About the meaning. The lyric video (released first) definitely hints, not overtly, but still hits, towards Hiroshima, so it's reasonable that people would think the song is about that. But the song itself doesn't hint towards that event; it's moody but uplifting; it could just as easily be a song about getting over a breakup. The first take version is emotional but happy in a bittersweet Studio Ghibli movie way. I think those inkblot patterns you see in the original video were intentional. Inkblots used to be used in psychology to gauge how someone interprets them. The line 'What will we see' in the song also alludes to how someone views and deals with a bad event, possibly Hiroshima, or something more personal. The fact that nobody involved with the song's creation has mentioned its meaning and that Su, a native of Hiroshima, wasn't aware of any connection makes me think that the song isn't meant to have a definite meaning, or could be about anything you want it to be. I guess the video director interpreted it in his own way. This is why this song is special. It is both dark and sombre and bright and innocent simultaneously. It's going to be talked about in 50 years time. Phew, that was deeper than expected, lol.
The PIA arena version is important for a lot of fans. It was the first concert with MOMOMETAL as a full Babymetal member (after being an avenger for years). SU-METAL saying 'MOAMETAL, MOMOMETAL, can you see it?' was the first time she was called with her Babymetal name on stage. Also their interaction is really cute. MOMOMETAL used to be on the side for years, SU-METAL and MOAMETAL being the 'official' Babymetal. They have to 'call' her to join as a trio when they meet in the middle of the stage. 🦊🤘😿
The very last part, it's the best unscripted cinema one can get at any concert. It's a moment that really fits in with one of the songs broader themes.
Kudos for doing 3 at once! You get a sub. Babymetal are perfect for this type of format, and Monochrome is particularly worthy, as each version is worth watching separately anyway, and each version gives a different vibe. If you are a songwriter, you will probably be interested in the songwriter himself, Yuyoyuppe. Instead of me singing his praises like I normally do, I'll just recommend you to listen to (not react to) the song 'Pentagram' he wrote for the singer Nano; it's another powerful song written for an amazing and unique singer (I though she was a guy for a while, by her androgenous voice). Another gorgeous song is 'On that day you had your will' sung by Meramipop, her voice is stunningly pretty. Su is still my favourite singer though.

BABYMETAL - Headbanger!! 『へドバンギャー!! 』(MOAMETAL ver.) | Moabanger ♥ [4K] 5. Babymetal - Headbanger (Momoko ver.) (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Subs A little background: 1. is the official MV; 2. and 3. are form the same concert but very different; 4. and 5. are versions with the other members singing the second half of the main vocalists part.
Great triple reaction - any and every version is so good, the piano version could almost be a different song. PIA MM Arena is in Yokohama, Momometal's home town - it was also chosen as the place for her to be revealed as the third member (the MM was a clue nobody seemed to pick up on as we still didn't know for sure it would be her until the reveal), so this was her very first concert as an official member - even though she had been performing with them as an Avenger since 2019. I do have a theory about the figures in white - they were providing some backing vocals in support of Moametal. We can have an educated guess at who they were, but we don't know for sure. In my mind the fact they are dressed in white is significant. BABYMETAL have dressed in white 3 times before this and each time was a significant turning point for them. First time they appeared in white was for the last 2 encore songs at Legend Z early in 2013. That was their last concert before they officially separated from their parent group Sakura Gakuin. Second time Yui and Moa started the Legend 1997 concert dressed in white and making an offering in a theatrical piece to the god of metal statue. Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday concert but it was also the last stage in their separation and the whole concert told the tale of their and Su's transition from JPop Idols to becoming an independent band and Su giving up her former life to be reborn as a Metal Goddess. Third time was in the official mv for 'Karate' where they were conjuring up their inner demons to fight against. 'Karate' was the lead single in 2016 for their second album and that was a significant step away from the collection of new songs and singles they had released in Sakura Gakuin that had made up the first album towards their own new and more structured second album. The First Take video was the last one released by Su and Moa as a duo, the figures in white were there at another important change for BABYMETAL - the next video they released was another First Take one, but it was released after Momometal's reveal, so all three of them performed 'The One' unfinished version. 'The One' is a song for and dedicated to the BABYMETAL fans - also called The One of course.
