In Selena Quintanillas concert this exact thing happened. Her management stoped the concert immediately. She then instructed people to calm down and back out so the people could get proper medical attention. That’s what a true artist does. Shows in actions, not just words.

I’ve been to many concerts, festivals. The most violent experience was at Travis Scott at Austin City Limits 2018. It’s exactly as these people described, crowd shifting left right front back as a unit. You can literally get lifted off your feet and be carried because you have bodies compressing on your to support your weight. No-one should have to fear for their lives at a music event, though, people should be aware of the intensity of a crowd and the reputation of a Travis Scott show. With that said, the preparation and ability to help those struggling that night was unacceptable. Astroworld sounds worse than drowning in water. What an absolute nightmare.

Being a 5 foot girl I was terrified and my friends had to protect me the whole time from asshole kids trying to push everyone. • @cookiedougha

He once stopped a concert for a fan stealing his shoe, but not for people dying?
He saw EMT coming in and out of the crowd, trying to reach towards the vicitims but couldn't. Travis could have said something... Many of his fans were crying for him to stop.
This is not only management's issue but Travis for caring about the safety of his fans.
Again he stopped a concert for his shoe and address his fans to get the shoe stealer.
All he needed to do was stop the concert and have fans look in their surronding to make sure everyone is safe and spaced out. And to have fans make room for the EMT to the assist hundreds of bodies collapsing.

Genuinely, the only time I felt that would've been possible was when the music stopped or if there were a few large guys to withstand the crowd for a second or two to pull them back up
(For context: I didn't step on anyone and I was toward the back of the crowd and if it was that bad back there I can't imagine how bad it was in the front. This is the result when people idolize mediocre, self-involved people that don’t care about anything besides money, materials, clout, and enjoying all their underserved luxuries. I can’t imagine still being a fan of his after experiencing horror of this scale but you know damn well he didn’t lose 50,000 fans yesterday.

Cancel culture is garbage. People are human beings. You don’t enjoy famous people because they’re good hearted nice people. You enjoy them because of whatever art they bring to the table. If you choose not to support someone that’s fine. But the concept of saying if you support this person you’re also a terrible person and saying they could never apologize or do anything to repair what they did you just want them to never work again is toxic asf to society as a whole. People do change. Everyone keeps saying stop idolizing celebrities yet everyone wants them to be perfect and never do no wrong. That’s not treating them like a human. Not saying just Travis Scott cuz he could be a pos but none of us know him personally to know that for a fact. Same with any celebrity. We see probably 1% of their actual lives and persona

    2) 50k+ people and only 1,200-2,000 security staff
    3) so he paused for a couple minutes because someone passed out, but it took him roughly an hour to stop the show for the people who died.
    4) the concert’s safety was so poor, that people who didn’t buy tickets BROKE INTO the concert
    5) no one thought to considered to put age restrictions for the event and a 14 year old died
    6) there are videos of people screaming and yelling to him and his staff only to be met with I can’t help you’s. Someone dead ass yelled at a cameraman to please help because people were dying and he got brushed off and the people didn’t even bother to communicate throught the mic that something is wrong
    Finally

Venue was a movie theater back in the day (common transition), has a mezzanine level, and tables on each side of interior, and then standing room in the middle. Not sure the capacity of the Vogue. Been going there since the 80's. The crowd ranged in age from maybe 35 to 70-ish. While the floor got crowded/closer toward end of show-I was upfront a row away from stage barrier, there were no brawls, fights, or crushing of people! As for artists that put good out there, Todd played solo, w/out his band, on the heli-pad at a Denver hospital last year-played solely for docs' and nurses. He did grow up in CO, and they were a mainstay-still are, in CO. They sell out Red Rocks mere seconds after tix go on sale there. I blame the age group that flocks to these kinds of shows, and the promoters, and the city for allowing the mayhem. And yes, Covid is still very much a threat. He looks annoyed, frustrated, and exhausted. Like he was forced to make a live video about the situation. His body language wasn’t of a person that felt empathy. His statement wasn’t apologetic.

@@thehumannugakareemsupreme9484 go watch the videos from that night. There are bodies being carried out right in front of the guy, and he’s still performing like nothing happened. Sure, he stopped eventually. But it should have stopped the second he saw someone was injured. He also could have stopped the crowd earlier in the concert to ask them to take a step back and calm down before continuing on with the show.

@@thehumannugakareemsupreme9484 I don’t think the “better late than never” concept in terms of stopping the show works here.
He literally could have stopped it earlier or like the person above me said, told everyone to calm down and take a step back.

God. Went to every Metallica concert as a kid. You got the occasional beer spilt on you, and would get pressed to the point your feet were off the ground but the bands always stopped if someone fell, and had security right at each point, highly trained to deal with the situation. The concert goers, even if they accidentally hit you, they checked you were ok. Times have changed
