At 1:12 this is a crucible. Brasure (3:55) is just “solder” in English I think. You usually match the type of solder to whatever you’re making - so if it’s a 18 carat yellow gold you’d use 18ct yellow gold solder, sterling silver solder for sterling silver jewellery etc. And I’m pretty sure at 4:31 this is silver pickle solution - it’s a warmed diluted acid, usually sulphuric acid, that removes the black oxidation you get after soldering. I’ve read that you’re not meant to use steel tweezers in the sulphuric acid solution because it can cause a hard red-brown solid to form, as the iron sulphate you get initially (which is green) reacts with oxygen to form iron oxide. Though I don’t know how much of an issue this is in practice! Just in case anyone is interested as I was 🙂
Hi loved your video. I’m new to jewelry making with silver and gold, only worked with wire wrapping and I am very interested in metal smithing/soldering. This may be a silly question but what kind of mold did you use to create your pendants?

@@MrJACarroll yess thank you! The tweezers I used are copper tweezers btw :)
@@atelierjiboia Ah, it makes sense that they would be copper - thanks for the info!
Cooking and Jewelry Making have more similarities than I’ve previously given credit to.

it's wax basically, that I carved into the shape that I wanted :)
That pot thing you melt stuff in is a bubbly pot. Most people call it a crucible, but they're boring. It's a bubbly pot. Hahaha
you're right, bubbly pot is far better
Where do you buy the raw silver ? I'm unsure how to find a reliable source
I buy it from Cookson
Rio grande for silver, etc