great triple bill, I really enjoyed this. Su has been singing literally all her life . one of the most underrated performers by the mainstream music industry and media . makes some of the big, famous female vocalists sound ordinary . 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼well, all of them really , but that is just my opinion😂
Great reaction. So one thing about Babymetal, well actually a couple of things I guess. Babymetal LOVES getting the audience involved. In fact they've stated on multiple occasions that they consider the audience as part of the band. For them, the band is the musicians, them, and the audience. Those 3 things are what make up Babymetal in their eyes. As I'm sure you've noticed by now, they do choreo with everything they do. That's kind of part of their schtick. As such they use WAY more energy than most bands to. It's my humble opinion that THAT is why they have intros like Monochrome has. They have these intros in quite a few songs. It not only gives the girls a quick second to have a quick break, but also grab a drink, maybe wipe the sweat off their faces, or whatever. With the amount of calories they must burn every concert (and if you take a look at their touring history you'll see just HOW busy these poor girls are lol), and believe me to do a LOT of concerts and performances! This was my first time I think on your channel and I loved see you ALMOST crack lol If this song almost got you, then there are some songs that probably WILL do you in. Su-Metal (the main vocalist) is VERY good at conveying emotion through her singing. Hoping you do more Babymetal reactions for sure! Keep up the good work!
Nice reaction! The song "Monochrome" is one of my favorite songs with beautiful melody, very positive lyrics, SU's great voice, and MOA&MOMO's choreography, all perfect!🦊💖
Awesome triple reaction! Monochrome is absolutely my favorite Babymetal song. And you’re spot on, Su-metal is an incredible vocalist. I had the pleasure of seeing them live a week and a half ago, and she sounds even better live! To answer your questions: 1). Monochrome is typically in the middle of their set. A lot of Babymetal songs have extended intros to build atmosphere, and to give the ladies and the band a moment to tidy up, get some water, etc., between songs. Not easy going hard for ~1 hour 30 minutes, lol. 2). Babymetal became a duo of Su & Moa after original 3rd member Yuimetal left in 2018 due to health. Momoko was one of the backup dancers rotating into the 3rd spot since 2019. At the end of Pia Arena Day 1’s show (4/1/2023), she was announced as an official 3rd member, becoming Momometal. The 1st take version took place a few months before this event, so just Su & Moa as a duo at the time. Suggestion - *Metali (Legend MM 2024):* Band gets showcased heavily, and you see a fun of Babymetal! 🤘🦊
When they made the First Take, Momo was already hired but officially she was only introduced in the April of 2023. Thisvis why you see three characters hidden in this Video but she was still silent. This is the problem with this song. While the song sounds happy, the text and the video are filled with indications of the first Atomic Bomb. Like Ragnarok although in Reality it is only the tree that connected all thevworlds in the ancient mythology of the Vikings. Butbtoday we have only small glimpses ibto these old myth. In their traditions it was forbidden to write about their mythology . But in Japan they really like these "contradictions". They are simply proud that they use one sign language for a whole language family. It was simply very hard to come from one village to the next abd the real connections came with the sign language of japanese tradesmen that reached the villages by boat.
@@ksbrst2010 Monochrome is definitely melancholic, but it ends in hope. It speaks of “the star that fades” and “a loved one’s warmth that vanishes” to show tragedies that befalls the protagonist. After which, one questions “how will we imagine the night sky?”. Or, how will we move on? The protagonist progressively increases their resolve to “WE WILL illuminate the sky with rainbow colors”, despite facing “Ragnorak (end of days)”. After all, “no matter how long the night, the morning will come. Just smile”. Only the lyric video uses the atomic bomb imagery to really drive home the “tragedy”. Su herself stated in an interview how surprised she was when fans thought the song sad. She always felt the song instilled hope.
