Appreciate your thoughts and experiences. Great vehicle for domestic use with some off-roading, however am not sold on the 250 as a long distance touring vehicle. One or two deficiencies reported that will hopefully be corrected or modified in future versions. Hopefully teething issues.
No mention of the fact that despite a 700mm wading depth, if you drive it through a puddle at wheel hub depth (less than half the publicised wading depth) at speed, water gets sprayed up into the 48 volt Electric Hybrid feature - which shorts out and disables the diesel engine with a dash message “48 Volt system failure - see dealer”, meaning put it on a tilt tray coz your trip is over.🙄👎 Why disabled? Because the 48 volt system replaces the alternator, so if the 48 volt system fails there’s no power to run the vehicle systems because there is no alternator. Then Toyota turn around and decline warranty saying that you drove too fast through a puddle, the wading depth is only if your crawling. It’s all on video. Toyota has become a joke, no one can trust them anymore, just look at the DPF class action lawsuit & the judges report publicly labelling Toyota as deceptive. Ronny’s opinion has been bought, just another sponsored Toyota fan boy so zero credibility IMHO.
pfft name a fucking car manufacturer that isnt deceptive. Id rather have a fucking jap built landrcuiser than any other vehicle to tour australia. None of them are as reliable as a v6 or v8 petrol proper landcruiser. None of this new modern diesel shit is fucking worth it. its all greenwashing hype.
I have one and I can tell you it is gutless. It is heavy. The alarms are annoying. It is thirsty. The DPF burn interval is 150kms to 200 kms. It uses a lot of adblue. I will trade it in for a V6 Everest Platinum soon.
Prado 250 - Town running SUV with too much comfort with little bit of off-roading during the weekend which requires Ad-blue without much ground clearance. Landcruiser 200/300 - better than Prado 250 for off- roading with comfort. Landcruiser 70 series- full blown off-roading for lap of Australia. 79 series- extreme off-roading 78 series- camper variant 76 series- towing variant
Please, please, please do a 3t towing test, I'm seriously considering getting the Altitude, but just concerned of its ability to tow 3t, 300kg ball weight effortlessly. Can't afford the 300 Series, so it's the Prado or possibly the Nissan Patrol. I currently tow with the V8 petrol 100 series, but she's getting a bit old.
A lot to like - especially the looks. But as a desert tourer? It has half the payload of a Troopy. 70L less fuel than a Troopy. Half as much space behind the second row. A lot more complexity. And seeing some youtubers with their new Prado coming back on a flatbed is not a good look.
Yeah i hate the 4 cylinders, may as well buy a fucking greatwall. But the prado drives so much fucking nicer than any 70 series. Night and day diference in comfort. Any prado. So much nicer than any glorified 70.
@@Steve211Ucdhihifvshi How it drives doesn't bother me. If it gets me into and out of the remotest parts of Australia them I'm happy. Some of my trips we do 1500km between fuel stops.
New Prado 250 are an expensive soccer mum SUV, can't handle a small puddle of water, can't handle slight corrugated roads. Not fit for off-road purposes.
It's not a true off-roader in my eyes, it has too many vunrable electricals, such as the rear battery and 48v controller being mounted way too low on the floor where it could get wet, wtf Toyota? The front swaybar disconnect is a great thing, and you wouldn't want the disconnect on rear because the rear swaybar needs to be active so it can interact with the front to get the most out of the ifs.
Is that right.... so tell me why a bog stock 70 series is so fucking expensive. With every other landcruiser its about product research, development, constant improvement, heritage and solid build quality thats backed by a hundred of years of history and a massive global company. Id never buy one but, I only buy Japanese built Toyotas, not shit made in thailand or other third world shitholes.
i call this one, 'desperately trying to find positives on the new prado'
Toyota doing damage control for the terrible vehicle they released via sponsorship to ronny dahl hahahahahaha
Great interview! So cool seeing you both chatting about this stuff. Really good insight / unique comments on the subject

They should have put the spare on the back so the battery could sit lower.
Can you do a comparison with a Ford Everest?
I like the look of the 250 & they have sorted a few issues out that annoy me on my 300. Would I buy one. Maybe - a lot cheaper than a decent spec 300.

Effect of constant Stop -Start in metro driving and turbo longevity ??
As other youtubers already found out... no spares in the country for the prado right now.
Thats because they don't make them here.

its not a V6 twin turbo diesel with 700nm, they drive nothing alike.
It's quite laughable. Why would you listen to anything else he has to say after that statement
Its not a Landcruiser unless it has a different wheel track
Its the same with the 150 Prado that drives much nicer than the 200.

Mate the patrol is a clear winner between the two
@dn059 yeah I test drove one last week, very comfortable. I'd most likely go for the Warrior.
@@batlowboy9368 great choice especially as a tow vehicle
And an one more inch in clearance than a subaru outback

250 awesome car only going to get more expensive with new emissions tax in Aus
👍

This tech rubbish is why these cars cost so much, along with all the so called luxuries. No doubt built for tge American Market.
