- Here is what you'll need!
Rock Candy
MATERIALS
Cake pop stick
1 cup water
2-3 cups of sugar
1 tablespoon food coloring
Mason jar
Clothespin
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Dip a cake pop stick water, then dip into sugar. Set aside to dry, until the sugar has hardened on the cake pop stick.
2. In a medium-sized pot, heat 1 cup of water and bring to a simmer.
3. Slowly incorporate 2-3 cups of sugar into the hot water. Add sugar in about half a cup at a time until sugar can no longer dissolve in the water. Mix the solution consistently to ensure the sugar is dissolving.
4. Add 1 tablespoon of food coloring to add color.
5. Carefully pour the sugar mixture into a mason jar.
6. Insert the dried sugar coated cake pop stick into the sugar solution. Make sure the stick does not not touch the bottom of the mason jar.
7. Use a clothespin to hold the cake pop stick in place.
8. Seat aside and avoid mixing for 3-5 days, to get the sugar crystals grow.
9. Remove the cake pop stick from the mixture to reveal the sugar crystal.
10. Allow the sugar crystal to hang dry from a mason jar.
11. Once dried, enjoy as a lollipop, in drinks or as a decoration.

Instead of food dye, I mix in single packets of Kool-Aid powder. They come out colored AND flavored. 👍
Noice
I was wondering if this would work, glad to hear it does :)
I want to use Jello powder
THANK YOU
I used different juices to brew up into different flavors for my children
That seems more than a tablespoon of food colouring
It said tablespoon
Yeahh??? they said it looked like more than a tablespoon so I dont get your point
Royal Shadows666 they never said it was more than one tablespoon in the description and the video it clearly says one tablespoon yet it seems more than that in the bowl. What is there not to get?
I was saying it to CookieMuncie
CookieMunchie
We know it did...
"Slowly incorporate."
**dumps whole bowl in**
Yes
He/she did slowly incorporate. That would be funny tho if that was the instructions but dumping an entire bowl was shown instead. That'd be like wow, impatient much?
Sameee I did that too😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Lmao
I just need to know this so I can make the infinity stones
]
That’s- smart
at 1:00 its so unsatisfying bc its blue before green ugh
🤣🤣
@@amkp3691 how did you do that
@@adorii5168 jkkkk🚶🏽🗨💬🕳👔👕👘👕👘👕
That's a lot of food dye goddamn
ikr I made rock candy and added two drops and it was enough coloring.
You can also add kool aid powder if you dont want to use all that dye
Mamandu 0 it may taste better too
@@maylaniiw oh yeah true
Shits not cheap either
Thanks for the recipe! I just made this now I gotta wait those 3-5 days. Wish me luck that they turned out!
Yeah i suddenly feel this compulsive need to know whether a total stranger's rock candy turned out ok or not.
It’s been a year, what happened to those candies
It’s been 2 years, how did they turn out?
Idk if it’s me or the candy but I’ve tried this recipe so many times and it never worked, so I’d say a big 👎👎but it might work for you
@@vivifoxx5797 yup
Fun tip: mix in some kool aid powder and you get both a strong color and a flavored rock candy!
Thanks for the tip! Great video. Can't wait to make this myself 🔥
The red sugar water looked like blood but when the rock candy came out it was so beautiful omgggg
0:15 “slowly incorporate”
How do you do the time pls
I'm eating rock candy while watching this video
I am eating a popsicle:)
😂
Same 😂😂
I'm eating gum
Same im eating blue rock candy
This is so amazing!!
_how do you expect me to wait three to five days for this_
Tip let it cool before adding the stick if you don’t the sugar will fall off
Just tried it! Followed it step by step. AWESOME!
Veronica Crowell did it work well?
Yours is best amongst all other videos
Im doing this right now! This is so cool!!
it looks yum cant wait to try it
thanks!you really helped me!
Wow it turns out great
Guys, if the recipe doesn't work, I think you're supposed to wet the skewers with the sugar water you boil, not just regular water. You're supposed to boil the water and the sugar first, then you take the skewers and you wet them in the boiled sugar water and *then* you coat them in sugar. That's what I remember from an old recipe I learned a few years ago at least.
They look pretty.
Yum i need to try this
It's so pretty 😍
Yummy rockcandy looking good
I'm going to do this. It kind of reminds me of the science experiment that you would do for science projects in school to simulate cave formations
I’ll make some maybe Friday I’m craving for them
And this my friends is the reason I got fat
Nice surely gonna try
this one has a better time than another one I watched, which was 2 weeks!
Sugar, sugar water water mix mix mix like this this this
Thx now I have a idea for the science fair YAY
I remember seeing this in a Bill Nye the Science Guy videos in elementary school. Good times
This seems like a lot of work to only make one lollipop. Can the remaining liquid be reused to make more?
Obviously.
ya it can
Yes but you must boil it again and add 1/4 of a cup more sugar
Beautiful beautiful
Good idea to do during quarantine and fun activity for kids
Hey that’s so cool
OMG I wanna make this now!❤️❤️❤️
Hafsa Aboo tell me if that works 😊
Wow that candy!!!