@Ganimal83 Yes , I know these contradictions, but in the meantime I think that they are really playing with the conceptsvof deeper meaning in Japanese. Look at Kageeou, that was originally a small Solo experiment by Su in 2018 and later became a bigger song and now tries to getbinto the setlist. The deeper meaning was orignally a Concept due to All the Homophonesvin japanese, but became later a much deeper Motive like Hiragana Translations. Originally a simple Tool for small children to learn Hiragana it becameblater a Tool to modify the meaning of words. And I think they are experimenting with these motives. In japanese they have many thingsvwith multiple meanings due to unusual transliterations. The Kanjis haveva Well defined meaning, but they play with unusual Sounds, which Kanji do they really mean. In japanese this is a well known and often usedvconcept, but we don't know these concept in english and other europeans languages ( we read in fact the Sound and this defines the meaning.) Duevto this fact Homophobie are in european languages forbidden, but not in Japanese. And I think this is the concept that they sometimes play around. The Double meanings. They are in fact thevonly bandvwith these "problems", and they know this and experiment how to get the same result in the US and Europe. They are no small kids anymore and so they Experiment with it.
Hey Zor, awesome reaction! Monochrome came out after Yui, one of the original members, had to leave the group due to health reasons, so they were officially a duo with just Su and Moa at that time. They however did bring in three dancers called the "avengers". One "chosen avenger" would be rotated in to fill the third spot for live performances, but they were only dancers, didn't have mics, and were never named even though the fans all knew exactly who they were. So it's possible that the three in the white robes were the avengers. At that very PIA arena show (Yokohama, Japan) one of the avengers, MomoMetal, was officially given a Metal name and announced as the third permanent member.
Very nice reaction. Heartfelt and thoughtful. It was really nice seeing all three takes together like this. Babymetal's collabs are so great because BM are so versatile. They seem able to fit any genre while always remaining un-mistakably Babymetal. Babymetal are almost always best when viewed live. Their latest live footage is from the "Legend MM Live 2024" concert. You can react to any song from that concert and be assured of a performance that will just be fire. If you pick something from that note that some of the songs have a live intro from the Kami Band. So you get a nice opportunity to see the band show off their skills.
Another commenter glued it all together for me: Su is from Hiroshima... which once experienced a rather large monochrome "firework." But the darkness of night will end and the sun will illuminate the world in color. Just smile. A really beautiful and powerful song!
The three white robed figures are kind of an enigma as Amuse (their production agency) likes to keep things close to the best. Either that said many believe it is the Avengers (three rotating backing singers/dancers) who performed with Suzuka and Moa after Yui departed due to health reasons -one of whom would be Momoko who officibevane the third member on April 1, 2023. The fact that they were in white robes could be a throwback to their Official MV Karate (which came out I believe in 2015). Suggest Kagerou LIVE with Kami Band intro at Legend MM 2024 concert - HQ Pro Shot from the For The Fox God channel.
One Take came out before Momo was an official member (only 2 since Yui left, avengers filled in to make 3- Momo would be official at Pia Arena ), thoughts were they were hinting at a new member announcement or the 3 avengers singing chorus.. All songs are emotional is some way, happy, inspiring, dark, fun, you name it they have a song. ( ballad, rap, hip-hop, tech, metal), it's ok to show your emotions. Most MV/LV have lyrics now. First version people say is about Hiroshima aftermath ( monochrome sky), second version hopeful, one take, tender.
Oooooooooook ❤❤ love it the PIA LOVE & FIRST TAKE WAS AMAZING I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE Watched it without the box but otherwise nice review & I'll be tapping in again soon hope all is well XOXO
PIA Arena is in Yokohama JP. That is very near Yokosuka JP were the biggest US / Japanese Naval base. Many Americans and Japanese Americans live there.
