  • During a period of very cold and potentially stormy weather in late November I travelled to Cheshire, having an overnight stay in Broxton at the Durham Heifer Cafe & Campsite in rural West Cheshire.
    Whilst there I cooked a simple but favourite meal, Pasta Carbonara with Smoked Pancetta.
    I also talk about my new cook set, the Trangia 27-1 UL Complete Cooking System, with additional accessories to make it complete for my use.
    Further details of the Trangia equipment can be found here:

    The beauty of remote cannister stoves is you can turn the gas bottle upside down when the gas gets low and/or it's cold out. Might have helped with the spluttering.

      Hi Phil, good tip, also I now use slip on wrist bandage over the canister which seems to help 👍🏻

    I have been using a trangia since the mid 80’s. I use the metho burner without any issues. I boil water in the pot for tea and use a tea Bag in my cup to brew it. Instead of a kettle I carry a 300 ml flask of metho inside. That lasts me easily a long weekend.

    • @thecampingbiker791

      I’m going to try meths next time and good idea cutting gear back… I do love the little kettle though 😂 on some trips I just take a small titanium pot and cook on that with little pocket rocket 👍🏻

    Nice video, cooked many a time on the Trangia.......the large hole in the sieve is designed for the handle to fit when draining. I mainly cook on meths, with a touch of water to stop the blackening of the pots... You could have a little meths one running alongside to boil the water for your brew.

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers John, good idea about having separate brew up… is your addition of water just a teaspoon amount

    • @johnw2758
      @johnw2758 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thecampingbiker791 yep...there is obviously a proper formula ( not sure what off the top of my head) but it's only a small amount compared to the meths I've also bought a foldable stove that uses wood, just in case, takes no room up and small twigs/branches can be picked up at will.

    I have gained a lot from watching this useful Video. Have ordered a Trangia Stove with gas attachment (not arrived yet) so watching TH-cam and getting all the gen. Yours was the first using gas and having minor problems the same as I expect to have and showing how to cook a simple tasty meal. One bit of gen. more expense of course, a Primus Pot Holder does not 'damage' the gripping area of the pans. Now 76, best Bike was a Yahama 900 Exup, toured on a VHR 750.

    Hi ...have been watching your channel a while now since I have a cb 500 x as well and like camping( in nice weather).I am 63 now and driving bikes since my 17 th.....one thing I keep on noticing is that bikes evolved a lot more than the cooking camping gear.I don,t think my ,,cooking equipment,,changed a lot in 40 years.

    Cracking.
    I do love watching a camp cooking video.
    If you like a little bit of spice, fry up some chopped chicken breast, heat up a jar of kung po sauce and put some chicken and some fresh salad in a wrap with a drizzle of sour cream and a spoon full of kungpo sauce.
    Easy and super delicious.
    I always make enough so I have one extra to have cold for breakfast.

    All good stuff think you need to use your Trangia gear a lot more and you won’t look so ham fisted, and the drainer has a cut out for the pot handle much safer that the cloth. Keep the videos coming.
