the original series contains a lot more horror imo. the new series still keeps that kind of eerie charm to the show whilst incorporating alot more comedic moments and it flows really well. definitely recommend!!!
To be fair this is all from the new season, and imo the new season has a lot more comedic or laid back moments than the first series of episodes. The first season was hella existential and scary, this season still has that feel but it’s kinda different. The characters talk a lot more with each other, you see actual relationships, more slice of life-y ness in general. Definitely give both seasons a try though, this series is amazing.
As someone who was also freaked out by the og series as a kid, let me just say this series is a lot tamer in many aspects. The original series delt a lot with shock and gore as it was trying to fit in that punch in a short amount of time, while this series has a bigger focus on psychological horror. There are still gross aspects, but like the other commenters mentioned there's also a lot more humor, and since the episodes are longer they don't have to shove all the gore and terror at once. Without spoiling too much, the horror generally kind of relies on a slow build as the characters learn more about the world they live in. I definitely reccomend the show, it's really good and honestly really funny.