If you want to check more Babymetal crowd craziness, I would recommend 'Babymetal Death'. No music video for this one. A good progression of live videos can be: * Budokan 2014 - 'standard' version at the legendary Budokan. th-cam.com/video/HtB_8ag1r4Y/w-d-xo.html (subs available) * PIA arena 2023 - first performance of the song in more than 6 years. Babymetal Death requires a full 3-members Babymetal. and MOMOMETAL was announced as a full member the night before. Even if it has been years, the crowd is on point. th-cam.com/video/k60STAxJCCY/w-d-xo.html * Legend 1997 - SU-METAL goddess. th-cam.com/video/3quj2og0URM/w-d-xo.html Enjoy, 🦊🤘
A lot of fans pick up on the bomb drop on Hiroshima, even though the lyrics reference Norse mythology. First time i experienced the triptik at once. Great reaction! Su Metal’s all cute and sweet here, but she’ll take you out with her death stare. Live Road of Resistance, Live in Japan 2015. Max audience participation!
The three versions resonate deeply, yet differently in their poignancy. Lyric video is seen as an eulogy to Hiroshima WWII victims (Su is from Hiroshima), but it's a sensitive topic (exploited by both Japanese left & right wings as well as Korea & China, let alone guilting Americans whose forefathers did the bombing). Both Su & Kobametal demurred to say more, inferring it was the MV director's idea, etc. First Take video is seen as a tribute to their younger selves (the Yui era) when, in their mid-to-late teens, they were derided for several years by metal cyberbullies & media snobs as phony, gimmicky or a novelty. The props & visuals used are reminiscent of those in BM's Karate MV (2016) which depicted them metaphorically fighting back against such "monsters" (& has a killer ending for closure). PIA live version is a paean to their supporters, who stayed loyal & remained positive through the hardships during their journey. BM had taken several years to right the ship (Yui cryptically quit; guitarist Mikio tragically died, makeshift lineups with the Musclemetals, Chosen Seven, & Avengers; kawaii image overhaul as their teenhood ended). The various setbacks & protracted uncertainty had stalled their momentum & lost many casual fans. Since then, concertgoers have used the Monochrome (or Karate) live segment by rote to symbolically celebrate Team Babymetal's staying power (trio, band, staff, crowd) together. Monochrome was the breakout hit of their fourth album The Other One (2023), winning a new generation of online fans who had discovered Pa Pa Ya & Kingslayer during the pandemic. Previously, BM's Road Of Resistance (2015) had similarly converted the curious, with the Live In Japan/Saitama Super Area version (their triumphant homecoming half a year after conquering Sonisphere UK & touring with Lady Gaga) in particular leaving many jaded metalheads teary-eyed in their reaction videos during the second half of last decade.
As noted, it is "probably" about the Hiroshima nuclear blast, but we should see hope in the darkness. The Umbrella references is due to the black rain that comes down from a nuclear detonation. Su-metal's grandmother is a survivor. This also is hinted at when Su-metal says halfway through the live version that the audience should light up the darkness with their lights; other concerts she sometimes says there is a lot of darkness, turn on your lights. Babymetal official site never provide any information about the meaning of songs - especially with such a difficult subject, so all the above may or may not be correct.
After a brak yes, but never at the start. They haveva lotbof small breaks. Every two to three songs. The dancing consumes a lot of power and they have collapsed after songs due to heat.
Yes, the lyrics are about the days just after the bombing of Hiroshima during WWII (Su's hometown). Also, I think the three hooded figures in the First Take version are a reference to a transition the group was going through, as Yuimetal had left the group and hadn't been replaced yet
That's not how Su interprets the lyrics. She was surprised that so many people thought of it as a sad song. Although you could certainly get the impression it's about Hiroshima based on the animated lyric video.
@@rickwagner- I think Su was correct, but that she misunderstood why it was being described as sad. It's a hopeful song about a terrible time in Japanese history.
@@jonabitstream It's hard to say. That's certainly a reasonable interpretation, but the lyric writers for BABYMETAL songs (in this case MK-METAL or Miki Watanabe) haven't discussed the meanings of any BABYMETAL songs, and Koba likes to leave it up to the listener. I don't think Su or Koba have ever mentioned the Hiroshima bombing in relation to this song.
Due to the date I doubt any connection to Yui, I think they were all working on the integration of Momo. Sound Recording, Sound Integration. They had to develop how do we sing together. We must not forget, previously she was only a guest dancer, but now they wanted to make her to a full Babymetal, a member of the team.
