    Smart and sophisticated as these controllers are it'd be nice if it logged what stage it was in when the rollout tripped..

    Checking gas valve WC for correct label setting can save a lot of head scratching. Most installers don’t take their manometer out of the truck after the start up of a new install.

    Installed an 80,000 btu split system last week, on startup it ran for about 2 minutes and coded. It said the pressure switch was open. It was a .30 and the closest one we had was a .33 . Dang thing wouldn't work . It was the next morning before we could get another switch. Home owner was very understanding. But didn't really like it. Neither did I. We DID HAVE plenty of roll out switches, because like you said..... "They hardly ever go out." But sometimes they can.😎🇺🇸

    Another great video. Boy I wish you worked in my area. I was sold a Trane 95% 2 Stage Trane furnace . I am in my 3rd heating season and it still doesn't work as it is suppose to.I am on my 5th thermostat. Started with 2 XL 824s then tried 2 XL1050s and now a Aprilaire 8920W. From the start the 2nd stage wouldn't come on at all or would come on whos knows when. Anywhere from 30 mins to an hour or the Stage 1 would come on for a few mins then stage 2 for a few minutes and would continue like that. They tried the 1050s . The temp readings where way off and took up to 1 hour to correct itself. I was running and would lets say have a reading of 70 when house was at 76. Now with my Aprilaire Stage 2 never comes on. The tech says it is not the furnace but has to be the thermostats. I am at witts end on where to go from here. I am thanking about calling another Trane dealer and ask for a second opinion.

    • @Kman-hw9pf
      @Kman-hw9pf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it is a noncommunicating furnace, you may try using a single stage thermostat and jumping W1 and W2 and the furnace board. That way the board controls the staging instead of the thermostat. You could do that with the old Trane XV95 furnaces, but not sure about the new S9 series furnaces.

    It's a rollout overheat code, right? Is there a dead bird the exhaust vent pipe?
    Air pressure diff from in/out pipe location (must be at spec'd elevations*/locations?);
    where is the combustion air intake on that system and shouldn't it also be outside?
    Is that it (the perforated cover on the far right side ~4' lower*); clean and open? Hmmm ??

    • @goorioles1976

      Overheat should trip high limit switch and dead bird should cause pressure switch failure. Rollout trips when flames roll back out of the burners into the furnace compartment.

      I couldn't agree more. Worse thing I did was buy the 2 stage. Mine quit middle of winter ,couldn't go get other estimates so I asked the rep what he had which was the 2 stage. It cost more and has given me fits ever since. Just a few months ago the board went out. Never ever buy a 2 stage furnace. No more a cost saver than a single stage. It does even out heat in your home but that is about it.

    • @gor312
      @gor312 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn't matter, as long as the connections are tight. If there's no gas flow, there is no pressure drop, either.

      @airborneanon5838 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gor312 no go and try it out. You will find the pressures to high. If you leave the pin in it gives a resistance. In the other gas valve types you take those completely off. Try it out you will see a difference.
