Plowed many acres with a 2x16 plow in my early boyhood days when got easier pulling went to 3 button. Supprising how much difference in the soils can affect the pulling resistence
Hi, Folks. Good video but the 'D4' is 'axckshully' a D2 4U series, about 38 horsepower. I think the Allis would be late enough to possibly have the first of the A-C engines after A-C bought Buda out but I don't know. I doubt it is the 11000 series engine fitted to late models. Just my 0.02. You all have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
@@dplant8961 This one is turbocharged. According to Norm Swinford's book, in the mid 60's, the HD11ST was developed for ag use with a turbocharged 10000 engine. Apparently some kind of half way step before going to the 11000.
Hi, @@RobertBancroft-fo8bz. Thanks for the correction. I have not read Norm's book and don't even have a reference library of any kind beyond what I have in my head - - - which is more Caterpillar yellow than anything else. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
That sound change that the Cat makes when the for-bottoms comes out of the ground. Under load its got a soft/indistinct chatter that I guess to those in the know, it means something about the component state. When we don't film, we don't catch stuff. Thanks for posting!
Yes, I don't think you can beat the traction of a crawler. The guy who owns this set up also has a AC D-21 and a two-twenty and neither of those tractors can pull this plow as well as this HD-11.
I ran a John Deere G as a young boy can sti hear the pop pop and have no hearing to affirm it. Till John Deere came out with Sound Guard Cab they were ear drum crushing tractor the old G was very loud and R.
@@joescheller6680 the only reason I would run a straight pipe on a John Deere two cylinder tractor would be a parade or a show but other than that, they are loud enough with the factory stack on it!
They are all really nice tr@ctors, love that AC ! Thanx
Thanks!
Really like watching the old iron hard at work. Especially the sound of the John Deere's!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree. Nothing compares to the iconic sound of a 2 cylinder John Deere under load.
Awesome!!
Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Great video! Love the sounds!

Yes it can change so much, even from field to field.

Very observant! Glad you liked it.
7 bottom is a huge path you can work a lot of land in a short time good video
Agree 100%! even by today's standards, this machine and plow combo will turn a lot of land
Donnie needs to spend some time setting up his plow
Yes, it's the very first time he's used that plow. Adjustments were made.
4 bottoms at time with those ole crawlers (well that one guy is doin like 7 haha) you can really see why they were popular on the wide open plains

Yes, they can be loud. Especially when people run straight pipes.
@@jonelsonster they were loud with standard factory mufflers on them. Yes straight pipes would be terrible.

The MM is a ZA with a ZB seat
Thanks!
Looks like its a little wet yet or some molboards not scoured up good enough yet.
Probably a little of both.
Nelson needs to learn how to use his differential lock or left wheel brake.
Ha! I guess. But he got through alright.
I liked the old steam engine pulling a 40 foot tool bar and disk
🙏
Yes I do I agree with you
Thanks!
Do you know which Buda engine in the HD11?
I think it's the AC 516. But I'm not sure of the more specific details.
Yes the 516 and with turbo and direct injection, ( i cant see side injectors, (lanova) would be the 11000 engine.
Sure does sound good, throttling up!
It would be nice if would say each tractor
I think I did in the video description
The owner of the property has a lot of horsepower their
Yes, he's definitely been bitten by the bug. He's got a lot of tractors.
Please stand still. The jerky camera make me sick to my stomach. Just a suggestion.
Sorry you don't like it. I'm a farmer not a film maker.