And yet ANOTHER TH-camr that doesn't know how copyright strikes work. 😮 Placing a square over the video, does nothing!!!! You literally can't see the girls. Wtf?? This is why you have so few subs and views. It's so disrespectful. And BTW Moa is an amazing vocalist also but you totally ignored her. Awesome.

You can react to any song from that concert and be assured of a performance that will just be fire. If you pick something from that note that some of the songs have a live intro from the Kami Band. So you get a nice opportunity to see the band show off their skills.
Great triple reaction, thanks!
My comments keep disappearing so, I leave it here.
Hey buddy :) Did you upset the TH-cam gods again? lol
@@jeremyboynowski3784 As usual haha... but not as bad as last week (I was gifted with a 24h total ban without a reason and without any communication).
Another commenter glued it all together for me:
Su is from Hiroshima... which once experienced a rather large monochrome "firework."
But the darkness of night will end and the sun will illuminate the world in color. Just smile.
A really beautiful and powerful song!
@@ChurchOfTheHolyMho that makes so much sense! And it makes it that much more personal and powerful
Nice reaction! I love this song so much. Live is where BABYMETAL really shines.
Great reaction! Thank you! 🤘🦊🤘
Very nice reaction video, very well done 🦊👍
Awesome reaction, I really enjoyed your style. Keep the good stuff coming.
the only time you will see firework but monochrome is nuclear bomb
Oooooooooook ❤❤ love it the PIA LOVE & FIRST TAKE WAS AMAZING I JUST WISH I COULD HAVE Watched it without the box but otherwise nice review & I'll be tapping in again soon hope all is well XOXO
PIA Arena is in Yokohama JP. That is very near Yokosuka JP were the biggest US / Japanese Naval base. Many Americans and Japanese Americans live there.
Please do The One (Official video) and The One on The First Take. Thank you!
My favourite song, also most of their songs have intros. Fill the dead space between sets, Su and co can rest a bit.
If you squint hard enough that tree is a fox head.
If you want to check more Babymetal crowd craziness, I would recommend 'Babymetal Death'.
No music video for this one.
A good progression of live videos can be:
* Budokan 2014 - 'standard' version at the legendary Budokan. th-cam.com/video/HtB_8ag1r4Y/w-d-xo.html (subs available)
* PIA arena 2023 - first performance of the song in more than 6 years. Babymetal Death requires a full 3-members Babymetal. and MOMOMETAL was announced as a full member the night before. Even if it has been years, the crowd is on point. th-cam.com/video/k60STAxJCCY/w-d-xo.html
* Legend 1997 - SU-METAL goddess. th-cam.com/video/3quj2og0URM/w-d-xo.html
Enjoy, 🦊🤘
As per tears - yes, we all get that problem with babymetal songs.
The tree can also be a reference to Yggdrasil the life tree in Norse mythology and the 'survivor trees' in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Which version is my favorite... I'll figure it out some day but it wont be soon.
I've seen Babymetal a few times. That girl rattles the rafters with her voice.
I get Hiroshima Vibes when i see this Video
I would suggest Road of Resistance Live at PIA Arena 2023.
ピアノバージョンは、YUIとの決別を表現していると信じます🍅
Due to the date I doubt any connection to Yui, I think they were all working on the integration of Momo. Sound Recording, Sound Integration. They had to develop how do we sing together. We must not forget, previously she was only a guest dancer, but now they wanted to make her to a full Babymetal, a member of the team.
And yet ANOTHER TH-camr that doesn't know how copyright strikes work. 😮
Placing a square over the video, does nothing!!!!
You literally can't see the girls. Wtf??
This is why you have so few subs and views. It's so disrespectful.
And BTW Moa is an amazing vocalist also but you totally ignored her. Awesome.
@@SirGreenDay :) Moa is incredible
@@ZorDonofDoom you likely should just block him like every other reactor that he constantly harasses has. He does this to every BabyMetal reactor.
🤘🦊🤘❤
Great reaction! I can’t pick a favorite, all three versions are special ❤🤘🦊🔥
