Although the muted, non-shiny 3P-0 is probably the most screen accurate to A New Hope, this is exactly the kind of set that makes me wish Lego still produced Chrome pieces in various colors. Imagine a statue of the ROTS version of this droid. People would go NUTS

I think the most excitement would be for a chrome UCS Naboo Royal Starship.
Although I am 99% sure Chrome won't come back in our lifetimes.
For now, Silver Ink (Metallic Silver on Bricklink) is the closest we will get. In fact, I think that close is close enough that a Royal Starship using that color would still sell like hotcakes.

Grievous and chewy are both quite tall characters. Together with 3po I thought they actually machted correctly.
I think that Chewy should be even bigger than the 2023 version. But close enough.
Agreed. I’ve been considering getting Chewie to go with my R2 and this 3PO but the video worried me. Then I looked up pics of the characters together and I’d say they’re totally in scale with each other. Chewie’s well over 2m tall, after all.
Peter Mayhew was 7'3". Anthony Daniels is 5'9". So Peter was 26% taller than Anthony. The Chewbacca figure is 18", C-3PO is 15", so Lego Chewie is 20% taller.
So this Lego C-3PO is actually a little too tall.

Am I the only one who thinks it’s weird that R2D2 didn’t come with a base yet is meant to scale with figures that come with a base?

Yes. You realize a base with the same design as C3P0 for R2 would be ridiculously big right? Plus, C3P0 kind of needs that base as he’s very tall with an extremely high center of gravity, meaning getting him to stand upright without the risk of falling over would be near impossible. R2 however is the opposite- short with a very wide base. I get what you’re saying but why give R2 a base that would add $20-30 to the price when it would be completely unnecessary
3P0 needs more support than R2. Plus a sturdy base for R2 would require like half the existing piece count. Not to mention that the middle leg is removable, and he’s supposed to be posable. Stand for R2 makes no sense. Stand for sensitive C3P0 makes sense.

Pre-ordered it the minute I could with the dark falcon! I have the R2 already, wanted the 3po for years. That, and me and my best friend have r2 and 3po tattoos. It was a must for me. Can't wait to build it

thats what i thought it was as I have the 2022 one and wasnt planning on getting the new one.....Now im gonna have to get the new one if I get 3PO so they are both in scale
They really nailed the body shape with this one. The face still needs some work but at least doesn't look like Yoda on coke.

If you are careful when taking apart the feet you can remove the rod that is stopping you from taking C-3PO off of his base
For $140, the C-3PO really should have all printed pieces. Also, I would have preferred the R2-D2 & C-3PO to have been released at the same time, instead of the gap in release between them, but that’s just me.
This set is wonderful, and I can't wait to pick him up to pair with R2... but WHY, especially for the 25th Anniversary of TPM, do we still not have a Phantom Menace 3PO minifig 😭

In term's of Pademe's Royal Starship, I have a proposal for a great ROTS set. It's not her Royal Starship, but the J-Type Naboo Star Skiff. It's the one she flies to Mustafar, and I think it would be amazing to get instead of another Battle of Mustafar, unless of course it's a diorama. It would come with Obi-Wan, Anakin, Padme, and maybe even some of the Separatists Anakin slaughtered
Add R2 dragging 3PO's head and the battle droid's head on 3PO's body to ur Geonosis MOC

Really enjoy all of David's reviews, they're always very well scripted and I like the balance between more off-the-cuff intros/summaries at the end vs. the scripted in-depth portions. Just have to ask why he frequently says things like "there *is* 9 stickers in this set" vs. "there *are* 9 stickers...". The grammar police in my head are crying out every time that happens haha
This set is pretty good, although it would have to be 2 cm taller to be on scale, moreover his stand already add up to the height, so that might be the reason he appears to be a little short. Also he would have to be 1cm wider or R2 1 cm narrower to be in scale in the other dimension
I really wish the wires had been brick built and not stickers
It is really sad that the legs are locked on the platform, I do want to make it to have more postures. LOL

I think C-3PO and Chewbacca may be in scale since they are 5’9 and 7’6 respectively, putting C-3PO well under Chewbacca’s shoulders.

Man this is an incredible review! When the set was first revealed I wasn't too impressed but seeing it next to R2 is perfection. I wonder why LEGO chose to go this route keeping them separate rather than a UCS R2 and C-3PO all in one, I guess just lower barrier to entry?
More money. when they would only release the UCS C3PO people would only buy that set, now they have to buy a new R2 to match the C3PO + they can buy the chewbacca in the same scale

this set actually looks really great, the price eh, but it looks great. Especially when standing besides other Lego character models that aren't that great.
I wish they'd go back to putting actual background art on boxes, it just seems like Lego makes adult sets now and stopped caring about anything else. Makes you wonder how many kids still play with Lego

8:00 you say they're not in scale but we know Chewbacca is over 2 meters tall so in my opinion these look like they're in scale. Even the General Grievous one might be accurate scale here considering he's on top of a taller platform.

Just started collecting star wars and the r2 d2 set was a pass until i saw them both paired together. Probably not a day 1 buy, but on sale or discounted I'll pick both up. Pretty much the reason i haven't grabbed optimus prime. While the bumble bee set is nice, it just isnt the character that should be displayed with optimus. I understand the reasoning, but its disappointing.

I'm starting to dislike the fingers, it's been in soooooo many sets from the ninjago elemental mechs to the marvel buildable figures and everytime I see it it looks less like a finger
They have to stop with the stickers….especially on sets over $100
I like him but I really wish he was drumlacker gold, I’d even pay £200 for it instead of £120
