to present to the rest of the class.
The teacher gave the class three weeks to really think about it and work on it and write the poem, but for Naomi it was just three long weeks of procrastinating. She just couldn't pull any of her ideas together.
She really couldn't think of anything, and either she was bad at writing poems, or like a lot of famous writers, she just had writer's block. No matter what, she was unmotivated and uninspired and this had grown into way more than just a homework assignment - it overwhelmed her.
Finally, with just a day left, she went on Google and looked up poems and famous writers, because, well, she wanted to cheat. She knew plagiarism was wrong, and she had never copied any famous writers before or plagiarized anything, but she was frustrated and desperate, and, at the time, she didn't think she'd get caught.
The one key fact that she conveniently forgot was that at her school (and probably most schools) the teachers were very big on doing your own original work and never copying, or cheating on tests or homework, or stealing other people's ideas. Plagiarizing, especially copying a famous writer for your homework, was a major offense. But, she wasn't thinking about getting caught, she was just thinking about getting her homework assignment done.
She searched around on Google and found the perfect poem by a perfectly famous writer. She changed a coupe of words here and there - not that that did much good - and she just went ahead and printed up and turned it in.
The next day in class the teacher went around handing the poems back to the class BUT she skipped Naomi. It was pretty clear, she got caught and there was nothing she could do. Then the teacher asked her to join her in the hall and that was that. She burst into tears and was so embarrassed and ashamed of herself for plagiarizing and copying a famous writer. She got busted.
She got a referral, which is like part of your permanent school record, and lunchtime detention for a week, but her teacher was really sweet and understanding. Naomi just crumbled under the pressure and made a super bad choice. Her teacher said she could take another try and write a new original poem and that she would just deduct ten points from the grade for her little brush with plagiarism and getting caught.
Her dad was really upset about it and he gave her a long talking to, and the detention gave her a lot of time to think about it. She learned her lesson - never copy other people's work or plagiarize - and to just breathe and put in the work and effort.
She worked really hard to make sure her next poem was good, but also didn't get all crazy about it, and she really liked what she wrote and got a good grade on it too!

I remember during my first year in college that a classmate of mine got caught plagiarism. I remember walking back into the classroom and saw my professor and the student outside the classroom door. I knew something was up because they were both outside and right as I walked passed them I briefly heard the professor saying "That is called plagiarism" to the student, I know by the tone of the professor’s voice that the student did plagiarized. I don’t know what punishment the student got but I assume she was left off with a warning because I kept seeing that student throughout the rest of the first year
She’s lucky if that’s all she got was a warning.
Many colleges and universities will not only have you a F (or 0) for the assignment but they can also give you the same for the class.
Or at worst expel you from the college as a whole.

I stg this is like what happened to me. So I was in Language arts class and we were given an assignment to write a blog about fiction vs. non fiction. I’m actually a very good student and quite smart but I was not that good at writing so I searched up fiction and non fiction and found the perfect blog. Just like what the girl did in this storybooth, I plagiarized but I also changed up some words. My teacher found out about what I did because he said the blog was “too good”. Anyways he gave me a second chance because he knows I’m a good student but he also deducted 10 points from my score but I didn’t get any detention tho. I wrote the blog and ended up getting 86% which is pretty good 😊
Edit: although I still “kinda” plagiarize sometimes but I change up whole sentences sometimes and take what I wrote and search it up to see if the website appears. If it does then I have to change some other stuff or add some of my own stuff but if it doesn’t, then I’m all good 😅
It's okay to "cite your sources" in papers, like, you know, put "according to such a person .... " and then your information. This actually can get your credit if you mix it in with some of your own writing. Just changing a few words around are not going to cut it when you get into more advanced classes.

While plagiarism is horrible and not something you should do, the reason it's bad isn't because of the law. For example, there are still 72 countries where being gay is criminalized, but I think you can agree that doesn't make it the terrible deed those countries make it out to be.

They’re gonna find out eventually. All teachers who assign these types of assignments can see if you plagiarized since they can look and where you got your sources from so it is cheating
When I was in middle school i was in a similar situation, I had to write a poem for my English class and at the time i was very busy with other things so the day before the poem was due I searched on Google "simple poems" I made sure that the poem I was going to copy was something my teacher could look at and say "yep she wrote that" when I turned it in I did feel some guilt but went along with my life. She never found out but I told myself that I was NEVER going to plagiarize again.
In English the only writing assignments I ever liked are the Narrative writing assignments.

The last day of 6th grade my LA class got to do a poem about anything that is about smelling, touch, taste, sight, or sound, and it *wasn’t* for a grade. I wanted to do a really cool presentation so I did a stop motion. When I presented it in front of class, my teacher was sooo impressed! She said that if it was a grade, she would definitely give my an A+! Also she said that it was best presentation in the class
For anyone who is plagiarizing an essay or something, heres a tip -
Put the essay into Google Translate. Put it into Spanish, then switch it to German, then switch it to French, then switch it back to English. Then just change any grammatic errors in the essay. BTW you could do this with any language just switch it around a bunch. But for real, don't plagiarize. Only use this if you are willing to take the responsibility in case the teacher somehow finds out

This has happened to me before. I was so bad at poems until I actually thought about a lot of stuff. I did tell myself I was bad at it too. I also cheated on it too. But then I started to read a lot of poems and how they're creative. And now Im really good at doing poems now because I think a lot💛
In 6th grade there was a project where you had to wright a full cast story and we got like a week to do it, it was a long project and well my friends and I just copied and pasted one from online and changed the words so it will look more like 6th graders work and we got away with it 😌😉

One time when I had to do a poem since I’m bad at poems I asked an ai to write me one and I passed, I wasn’t copying anyone because I asked an ai to write me one lmao
One time my “friend” plagiarized a poem, had me read it, lied about plagiarizing it, got yelled at by the principal, and weeks later left the school