Wow! Is so cool!!!👍👍👍👍👍
thx to this video my miss teach us about this : )
i LOVE IT
I loveeee rock candy so when I saw this omfgggf
Is there a big difference between putting in 2 cups or 3 cups of sugar? Like will they be smaller if you put less sugar in it?
I LIKE GREEN AND RED AND BLUE AND ORANGE ROCK CANDY !!!
sweet!
Do they taste alright and could you put extra flavour in?
Yeah
Yup
No
Instead of food coloring you could use some type of Kool-Aid packet. I know your comment is 4 years old, I just didn't know if you got an answer
me being lucky enough to have some red food colouring in my home: yes
I love rock candy
I am eating one NOWWW!!!
thx
This is sooo satisfieng
Can I reuse that same water + sugar + dye to another candy rock stick? Or can you only do it once? It seems to me that all the material left in the pot is discarded afterwards. It seems to me very wasteful.
I am here researching that exact question. I read that you can, just reheat and add a little more sugar. I see now this comment is old lol but if you were still wondering
You can boil the water and add 1/4 cup more sugar
I suggest you use flavoring like Kool-Aid or Crystal light it makes it taste
Awesome
Very nice! 👍
hello fellow Stop Motion Animator!
Holy shit damn that looks good
I lucky I got this for a school project heck yea
Seems easy enough
Can you make multiple with one batch?
You can take the old substance after making one and boil it and add 1/4 cup more sugar
Eveytime I put the stick with sugar in it in the sugar stuff it would take off the sugar
Tea Shishtar,
Omg same, the crystals are floating and they’re not on the stick!! 😭
Try making sure the sugar is COMPLETELY dry, or that the water has cooled down a little. If that doesn’t work then I don’t know why it’s happening.
Hey Buzz Feed! Is Ok If I Use This Video For My Research... Many Thanks! (Btw I'll Give You Credit)
Watched another one they used smushed strawberries instead of food coloring, sure it changes the taste as well. Smush them and use a small collie set to get the seeds out. Sure you could use other fruits as well,
Awesome! 😍😂😁🙏😜😘❤️ xxx
I like it
oh wow that works i will do it
I remember making this at R. R. Moton Elementary
Do we have to put it in the refrigerator?
its so yummy
My mind exploded 💣💣🔥💥💥❔❕❔❕
OMG WOW!
Man, I thought this was the chocolate rock candy that you got when you were 4-8 years old after school on Friday
I wanted to do a report on crystalization :) thank you!
Yes but is the dye crucial?? Can i make clear hard candy?? I dont need sleep, i need answers. Please tell me.
3 to 5 days for 3 to 5 seconds of enjoyment?
sooooooooooooooooooo helpful
I used the mio stuff instead of flavoring. I’m so exited to taste,
What flavoring should I use for blue rock candy
I'm here cause my teacher told us to check this out for a school assignment. I also thought this was a 5-Minute Crafts video and that's saying something.
Tommy’s World we are forced to do this cuz my teacher is a nut job and she wants us to send a picture. One of my friends is just going to take a pic from google and photoshop it into her room
Question: would it be safe to make Rock Candy on say a Stainless Steel Spoon?
Cool
Wow I need these
MOM! CAN WE MAKE ROCK CANDY!?
What's that?
Here.....
I did the same thing
I was gonna do this w/ my kid when she was little. But I'm impatient. I used to live in ohio, now in NC. I found some at a gas station & was like whoa, hey childhood. they were on something that said something like seasonal or speciality. Idk. Something hinted at get it now or you won't be seeing it soon after this. Got a light blue one for my kid for Valentine's. Yeah, I'm kinda guilty of spoiling her. Other things, it's more sentimental. I don't think she'll pick up on it, but it still might look like fascinating, interesting candy to her tho. I just thought it was cute. Or maybe her Virginia grandmother might tell her a little something about it, idk. Rock candy seems like it was created by independent um idk how to describe them. Least likely to be influenced by technology type folks.
Why can't I find mochi for her? 😭 It was kinda u effortlessly found when I was a kid... Now that it's a trendy... Thing, - no where to be found.
Yes its awesome toi
super
Can u use bbq stick cuz i dont have a cake pop stick
Yummy 😋
No I'm trying it today hope works
It is so tasty it is so yummy
Do we put it in the freezer
What is on the stick? Before they pur in it the sugar stuff?
next level pocky sticks
Do you put the sugar in the fridge
3-5 days in refrigerator or just like that?
Food coloring is optional right?
can I put the mixture in the fridge? to avoid ants (sorry for my bad english)
Yes, that worked for me.
Do I need the food dye?
When I put my sugar sticks in the jar of food colouring and sugar is the sugar sticks suppose to melt the sugar sticks right off of them is that normal cus that’s what’s happening to mine
when u leave it out to soak colour, does ant comes?
can you use sugar crystals
