I keep my swatches in a 3-ring notebook, with the clear plastic sleeves to put my swatches in. I started out using a book from Amazon that has 24 squares per page, with 3 lines to the right of the square, to write the pencil information in. The paper is so thin in the Amazon book, that I started swatching on Bristol Vellum or Hot Pressed Watercolor paper and putting my homemade swatches in the sleeves, in the notebook. I also have alcohol markers, water based markers, Coliro watercolor swatches in it.
TFS! I have the Ruby Charms artist edition. I need to tear it apart and do this though, because I have had to add sheets for pencils that weren't originally in there.
Hello!! OMG! Just visit your website. Amazing!! I have recently acquired many ranges of colored pencils, as well as media related to coloring (wax pencils, paints, powders etc... of all styles.). So....I have to make or redo all my color charts... Personally I use a swatch book like yours but A5 format and I would also like to make color charts to put in my kits, and also a notebook with all the media used by coloring! To thank you because your lists will help me a lot I subscribed to the 2 colorists whose channel you linked in your website. I was obviously already subscribed to yours! 😉 Thanks for the PDFs!! 😃🤗🌸🦄🌸
Hi Emma! I have a ring binder and it’s so bulky, I just don’t use it because of that, the presentation book is great idea! ❤❤❤ I will be making that change! Thank you! I made my own swatch sheets with cut out windows and have swatched most of my pencils on them but it’s too much work, I also have my Black Widows on Emily’s Swatch sheet. The swatch sheets are already looking beautiful! ❤
Yes it's really nice not to keep having to redo them when I want to switch stuff around..... Hope the portfolio helps them be more use able for you hun
All of my swatches are inside their corresponding colouring pencils case. I do them on piece of white paper that I stick inside or in front of the colouring pencils case. Same goes for my markers as well.
I do both, and notice that whenever I use a set that has the swatch card inside, I never grab for the book. But then sometimes I forget to put it back in the tin
Great idea Emma,I've recently started using those document wallets for my sheet music but I shall transfer all my swatch sheets into them too. I currently have them in a cardboard folder and it is always a nuisance finding the right ones from a pile of cardstock. I've started watercolour and inktense swatches too so I shall have them in a separate document wallet from my pencils. :-)
A necessary evil. Swatching lol. I make mine on a spreadsheet mostly because my writing is awful and I like everything to look professional. Plus my girlfriends always want me to do them for them. Then I use the same spreadsheet to put them into a print out of both numerical and alphabetical order. So many times you may watch a colour along, they say the number or the name so I can find it more easily. Two birds one stone I reckon. tysmfs ❤
I use the same system and Emily's charts and claire family ones so have 2 versions if some 😂 I don't put them in a folder I have a draw In my desk for them so can just get witch ones need
I absolutely need to have swatches. When I started colouring I bought a swatchbook from Amazon that was meant to hold all my media neatly separated, but I miscalculated how much space I need for what. And I realized I want to be able to compare colours, so I took it apart and now have loose pages sorted by medium in an index folder. Also, swatches need to be big enough to properly see the colours. Tiny swatch circles like in the Ruby Charm planner wouldn't do for me.
I need to get my swatch charts for all 6 different colored pencils that I currently owned laminated by an office supply store like Staples or FedEx office here in the USA o make them last hopefully for ever since colored pencils don't have an expiration date at all.
Omg I have a book just like this and same swatch charts. I feel fancy to be like you!
Hehe good to know it was a good idea ❤️
Brilliant idea hun gona try this one thanks again
Thank you very much hun
I laughed because as I was watching this I was RESWATCHING my Prismacolor and relaxing to it teehee. Great tips my dear❤

That is a very clever idea thank you
