What is field archery?
Field archery is shot in three divisions (compound, recurve and barebow). Archers shoot from marked (known) and unmarked (unknown) distances, from 5 to 60 meters, depending on the division (requires shooting uphill and downhill, often with varying positions for the feet). The arrow flight differs on a given distance because of the angle of the shot, which means that the archer must know by experience how much to subtract or add when shooting up or downhill, across a gully, etc. The size of the target varies (with diameters of 20 -- 40 -- 60 -- 80cm). The target faces have six scoring zones.
At the world championships, in qualifications, archers shoot 24 targets from marked distances and 24 targets from unmarked distances. The top sixteen competitors in each division and class move to the 1/8 elimination round and shoot 12 marked targets. The top eight competitors then advance to the quarterfinals and shoot eight new targets. In the semifinals and medal finals, the top four competitors in each class and division shoot matches consisting of 4 marked targets.

Its the field world championships, they are there to win. Stringwalking is how they are aiming because its the most accurate method.
Nobody has won the barebow class shooting any other way in recent history.
Felicidades a los dos, por la gran ésta gran final...;))
The video shows the US archer shooting first, but at the target it shows that the Spanish Archer already shot. Is the Spaniards first shot missing from the video?
Good sportsmanship
Then you have a dry-fire. All momentum is going forward, so no risk of damaging face since everything moves away from face and forward.
Wow, this was close!
got the head bob going on at
Jeff Foxworthy vs Hank Azaria. jkjk great shooting!
+grantmac017 String walking is not the most accurate method. The most accurate method is the one that works best for the individual. Howard Hill shot split finger and was a better shot than both of these guys. The Olympic Archers shoot split for the most part as well.
Spain is closer to France than the U.S. and poor Spanish guy has no one but his coaches cheering for him.
Isn't aiming like that dangerous.. what if a nock breaks =S

He wouldn't be able to do this kind of archery - I think he's even said so himself. Field archery and Bow hunting is quite different. I'm not saying he's not good enough though!
Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.
