Excellent film review…im so happy Knowles finally is using his guys as linebackers, and more importantly, letting them play naturally to stop runs, lining them up so they can..think he simply took the leash off them, and letting them be instinctful..my guess is that behind the scenes Coach Laurenitus had a hand in this somehow. we shall aee..but either way, we now can stop the runs, even when they blow holes in our D Line. !

What is the other reference name that you mentioned two times along with JP Acosta, the first time being at the 2:15 mark? The second time being a minute or so prior to the end. I can't tell if you're saying Matt or Max and I can't make out the last name at all either time. I looked through the transcripts and they're wrong and I watched on closed captioning and it's wrong

we can and probably will - ride Caleb Downs all the way to the championship…my guess is he or someone else talked Jim Knowles intomusing him properly by positioning him properly, taking the reigns off, and just letting him run and play free and use his natural high skills. thats my guess, because Knowles obviously made these changes..either way, its great to see and im so happy it has changed..even Ransom and Styles seem to have the same freedom and now are playing free and very very well from the changes..again, Downs might just end up our MVP, he is that good, that special..he is just like that excellent safety/ linebacker we had on the 2014 Championship team that led our defense and was MVP , Daron Lee….I believe in that run to the top..his play was so vital and impctful in the championshop run !..such a very speedy , excellent tackler , blitzer, pass and run defender, tough kid, with unusual natural abilities, just like like Downs…and Fickell used him the very same way..thats my prediction. I have been calling for this all year for knowles to use him this way and use our linebackers properly ( even thought most are safties !)..so happy that he now is..lets hope it continues…the kids name was Daron Lee ! go watch those old games, he is just like our beloved Caleb..
Fwiw, this is the style of defense Knowles coached at Oklahoma State, so this is what he has wanted to do all along. Something or someone (cough, cough) was hindering him implementing this defense until after the first Oregon game
@@nospam3327 i would disagree on the fact that Knowles has never been able to stop the run well, even into this year, look at all the michigan games, with his 5 safety, 2 linebacker sets, and how he spaced them, using the jack nd robber and all that what. i call kind of nonsense in run situations..it hasnt been good in the biggest games and wasnt again this year..stats. be what they are.. ut with that 4 man box with Caleb in the middle and freeing them up to,play, and also stacking 3-4 guys in the middle more for the run, he now has.When we lost to michigan this year, and also to Oregon, our defense simply could not stop them from going down the field especially in the final minutes of those games..and it cost us big, with losses..too many examples to give here typing. I beleive Day or Laurenitus or the players or he hi self finally realized he had to mke some schematic and personnel changes, esp. in run situations, and he did, for whatever reason. And im glad he finally did. We also had weakn ess in the middle of the field ( on passes) and this new set up with the 5 man set up i spoke of seems to have answered that as well, which we saw very much in that last game. Im just very happy things have changed much for the better. To me its very obvious.

They can play Downs as an additional linebacker because they have Jordan Hancock patrolling the back end.
