Tim McIllrath is literally the best person ever. If everyone was like him, we would live in a place that everyone could be happy in. God bless you Tim. Your ideals and your music are amazing.
The song Make it Stop by this band saved my life. I listen to it every time I think about suicide and I rethink. Tim McIlrath and his band saved my life. He's such a great man. I hope I get to meet him one day.

There aren't enough words to express how epic Tim is as a person, how epic Rise Against is as a band and how epic this video is. I remember watching this for the first time in 2011 getting totally blown away, and I still get that exact feeling from watching it again. It's strange how violence can co-exist with beautiful words like these.
(sad story, happy ending) At the time Make it Stop came out I was in Junior high (15yrs old). I was being bullied. A lot because I was different. I was very close to taking my own life at a certain point, and harmed my self in various ways and woke up in an ambulance. I can still remember the feeling I had as I saw in the music video that in the future their lives would get better I fought, every day to stay alive praying that "despite the overwhelming odds" tomorrow would come. And it did. As I sit here rewatching old youtube videos of my Favorite Band, looking at the scars I have on my arms. I can remember how hopeless I felt, and the will I had to fight through it. At this day, I am educating to work within Emergency medc services my self. This is all because of you, giving me a good reason to fight. To anyone that is being bullied right now. It does get better. And if you ever need anyone to talk with that won't ever judge. Feel free to direct message me. I will not let what happened to me, happen to anyone else. We are all special in our own unique ways

I would just like to say that although I have never had to deal with anything remotely close to what the kids that contemplate harming themselves are dealing with. I have seen enough to feel confident that it does get better, and on a separate note, Tim you are my hero and you will forever be my hero as well as the rest of Rise Against. Your message will live on long after you are gone.
He's my personal hero.. he changed my life so many times.. i'm proud to call myself a Rise against fan :D Still can't believe that they'll come to our country (hungary) :D I must see them live :D it will be awesome! :D
Rise Against: an inspiration to anyone and everyone. even to the people have never heard of them. they've inspired me to do many things. including starting to be a musician and stand up for myself and others.
This band is so amazing! I've been listening to them for five years & no matter how sad or pissed I feel they always can pull me out of my funk & make me feel better. They make me feel like I can be something & make a difference in the world, something no one else has ever made me believe. You're my hero Tim!!!
This made me cry:'( I really can't belive that i just heard my "new found idol" saying such comforting words. Tim and the rest of the band are for me, true heroes! So Thank You Rise Against!
I watched Tim's, Brandon's, Zach's and Joe's "It Gets Better" interviews and they touched my heart so much! I have so much to thank this band for and I feel lucky to be in the Rise Against community
tims right and hes such a great speaker, "they are the fabric that make up this society" such a briliant guy and should run for presedent he could make change
You guys are probably not going to read this comment but I just want to say thank you for the songs. Everytime I feel like shit I listen to your songs and it gets better. Sure, a simple song cant cure depression or lonelyness, but it still can create hope.
If Tim could read this which I doubt he will but he is my hero he brought so much inspiration to me he is a hero to me so I like really wanna thank him for being such an inspiration to me and anybody else
Umm guys not to but in or anything, but I kind off saw Tim sing songs on stage two days ago with my own two eyes...... so I can confirm that he is still very much alive and rocking.
such an excellent speaker... my life has felt like such shit and just been really confusing for several months now, "i should be having the best times of my lift at 16" i really dont want to feel like a wasted my adolescence, but i will do everything in my power to reverse things, hopefully things change optimisticly.
I remember meeting the band when I was 15 or so, about 5'10", next time I met them, 17, I was 6'4", it's kinda weird being way taller than somebody you look up to
well that nearly brought a tear to my eye and hes sort of right dont harm yourself and stand up and be counted but mostly hes right that for all the shit we all see and go through you really would never want to take that shit back because it makes me who i am and i am fucking amazing for it
i wish i had a silver tongue like guys like Tim Mcllrath, or my father or even some of my friend's. that way when i get in situations where there are jerks, or bully's that treat people horrible and just don't care. i'd have something to say to them and the people around them that would make a difference. and i could do something to make it better. but when i try, the word's just aren't there. For what its worth though it does get better! ;)
I'm not gay, but people that treat them differently are wrong. No one should be bullied to the point where they would harm themselves. Tim, you've set me, and many others on the right path. Thanks.
when tim said "The things that make us different, were the things that made us awesome" i immediately thought of his heterochromia.. i dont know about anyone else but his eyes are legit! i wish i had it
Love Rise Against defiantly one of my Favorites. If you need help, get help there are plenty of good people out there who can provide support and treatment.
@freimanRA and got me crying, cuz alot of people i hang around with cope with the thought of committing suicide, and ive heard so much/and seen so much anger and sadness.
Hey Tim :) Your 2 Concerts in Munich 2010 and 2011 were so fucking great :) I'm going to see you on the Open Flair Festival this Summer ;) Tim , it would be so fucking great to get the chance to meet you there for a short time :) If you could manage this , it would be awesome ;)
Guys, how could anyone not like this? I have 88 rise againat songs on my ipod, and i have a favorite consisting of about 40 songs. These have meaning. Songs today have no meaning. I mean, c'mon, the chorus being black and yellow repeating constantly?? I can't stand it, if it weren't for rock, i'd go crazy and bezerk.
I was made fun of for being gay when I way younger----thing is, I'm not gay. But it still really hurt knowing people would make fun of others for who they loved. I delt with it, it even effected me deeply and made me feel a lot of pain just because humans can be so cruel.
I used to bully this one kid who'd bully me, but then I started seeing all these kids in my town commiting suicide and I realized it could've been him. I smartened up and stopped, apologized and now I'm a rastafarian. I live every day on the basis of not doing harm or saying or thinking hurtful things. It's been a year. Rise Against forever
His eyes are two different colours, green and blue. He has something called "heterochromia", he was bullied for it as a child, which I believe is the reason behind videos such as this one. My girlfriend has centeral heterochromia - she has blue eyes, but they're yellow around the iris... I think it's pretty awesome :)
tim i like you but Zach is my fav member of the band but i liked you in all your dvd about rise against :) expaccily when u sing swing life aways in budapest
well, if you hate these kind of people then they might actually realise they are doing something wrong. if you dont hate them and just ignore them they wont realise they are doing anything wrong. also i cant help it if i hate people for hating people for no good reason.
@HesBehindYou44 Look up "Tim from Rise Against speaks the truth!" Great video plus he says his own name. I didn't know how to pronounce it either until I saw this.
listen to track 5 i think on there new album. this is a social problem that keeps dividing us and creates feeling of hate and resentment in our youth today
Rise against may not be the greatest band . But they are the greatest band with the message they send . I'm not gay/bi/les but I still stick up for people who are that get bullied . Were All human

these guys are really good people they brought me back from depression made an impact on me...thank you
I'm surprised he was bullied because of his eyes. I'd be jealous
Well a lot of bullies bully because they're jelous.
I had a personal conversation with Tim and he told that is not true he was bullied for his eyes
(sad story, happy ending)
At the time Make it Stop came out I was in Junior high (15yrs old).
