  • The iPhone 14 Pro has reportedly been experiencing severe battery drain in its first week after launch. In this video I discuss some potential reasons behind this battery drain, and some ways you can save battery on your iPhone as well.

    I upgraded from the 11 pro to 14 pro max a month ago, because I couldn't handle the battery drainage anymore. But the battery life of the 14pro max is not as I expected. I'm not on my phone all the time really, pretty basic user, but I still have to charge the phone daily. It is a slight improvement in days where I shoot a lot of videos outside, but it's just disappointing because of the days with average usage. I'm also pretty disappointed with the screen brightness. When I'm outside I don't see much better than I used on the 11 pro; and when I want to increase brightness it's already on 100%. There are also other issues beside battery and brightness, makes me feel like all these reviewers ain't being honest.

      You have to enable auto-brigtness in order to get 2000 nits outside. Since I turned it on I have no issues seeing the screen, even in direct sunlight.

    Turned off AOD, turned off haptic, have 2 apps on in background refresh - the phone continues to lose battery faster than my 13 pro max. I never once worried about or needed to charge that phone in the middle of the day, I can;t trust this one at all to survice. What is a fair expectation of battery life? I work from home full time, the phone is always connected to wifi but even at night - if I take it off the charger it loses 4-5% of battery just sitting there doing nothing. 16.0.2 loaded, 2 weeks since purchase - I don't think this is right.

    I have the always on display “off” for the most part. I turn it on when I feel the need to be glancing at the phone in some situations. Since I went from the iPhone 11 Pro Max to this iPhone 14 pro max, I am in and out of setting more than I ever have been in the past! I miss the 11 pro max battery compared to this phone, but still prefer this phone with the upgrades that it has. Also understanding that this phone still out does the competition’s battery time between charges. Thanks for the great review!

      Its weird when I see people commenting that the battery capacity is dropping.
      I only use Facebook and Instagram TH-cam etc.
      Also one thing If a person who plays game on the any iphone for 1hr or 30min or 2hrs or any min or hour every day
      Iphone will not suit you because your battery will be down.
      I cannot belive it whenn people are saying the battery capacity is less than 100.
      If you take care of the Iphone 14 Pro Max it will last for more than 1 year at least because I am using 1 year now.

    • @Truth_Seeker1
      @Truth_Seeker1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Auto brightness can get you 2,000 nitts of brightness in sunlight that would take extra battery.

    • @Stephen2697.
      @Stephen2697. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Truth_Seeker1 Both valid points. My specific glitch-like behaviour was when my phone would be in my bag, face against (but not flat - as that would turn off AOD) the side wall of the bag and the AOD brightness was definitely at the 2000nit peak - utterly blinding in a dark bag - as im reaching into the bag.
      Proximity sensor/ Ambient Light sensors not working as designed? Simple fix was turn off AOD and have had great battery since. I think there are just some unusual residual bugs with the AOD in very specific edge cases more than anything.
      Also the AOD is very distracting whether people choose to admit it or not - also most people are conditioned to not place devices face down on tables so it’s a de-facto subconscious desk productivity /attention killer. I’m sure many android users choose to turn this off too even though their AODs are much more barebones usually - generally greyscale b/w.

    I unplug at 0530 hours. I go to bed around 2200 hours. If my phone can't last that duration, I am not happy. So, at first my iphone 14 pro was only getting about 4 hrs SOT. I turned off AOD and limited my screen to 60 htz. Also turned off background email fetch and app refresh. Now I get 6 to 6.5 hrs SOT. But I don't feel I had to dumb down my brand new iPhone 14 pro, to get the same battery as my iPhone 13 got, with a smaller battery and same settings. And honestly the pro isn't even all that great. I may just pay it off sooner than I wanted to trade in for the 14 plus. Same chip as the 13, lower quality camera too, but the battery should be much better and thats my number 1.

  • @waynebUK
    @waynebUK 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

    As a mentioned wanted feature in the video you can actually just have the AOD show your clock and widgets! It’s removes the wallpaper completely and looks really good. You enable this by going to your focus modes and choose options then “Dim Lock Screen” do this for all of your focus modes or just one, either way you get just the clock and your widgets. Looks good as well. Please note though the AOD always turns off completely and automatically when the sleep focus activates.

    Never understood why they made the always on display show the entire screen. Just show me the time and whatever widgets I have on my screen. My 13 PM went 2 days with same usage and had battery power to spare, while the 14 PM barely makes it through 1.5 days. I’m also having lagging issues which seem to creep up daily.

But after that, I notice that without using my phone it seems like something is wrong because it felt warm when I touch it, and last night before I sleep i charge my phone and unplugged it when its 100% and the today when I woke up my battery only left 65% without turning on the always on display feature. Damn this IOS 16 is killing the battery. What should I do now before I think best to go visit the Apple service centre?
