First the hood logo is called a Hood Ornament. AMC/Jeep designed this to be a large station wagon, but a lotta folks say it's the father of the modern SUV. The Grand Wagoneer became the first family overlander before overlanding was a thing.
Suburban was around then we looked at them also when we got ours in 86 GW yeah I'm old. The Suburban was not as nice inside lot of plastic but had the big 454 engine could tow more we were only towing a bass boat back in those days wasn't needed. I would say the GW could be called the father of luxury SUV's like Yukon Denali, Lincoln Navigator, and Cadillac Escalade of later years.
I have an 84 Grand Wagoneer. First year of the Grand. We use it as a road trip and vacation rig. Love the simplicity of something vintage. The seats are very nice for long haul drives. Very much like sitting in a comfy recliner while driving. Up to 83, you had a base model Wagoneer and the Limited which was the posh version. In 84, The base model was dropped save for Govt fleet models. Still was called a Grand Wagoneer, but stripped down with no frills/woodgrain, etc. After 84 the base model Wagoneer name was given to the XJ Wagoneer (Cherokee as most know them). They date back to 62/63 and the first couple of years they ran a form of IFS. It was troublesome, so they dropped it for a solid front axle. Crown is a manufacturer/supplier of repop Jeep stuff. They have a large presence for the Full Sized Jeeps. BJ's off road is one of the best places to get parts for these rigs. They are a distributor of crown parts and also offer custom built pieces from various other vendors.
Is there a way to get in contact with the ones who fixed it this one up? I have an 88’ with that exact color and looking to bring it back to this condition
The hood ornaments the put on the wagoneers starting in 86 are the ugliest part of the Jeep however it is a old school hood ornament it's attached with a chain and a spring it's made to move around and not break off when someone pulls on it falls on it or bushes are branches come in contact with it
